Chapter II – Understanding the System
The information didn’t come as sound.
It didn’t come as images.
It just… downloaded.
Straight into my head.
Concepts. Commands. Structure.
Like someone installed a manual directly into my brain.
When I opened my eyes, I knew.
How to access it.
How to call it.
How to navigate it.
I took a slow breath.
“Status.”
The word came out steady.
The air in front of me shimmered, like heat rising off pavement in summer, and a translucent interface appeared.
?? STATUS
Name: Dante
Race: Human
Age: 39
Class: None
Talent: Analytical Predisposition
Hidden Talent: ???
Skill: Appraisal (Lv.1)
Attributes
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
Another tab opened automatically.
?? Reference – Average Human (Earth)
I just stood there.
Strength: 3.
Below average.
Agility: 2.
Wow. That’s… embarrassing.
Intelligence: 9.
Okay. Finally something decent.
Mana: 2.
Didn’t even exist on Earth.
And here? Still low.
I let out a slow breath.
“So I’m below average… even back home. That’s wild.”
It didn’t sting.
It was just facts.
I’ve always been skinny. Never athletic.
Patchy beard — barely a mustache, stubborn chin hair.
Light brown eyes.
Dark brown hair that looks black in certain light. Always messy.
In school, I wasn’t the best.
But I wasn’t the worst either.
Never a genius.
Just quick to understand things.
Teachers used to say the same line every time:
“You’re smart. You just don’t apply yourself.”
Yeah. Real helpful.
I focused on my talent.
?? Talent – Analytical Predisposition
Description:
Allows me to observe movement structures in mental “frames,” understand their basic composition, and replicate physical techniques according to my comprehension and physical capacity.
? Does not function on magical structures.
? Applies only to physical techniques.
So basically… I think first.
That tracks.
Then I looked down.
?? Hidden Talent – ???
Description:
Insufficient data for identification.
That bothered me more than the low stats.
Something’s there.
Something even the system won’t name yet.
I took another breath and finally looked around.
And really saw it.
Trees taller than skyscrapers.
Trunks wide as buildings.
Dense vegetation everywhere.
Humid air — but breathable.
It was daytime.
But the sky?
Two suns.
And three moons visible at the same time.
I squinted.
“Alright… yeah. Definitely not Earth.”
A weak chuckle slipped out.
Man, that was a bad joke.
My heart was racing.
But not from panic.
From calculation.
I grew up on anime.
Isekai.
RPGs.
Manga marathons at 3 a.m.
I know the trope.
But nobody summoned me as the chosen one.
No god handed me broken abilities.
This isn’t a power fantasy.
This is survival.
No respawns.
No save file.
No second chances.
Mess up once?
That’s it.
I felt the pressure settle on my shoulders.
Fear.
But fear isn’t weakness.
Fear keeps you sharp.
I closed my eyes for a second.
Organize.
Priorities:
Water.
Food.
Shelter.
Fire.
Without those, none of this matters.
Not the system.
Not the talents.
Not the stats.
The breakup pain? Still there.
But distant now.
Overwritten by something louder.
Stay alive.
I opened my eyes.
And took my first step forward.
Not as a hero.
Not as some chosen one.
Just a guy trying not to die.
And for the first time in a long time…
My head was completely clear.
?? Skill Focus – Appraisal
I concentrated.
?? Appraisal (Lv.1)
Description:
Provides information on any target when I intentionally analyze it.
Evolves based on structural understanding — form, function, composition.
The more I interact and comprehend, the more information becomes available.
I looked at a nearby plant.
Focused.
The interface responded.
Name: Plant
Description: Plant life.
That’s it?
Seriously?
I stepped closer.
Ran my finger across a leaf.
No reaction.
No irritation.
Pulled out the knife.
Made a small cut in the stem.
Clear liquid slowly seeped out.
The interface flickered again.
Name: Aqua Plant
Description: Grows in humid environments.
Larger specimens store liquid within the stem.
Can be used for emergency hydration.
?? Appraisal Progress: 10%
Okay.
Now we’re talking.
It wasn’t power.
It was clarity.
So that’s how it works.
The more I test.
The more I interact.
The more I understand.
The more the system gives back.
Fair enough.
I started moving carefully through the forest.
Watching every step.
Bare feet pressing into damp soil.
Feeling the texture — dirt, small stones, broken twigs.
Invisible insects shifting beneath leaves.
Every step is a gamble.
But now?
I’ve got structure.
I’ve got a system.
And I’ve got a brain that knows how to use it.
There’s no tutorial.
No walkthrough.
But hey…
I’ll figure it out.
Or I won’t live long enough to complain about it.
