As the sun rises on the walls of the barracks, six out of the seven recruits still lay asleep

  Because, while the others had been asleep, Edwin had been awake, working on a surprise for the other six new recruits

  Edwin nervously walks to the hallway where all of the rooms are, before yelling out with his deep, booming voice

  "EVERYONE WAKE UP!!!"

  All six of the other recruits immediately wake up and, without getting ready, dash out of their rooms

  Laura responds first, clearly annoyed and distressed

  "So what's the emergency that required us to get out of bed an hour early, Edwin?"

  Edwin sheepishly replies with "Uhh... I made breakfast"

  Everyone looks relieved that their lives aren't in active danger before Darius responds wittily

  "This food better be damn good for you to wake us up like this"

  The comment gets a slight chuckle out of Asha, who's hair is still messy from the early awakening

  As the group of seven makes their way into the kitchen, they notice an amazing smell coming from the dining room of the barracks

  Aaron and James immediately speed up when the smell hits their noses, quickly followed by Aidan and Darius

  Darius immediately sits down and starts shoveling food into his mouth, before immediately looking disgusted and coughing up nearly everything he had just put into his mouth

  Darius then dryly says "How... Did you manage... To burn... Everything...?"

  Edwin, a wave of shame immediately hitting his face, starts trying to explain himself, tripping on every word before Aaron walks up behind him and pats his back, saying "I guess we know not to let Edwin cook again"

  Darius then stands up, mostly recovered and says "It's all good, I know a bar that's not too far, they serve great breakfast in the morning, it's probably about a ten minute walk, let's get going"

  As they walk into the bar, the barkeep tells the group to sit in a large booth in a corner next to the door

  The barkeep then says "I'm Cathryn, I can get you seven plates of breakfast, you're first-timers so you'll get it on the house. Also there's a small room upstairs that's free to rent most of the time"

  Darius then replies "That sounds great!" before flashing a small smile

  Cathryn then returns it and walks off to help other customers

  As they settle into the booth, conversation starts bubbling, Aaron, Darius, and Aidan all joking back and forth, Asha and Edwin sharing some quiet banter, and James and Laura sharing a small conversation, both of them exchanging an occasional joke

  Sitting directly across from James and Laura, Darius seems to be plotting

  Darius then leans into Aaron's ear, looking at James and Laura before whispering something

  "Aaron, I have a bet you might wanna be a part of"

  Aaron then responds "Yeah? What is it?"

  Darius then says, still looking at James and Laura "I'll give you five if those two don't end up together by the end of the year"

  Aaron then thinks for a beat, before saying "Deal, James is terrible with girls, one time he fell into a pile of horse shit just approaching a girl he liked"

  The two then drift apart as the breakfast arrives, looking much better than Edwin's

  As he gets the first few bites in, Darius says "This is how you cook sausage, Chef Edwin"

  The whole table chuckles as they stop their conversations to eat their breakfast

  As the sun drifts more to the top of the sky, the group begins to leave the bar to return to their barracks.
