Chapter 7: The Defense of the Ghost Gate

"Hold! We must hold! Just survive this wave, and reinforcements (though who knows where they are) will arrive!"

On the tower of the Ghost Gate, a giant with a bull's head wielding a steel fork shouted hoarsely. He was Ox-Head, one of the captains of the Underworld Security Force.

Beside him, Horse-Face, with a long equine face and holding a soul-hooking chain, looked down at the city walls in despair.

"Old Ox, it's useless! There are too many! We can't kill them all!"

Below the walls, a dense army of demons was like a black tide, frantically assaulting the bronze gates of the Ghost Gate, which were already teetering.

Gathered here were all the low-to-mid-level demons that had leaked through from the perimeter, numbering in the tens of thousands. They formed human ladders, climbing the walls, their dense roaring making scalps tingle.

The Yin Soldiers had long run out of arrows and mana. The city gate was about to be breached.

Just then, two figures appeared at the rear of the tower.

Daoist Singularity took one look at the situation and felt his Heavenly Dao Tablet was about to explode.

  [Warning: Ghost Gate Durability 15%.]

  [Enemy Count: 12450+]

[Ally Status: Out of ammo and food.]

"How do we fight this?!" Singularity went frantic. "We'd need firepower level of the Ten Kings of Hell for this!"

Slayer walked to the edge of the wall.

He looked down at the demon sea below, dense as an ant colony.

If it were an ordinary person, seeing this scene would have made them wet their pants. But in Slayer's eyes, what demon sea? This was clearly an "XP Pool" and "Ammo Depot"!

Moreover, such dense positioning... it was practically prepared for that kind of weapon.

Slayer put the shotgun back behind his back.

This time, he pulled a big guy out of his dimensional pocket.

A beast with six rotating barrels, completely black, connected to a massive ammo box—the M134 Vulcan Minigun (DOOM Modified Version).

  Not just a minigun.

Slayer mounted this beast on the battlements of the Ghost Gate.

"That is... what magic treasure?" Ox-Head stared with wide bovine eyes. "So many tubes?"

"That is... this is..." Singularity swallowed hard, immediately slapping a bunch of talismans onto the machine gun. "That is 'Namo Gatling Bodhisattva'!"

  Slayer pulled the trigger.

  Vrrrrm—BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT!!!

That wasn't the sound of a gun; it was the sound of a chainsaw cutting wood, the sound of fabric being torn apart.

  6000 rounds per minute.

The tongue of fire spewing from the muzzle was two meters long. Blue runic bullet curtains (yes, Singularity had secretly enchanted the entire ammo belt just now) swept across the demon army below like the scythe of the Grim Reaper.

  Splurt-splurt-splurt-splurt!

The demons below the wall didn't fall down; they shattered.

Hundreds of demons in the front row were instantly beaten into meat sauce. A mist of blood rose into the sky, forming a red barrier.

"Holy crap!" Horse-Face was so scared he dropped his soul chain. "That's too fast! My chain can only hook one at a time; he ultra-redeemed five hundred in a single breath?!"

  But that wasn't enough.

Slayer's other hand raised the equipment launcher on his shoulder.

  Thwip! Thwip!

Two frag grenades arced through the air, landing in the densest part of the demon pile.

  BOOM! BOOM!

The firelight of the explosions mixed with the minigun's barrage turned the foot of the Ghost Gate into a meat grinder instantly.

Singularity wasn't idle either. Standing behind Slayer, his whisk turned into a baton, manipulating the overflowing soul energy from Slayer's kills.

"Spirit Gathering Array, rise! Pour all this energy into the gun barrels! Cooling! Heat dissipation! Infinite Ammo!"

Singularity constructed a temporary energy cycle system.

Slayer kills mobs -> Soul energy drops -> Singularity collects -> Converts to ammo and coolant -> Sends to Slayer -> Slayer continues killing mobs.

This was a perfect perpetual killing loop.

Ox-Head and Horse-Face stood aside, watching this extremely brutal scene, completely unable to intervene.

The Ghost Gate, which was about to fall, had now become a forbidden zone for demons. The area within a hundred meters of the city wall had turned into a vacuum. No living creature could walk in intact.

  [Current Kill Count: 1000... 3000... 5000...]

  Three minutes later.

The barrels of the minigun were glowing bright red (despite Singularity's cooling array).

The demon army below the city... was gone.

Only a ground full of minced meat remained, along with massive amounts of light spheres floating in the air that hadn't been collected in time.

Slayer released the trigger. The rotating barrels slowly stopped, emitting wisps of green smoke.

  Deathly silence on the tower.

All the Yin Soldiers gaped at the green back.

Ox-Head tremblingly walked up to Singularity, pointing at the pile of shell casings on the ground (which had piled up to cover his feet). "This... which deity is this High Immortal? This magic treasure... wastes too much copper, doesn't it?"

Singularity, while skillfully starting to clean up the battlefield (picking up trash), said without looking back:

"Him? He's the new Technical Consultant."

Singularity pointed at the still-smoking gun barrel.

"This is called 'Physical Salvation.' Learn from it, stop poking around with those broken forks all day. Times have changed, my lords."

Slayer hoisted the minigun again and looked inside the city gate.

Since the gate was held, next, it was time to go to the Palace of Yama and chat with the so-called "Boss."

After all, he seemed to have swept the snow in front of their door a little too cleanly.

"Let's go, Brother Ox, Brother Horse." Singularity patted the shoulders of the two security captains. "Lead the way. We're going to see King Yama. And by the way, do you reimburse ammo costs here?"
