Vez, in retrospect, shouldn't have been so eager. With the ultra, they had cleared the first building easily. The second was harder, as they had prepared innumerable traps throughout the building.
The second building was, in Vez's most humble of opinions, the most stressful thing she had encountered. Every step could have been rigged. Every door was trapped, until they weren't.
There were running gun battles in certain sections, and casualties were ramping up. Eventually they had cleared out the bottom through the top. Then it was off to the third.
She had killed a decent portion of humans in this one when she shot rockets and needles into it. Resistance was light, and they only had one death.
Once the three towers were cleared, the game was now hunting for AA. Or we'll, it was for the rest. My head was hurting more and more, and she needed to leave.

On the next supply phantom, she was ordered away. Apparently, due to her injuries she was a liability. It was true, but it stung still. But she was also relieved to be getting away from the battle.
Her mother had also apparently requested her transferred to the fleet for medical attention and a new posting. She was happy enough with that, but mostly she wanted a new eye.
She was moved to a rearward ship, along with some few other injured, and they were taken back to a station. The station was a supply hub with medical facilities attached.
When she arrived, she was moved to the medical wards, and a kig yar doctor was sent to check her out. She diagnosed her, and checked her over.
She told Vez that she had been extremely lucky. The shrapnel from the bullet had fragmented into the eye socket, and pulped the eye. The shrapnel was working itself deeper, and that Vez needed surgery to remove the metal.
Vez agreed, of course, and asked about a replacement eye. The doctor assured Vez that a replacement would likely work, and that she had little to worry about.
It set her heart at ease, and she was soon knocked out, and heading for surgery. When she awoke, the shrapnel was gone, and a new eye was set.
She had been in a medically induced coma to assist the implantation of the new eye and to heal after the numerous surgery procedures. Over 2 months had passed, and now she had to get used to her eye. Overall, as long as she got transferred under her mother, she thought life was looking very well.
