Chapter 17

  Peter

Peter watched Adam. He was different now. Tinkerbell had gotten the boy for him after James had left Neverland a few years ago.

She had noticed how lonely he had gotten without his brother, she was a good friend. Peter had never understood James’s dislike of her and the other fairies.

Adam looked like James had before he left. His arms were longer, he was taller, and he spent more time looking at the horizon.

Peter bit his lip, he didn’t want his first friend to leave. But he was growing up and Tinkerbell said that meant he had to leave Neverland.

"Tink, I don’t want him to leave,” Peter whispered. He could hear the quiver in his own voice and forced himself to stiffen his back and lift his chin. The man from Before didn’t like crying and always got mad at them when they did so James had taught him how to ignore the wobbly feelings inside and straighten them out.

“Well…” Tinkerbell sat upon his head and seemed to ponder something carefully. “There is a way to make not grow up, but I’m not supposed to say.” She sighed sadly.

Peter lifted off the ground as joy filled him. “Really Tink! You got to tell me! Please, come on Tink, Please?”
