“And can you also tell me why you lied to your mayor?” asked the mayor.
“Because you’re trying to erase the past for whatever twisted modern reason you have!” I blurted out.
The mayor turned to me and slowly walked over. I could feel my heart beat faster.
“I’m not asking you… crazy ancient girl…” He then turned back to Shade, “So why have you lied to your mayor?”
“I… I didn’t lie… they must have just returned and came into the backyard.”
The mayor punched Shade and Shade fell to the ground. Torshik gasped but I stopped him from intervening.
“I tire of your lies and excuses!” The mayor shouted
“And you think we don’t feel the same way about you?!” I shouted.
The mayor turned to me, a mad, insane look in his eyes that made me emotionally shrink, “I am doing what it takes to protect my people! You should know how that is by now!”
He then switched to a gun and shot me in the leg and I crumpled to the ground, pressing a hand to it to stop the blood from spilling
Shade rushed over to me. "Asha are you okay?!” He asked.
“I’m fine… I’m immortal so these weird metal things are like nothing to me. The Eshkichin arrows are much worse.” While I was talking I slipped the spear into Torshik’s hands and pushed together both Torshik and Shade.
“Teleport them somewhere safe.”

“NOO-” But Torshik’s voice was cut off by the teleportation.
The mayor stormed over to me and grabbed me by my neck. “Where did you teleport them?!”
“I don’t know. I just said somewhere safe. They could be on the other side of the world for all I know.” I told him.
His grip tightened and I could feel myself losing more and more air.
“Bring her to the lab. Let’s see how well this immortality of hers actually works.”
The ride to this supposed lab was all a blur, I was too focused on stopping the bleeding in my leg to even pay attention. A woman who seemed to be an important one to the mayor whispered to me.
“Just say what he wants to hear, it’s not smart to be defiant.”
I just scoffed and kept pressing a hand to my leg.
We arrived at the supposed lab and they roughly grabbed me and dragged me inside. I was then thrown into this containment cell with a singular bed and a glass wall in front of it. I tried banging on it. The mayor walked up to the glass.
“Welcome to your new home until we either figure out where Shadatkou and Torshik are or when we decide what to do with a threat like you.”
“Who’s Shadatkou?” I asked.
“Shade. He doesn’t like being called that though. It doesn’t matter what he likes, he shouldn’t defy his culture like that. Anyways I will be nice and give you a chance to tell me where they are right now.”
“I don’t know where they are, I teleported them to a random location!”
“So we’re doing it that way then, are we?”
Suddenly the room filled with lightning which hurt a lot.
“So… would you like to rephrase that?”
“I told you I don’t know!”
“Keep it on until she complies.” he said, turning to his secretary.
“Sir-”
“Now!”
She looked visibly shaken but turned it on anyway. She muttered something that sounded a lot like “I’m sorry” under her breath.
An alert came up on the mayor's watch.
“I have an event I need to attend to. Leave this on until she admits.”
The mayor then exited the room. The woman made sure he was gone before she turned it off.
“Look I’ll just say you said they were in the old city. But know that that might result in consequences if you're wrong.”
“It’ll still be a consequence even if I am right. I don’t want Torshik or Shade to get hurt.”
“I understand that but right now I’m prioritizing you.”
“Please don’t. I’m immortal, I’ll be fine.”
