As the column finally arrived in city one, they had been delayed by an hour and suffered 2 casualties, non fatal. A lucky burst from some automatic sprayed the crew of a hog, luckily missing most shots.
Now that they were in the city, they had to go to their staging area. With an infantry brigade, artillery, and some scattered vtols in city, it was getting crowded.
Thankfully, the civilians had mostly been evacuated, and would be gone before the true fighting began. Also, it lessened the chances of ambush for unsc personnel.
Nivka followed her assigned platoon, and when they stopped, she stopped. They arived in their company's area. Maintenance, housing and the like were here. They were housed with their Battalion, but due to the Grizzlies separate maintenance requirements, as well as the MK9's, their repair hub was a bit separate with what few other Grizzlies there were hubbed in the same area.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
When they finally got the all clear to disembark, Nivka and her fireteam got out and stretched. The tank crews did the same, and we shared commiserating gripes about stiffness, the need to use the bathroom, and army standards.
Her neural interfaces pinged, informing her that a staff meeting was iminant and she was 'invited'. She sighed, and ran to use the bathroom. She wouldn't get to eat, but she had suffered worse for longer.
When she was done, she headed to the new command post. The amount of guards had increased, probably due to the recent attacks from insurrectionist forces. They checked her credentials repeatedly, and got someone to escort her inside.
They arrived at the meeting room, and the guard knocked. They were allowed entry, and she went in and sat next to her company's captain. They shared some small talk, and before long, the meeting began.
The Colonel stood, and gazed at the collected officers. She spoke. "3 things. What happened, our response, and how to prevent it again. Then, it's reports and another meeting for majors and up. Start now." She said, and sat down.
