When a higher command level deigns to send a priority message to all squads in an AOE, you can guarantee things will be going to hell. When Battalion comes knocking, it goes double.

When I got coms from Battalion, along with every squad in a large radius of the western side of the city, I knew life was going to be shit again.

"All units, be advised, enemy offensive inbound based on the west of the city. Repeat, mass enemy offensive inbound. Expect contact in sub 1 hour. Reinforcements in 2. Over."

I wanted to pale, to throw something, maybe crush something with a fist. But, it would be useless.

Covenant forces always outnumbered us. Their tactics were generally poor, bust sometimes they spiced it ip with armor pushes, skirmish assaults, or maybe an air raid or two. But, when one has a literal ton of disposable infantry, why not use it?

If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

Supply hogs would be coming with whatever ammo could be scrounged by supply officers, and that would be it. They had to weather a shitstorm with luck.

I commed my squad, and begun a speech. Hopefully, it would help when the moral tanked in approximately 2 seconds.

"Lady's and gents, orders and news from Battalion. An enemy force is bound for us, and they have the idiocy to think they can ignore us! That ain't gonna happen. Our orders are to break them, to hold until the boys in rear decide to finally get out of bed! Thankfully, command has us to blunt this attack. So get your ammo, and prep for a supply drop. Get goin', now!" She barked.

A quick com chat to 6th squads leader and rhe tank commander, andthe plan of battle was chosen. The tank would be hull down as best as possible, and the squads qould centralize around the tank.

Sure, if the tank went up, they were fucked. But, if they decentralized and the tank still went up, they were fucked anyways.

I had lived through shit like this quite a few times, and each time they had a price. The only factor was if they could hold. If they could, they would likely get away with a few casualties from each squad. If something gave...

I sighed. Even in the best cases, I expect at least 4 to die with others taking critical injuries. Hell, besides her left arm, she has lost her right leg and arm to shit like this. I sighed again.

As we prepared to hold, the hog came in fast dropped what it had. They had buckled a M247 to the side of the hog, and I could see boxed of its ammo in the back. They unloaded quickly, and set the geavy machine gun up in record time.

Now all they could do was spread ammo, wait, and pray.
