Lyra, stared at empty space as Daniel had ended the communications with her properly this time. Ronan and the others were excited to know Daniel was alright and was adventuring in a fantasy world. As they talked excitedly among themselves, Lyra thought to herself how she could get to Daniel so she could help and protect him as he is in a new world on his. Well, for the most part on his own as he seemed to make some new allies. Then she remembered the Astralink Band was still a mystery to her, but she knows in theory, Daniel should be able to travel to other worlds with the Astralink Band but was unsure how too. She looked at the friends excitedly talking about traveling to other worlds and being able to do what Daniel is doing, when they get their own Astralink Bands. Lyra looked up at the red sky through the window, hoping to reach Daniel soon.
Arcturon and Cass along with everybody in the Queens presence were kneeling down and bowing their heads to show her respect. Daniel did the same as he slowly lifted his head to look around. "Rise" The queen said as everybody lifted their heads and stood up. People walked over to the queen to say their hellos as it was obvious they highly respected her. Arcturon looked to where Brannoc and Daniel were standing, on the other side where the Varkenn transport ship is. He waved Brannoc over and pointed ad Daniel as to bring him over to where him and Cass stood. "Come on Daniel, time to meet the Queen" Brannoc said with a smile. "The, wait, the Queen?" Daniel said surprised as he has never met anyone with such a high status before and was worried now. Brannoc guided Daniel along the wide stretch of the airship dock, the metal plating beneath them still warm from the engines that had powered the vessel in. The air smelled faintly of oil and cold steel, and the distant clatter of tools echoed from crews securing the mooring lines. Daniel kept pace beside him, trying not to stare at the towering silhouettes of Varkenn airships resting in their berths like sleeping giants.
“There they are,” Brannoc murmured.
Ahead, on the far side of the platform, Arcturon stood with Cass at his shoulder. Cass had his hands tucked into his coat pockets, posture relaxed but eyes sharp, tracking Daniel’s approach with a flicker of curiosity. Arcturon, by contrast, stood straight and still — the kind of stillness that came from discipline, not calm.
And beside them…
Daniel saw her.
Queen Seraphine Nyxen waited with the quiet authority of someone who didn’t need guards to command a space. Her presence alone reshaped the air around her. The matte?black gown, the sculpted collar, the obsidian band at her throat — all of it made her look like she belonged here more than the steel, the engines, or the sky itself.
Brannoc slowed as they neared the group, giving Daniel a small, grounding nod before stopping a respectful distance away.
“Commander,” Brannoc announced, voice steady. “I’ve brought him.”
Arcturon stepped forward, his gaze flicking briefly to Daniel before turning to the queen. “Your Majesty… this is Daniel. The one who helped me escape Aurellion.”
Cass shifted his weight, studying Daniel with open interest. Seraphine didn’t move — she simply regarded Daniel with those pale, assessing eyes, as if she were weighing not just who he was, but what he might become. The dock fell quiet around them. Daniel swallowed, suddenly aware of how small the platform felt with all eyes on him. "Daniel hesitantly kneeled down in front of the queen and bowed his head. "Rise" she said as Daniel hesitantly stood up again unsure what to do. Queen Seraphine stepped closer, the lanternlight catching the silver cuffs along her long elven ears. Up close, Daniel could see the subtle, elegant taper of them — not exaggerated, just refined, the kind of detail that made her presence feel older than the steel and engines around them.
Arcturon bowed his head slightly as she approached, but Seraphine’s attention was already fixed on Daniel.
“So,” she said, her voice smooth and steady, “you are the outsider who brought Arcturon back to me.”
Daniel swallowed. “I… did what I could.”
A faint breath of amusement touched her expression — not quite a smile, but something warmer than her reputation suggested. “Arcturon has been at my side longer than most of my council. He is stubborn, reckless, and entirely too willing to throw himself into danger for the sake of others.” Her eyes flicked to him, and Arcturon gave the smallest, resigned exhale.
She returned her gaze to Daniel. “For him to speak of you with respect is rare. For him to owe you his life is rarer still.”
Daniel felt the weight of her words settle on him — not heavy, but deliberate.
Seraphine inclined her head, a gesture that carried the quiet dignity of someone who did not offer gratitude lightly. “You have my thanks, Daniel of… wherever your world lies. Varkenn does not forget those who protect its own.”
Cass shifted beside Arcturon, watching Daniel with open curiosity. Brannoc stood a step behind, arms crossed, nodding once in approval.
Seraphine’s eyes softened just a fraction. “You are far from home, and I cannot yet say why you were brought here. But know this — you are not alone in this kingdom. Not while Arcturon stands, and not while I rule.”
She straightened, the moment of warmth folding back into her usual composed authority. “Now,” she said, “let us speak of what comes next.
The moment of gratitude settled into the air like a quiet ripple, and then Seraphine’s posture shifted — not cold, but composed, the way someone does when they’s ready to move from emotion to purpose.
Arcturon stepped slightly closer to her side, Cass falling in just behind him. Brannoc gave Daniel a small nudge with his elbow, subtle encouragement to follow. The five of them formed a loose circle near the edge of the dock, the airship’s hull towering behind them like a steel cliff.
Seraphine’s long ears angled slightly as she regarded the group, the silver cuffs along their edges catching the lanternlight. “We should speak somewhere less exposed,” she said. “The dock is no place for important conversations.”
Cass smirked faintly. “Especially with half the crew pretending not to eavesdrop.”
Arcturon shot him a look, but Seraphine didn’t seem bothered. If anything, she seemed used to Cass’s commentary.
She turned her attention back to Daniel. “Walk with us. There is much I need to understand — about you, and about what happened in Aurellion.”
Daniel nodded, still feeling the weight of her earlier words. Brannoc stepped to his side, a steady presence, while Arcturon and Cass took point.
Together, they began moving across the platform, boots striking the metal in a unified rhythm. The airship crews parted instinctively as the queen passed, heads bowing, conversations halting. Daniel felt the shift — not fear, but respect, the kind that came from a leader who didn’t need to raise her voice to command a room. The walkway opened into a broad corridor of dark stone and reinforced steel, lit by tall lanterns that cast long, sharp shadows along the walls. The hum of the airship dock faded behind them, replaced by a quieter, deeper resonance — the sound of a fortress that had stood for centuries.
Seraphine led the group with measured steps, her long elven ears angled slightly forward, listening to the subtle shifts in the hall. Arcturon walked just behind her, posture straight, every movement respectful but familiar. Cass followed with his hands tucked into his coat pockets, eyes flicking over every detail with restless curiosity. Brannoc stayed at Daniel’s side, steady and silent.
At the end of the corridor, two towering doors came into view — carved from darkwood reinforced with blackened steel, each panel etched with the sweeping, angular patterns of Varkenn’s crest. Two guards stood at attention, their armor matte and angular, helmets shaped to echo the sharp lines of elven design.
As Seraphine approached, the guards struck their spears against the floor in a synchronized, resonant thoom that echoed through the hall.
“Your Majesty,” one guard said, bowing his head.
Seraphine gave a small nod. “Open the hall.”
The guards pushed the doors inward.
Inside, the queen’s hall opened into a vast chamber washed in cool, filtered daylight. Towering windows lined both sides of the hall, each one stretching nearly from floor to arch. The tinted glass cast the incoming light into deep blues and muted silvers, painting the stone floor in shifting geometric shadows. Thin black metal veins reinforced the glass, giving the windows both elegance and strength. A long runner of dark fabric stretched from the entrance to the raised dais at the far end, where a throne of carved obsidian sat beneath a suspended ring of pale lanterns.
Seraphine stepped inside first, her presence filling the space with quiet authority. Arcturon and Cass followed. Brannoc gestured for Daniel to enter next.
As Daniel crossed the threshold, the doors closed behind them with a deep, echoing finality.
Seraphine turned slightly, her gaze settling on him. “Welcome to my hall, Daniel,” she said. “Here, we speak plainly. The queen led them to a table near the towering windows. "Please, have a seat" The queen said as everybody sat down. Daniel sat down, getting comfortable as did the others. The queen sat at the head of the table. "You may speak freely here" The queen said as she smiled at Daniel.
"My Queen, Aurellian tech has advanced so fast in the past month." Arcturon said as he looked at the Queen. Cass added, "He's right your Majesty, seems like they have been getting further ahead in their developments with their airships, their weaponry, and their new armor that looks like it's not from this world." The Queen thought for a moment as she knew they were right. She then turned to Daniel, as his sudden appearance in their world seemed like perfect timing. "You wouldn't happen to know what's going on, would you Daniel? The queen asked, as the others looked at him. Daniel explained he might know, as he saw the cultist earlier, being careless as he saw him wearing an Astralink Band. He explained to them all that he may be from his world. A world more advanced than this world, as he explained that man may be influencing the Aurellian kingdom. He explained what the band is and what it is capable of, Daniel told them he is barely even getting his hands on one by luck. He also mentioned it's capable of allowing one to travel to other worlds, he just doesn't know how to yet. The queen looked to her trusted allies sitting at the table, Daniel then remembered he could call up Lyra so she could better explain things. Daniel looked through his band again and called up Lyra, bringing up the drone. Arcturon and the others looked at the drone floating next to Daniel as the image of Lyra popped open. "Lyra" Daniel called out to her. "Oh, Daniel, what's going on? she replied, as she looked around as saw Arcturon and the others sitting with Daniel and the Queen was there too. "Hello, your majesty" Lyra said as she bowed. But was rudely interrupted by Ronan who showed no restraint on being shameless. "Your majesty! I'm Ronan, He managed to say as Lyra shoved him off camera and barely anything could be heard after that. Moments later Lyra reappeared.
"Sorry for that shameless display of disrespect" Lyra said as she bowed again in respect to the queen. The queen giggled a bit and said for Lyra to continue. Daniel asked Lyra to explain their world to the queen and how it ties with the Astralink Bands. Lyra, informed the queen and everyone else at the table about Daniels world, and what's been going on. How Daniel's world fell to chaos, how the Astralink Bands and the Archon Engine are tied to everything. How the Archon Engine was more powerful than anyone else could comprehend, how that power invaded other worlds, timelines, alternate dimensions. The possibilities were endless. The queen looked so confused, unsure on where to begin to fix things. Daniel then explained everything that's been going on while he was there. How the mysterious stranger contacted him and how he manages to see the band he was wearing. Lyra then knew what was going on in the world Daniel was in now as someone is messing with that world and forcing a kind of evolution. As to why, they were unsure of that. "Daniel, you must find that mysterious stranger and stop him at all cost" Lyra said with a serious demeanor. Daniel swallowed hard, as he knew he was in a position he did not want. But thought to himself, what could he do. Lyra explained since the mysterious stranger had made contact with Daniel, maybe he used his Astralink Band to make contact with Daniel. And if he did, she would be able to trace his call and locate him. Since he was careless enough to let his band be seen. "Give me some time Daniel, and I will get back to you in a moment" Lyra said lastly as she hung up the call with Daniel. He then turned his attention back to the Queen and the others, Arcturon asked if they would be able to find the mysterious stranger who made contact with him on the Aurellian transport vessel. Daniel explained they could if the mysterious stranger really is careless as Lyra and him thought to be.

Lyra then scanned through Daniel's Astralink Band connecting with it through the mechanics in her arms. As if she was hacking his Astralink Band searching for the mysterious strangers last call with Daniel. Projections cast through her arms as windows with information. Amazingly enough she could do all that through the world she was in and away from Daniel who was in another world. She's done this once before, a time where she saved Daniel from TRUs. Laying beside her, Ronan, mouth still gagged, arms and legs tied up as she completely ignored him from his outburst earlier trying to talk with the Queen. Charice and the others ignored him as well as they watched with amazement as Lyra was hacking and finding out the location of the mysterious stranger who was in the same world as Daniel was in. Lyra moved with such speed; her arms and fingers seemed like a blur to the group of friends watching as her focus seemed unbreakable. Lyra explained to them she knew what she was doing as she knew her way around the system. She explained she travelled through back doors to move around worlds, as some worlds reject her. She explained there are rules to follow, and she didn't care to break them so as long as Daniel was safe. "So, why is Daniel so important to you? Why risk your own life for his?" Naya questioned Lyra as she worked. Lyra just explained to the group, it's best they don't know, or push the matter any further.
Daniel, and everybody else sitting at the table concluded their meeting for now as Daniel explained to the Queen, he'd let her know anything else after he hears from Lyra. "Of course Daniel, I will inform the rest of my council of the situation once they return.' The queen said to Daniel as they all got up and headed out. The queen, Arcturon, Cass, and Brannoc headed one way and Daniel was lead out by a knight. The knight guiding Daniel out asked if he needed a guide to show him around the Kingdom. "I'll be fine on my own thank you" Daniel told the knight as the knight left him and went on their own way. Daniel looked at his band and realized it had mapped out the entire kingdom. Even showing information on crucial spots in the castle like shops, places to eat. "Seems just like a video game." Daniel said to himself smiling as he decided to head to the weapon shop and see if he could get a better bow as the one he has been using has shown serious wears and tears. He looked at his very first bow, decided to keep it, but buy a new one. Maybe some new gear. Then he realized he's not sure what currency the kingdom uses and is immediately bummed out. Still, he decided to see what wepons the kingdom offered and made his way to the closest weapon shop his band showed him. He followed the trail as it was marked on his Astralink Band, as he walked towards his destinatin he looked in amazement as there was a huge difference in culture and races. There were the typical elves and dwarves, shorter races like they were hobbits or something. The streets of Varkenn were already overwhelming — slate?blue stone, angular rooftops, banners that snapped like they were made of metal rather than cloth. But nothing hit Daniel harder than the moment he stepped into the open market square.
At first, he thought the movement was just the wind. A flick of something behind a passerby. A twitch of an ear that wasn’t shaped like any ear he’d ever seen.
Then one of them turned fully toward him.
A young woman — human at a glance — but with soft, triangular ears rising from her hair, each one tracking sound with tiny, precise adjustments. Her tail swayed behind her in a slow, thoughtful arc as she bartered with a merchant. She wasn’t trying to be cute or performative; it was simply part of her body language, as natural as a hand gesture.
Daniel froze mid?step.
Another figure brushed past him — this one male, tall, broad?shouldered, carrying a crate like it weighed nothing. His tail flicked once in irritation when someone bumped him, and his pupils narrowed to thin slits before relaxing again. He gave Daniel a brief, curious glance, as if sensing the outsider’s shock.
Daniel’s breath caught.
They weren’t costumes. They weren’t illusions. They were people. A pair of children darted between stalls, laughing, their ears perked and twitching with every sound. One skidded to a stop when he noticed Daniel staring. The boy’s tail puffed slightly — startled — then settled when he realized Daniel wasn’t a threat. Daniel managed a small, awkward wave. The boy blinked, then grinned, showing tiny, sharp canines before sprinting off again.
Everywhere Daniel looked, Tevari moved through the city like threads woven into its fabric — men with sleek, panther?dark ears and quiet, predatory grace; women with soft, tufted tails and bright, expressive eyes; elders whose ears drooped with age, their tails wrapped neatly around their waists as they sat and talked.
Daniel took a slow step back, still absorbing it all.
“Quite the sight, isn’t it?” Daniel nearly jumped. Brannoc had appeared beside him without warning — he hadn’t been there a heartbeat ago.
“Dude—” Daniel hissed under his breath. “Where did you even come from? You weren’t with me!”
Brannoc shrugged, completely unbothered. “You wander. I follow. Simple enough.”
Daniel stared at him, then back at the Tevari. “What… what are they?”
Brannoc’s mouth curved in a faint, amused smile. “Tevari. Old clans. Older instincts. They’ve lived in Varkenn longer than most. Loyal, sharp, and quick to read a stranger. Don’t stare too long — they read eyes like books.” Daniel immediately looked away, then realized that probably looked worse, then looked back, then panicked internally.
Brannoc chuckled. “Relax. They can smell fear, but they don’t bite unless you deserve it.”
A Tevari woman passing by glanced at Daniel — just assessing — her ears tilting forward with interest. Daniel felt the weight of her attention like a physical thing before she nodded politely and continued on. He exhaled slowly. This world kept getting stranger. And somehow… more alive. "Also, the queen asked me to give you a tour of the kingdom and help you out how ever I can" Brannoc told Daniel with a smile on his face. Daniel explained to Brannoc he wanted to see what weapons they were offering in the nearest weapons shop, as he needed a new one as his bow was worn out from use. Brannoc told Daniel he knew some places that made exceptionally great weapons. As Daniel and Brannoc made their way to the weapon shop, Daniel was staring at the ocean from the side of the castle they were walking through. He was amazed as it's been so long since he last saw the ocean. "This side of the castle has some of the best views of the ocean" Brannoc said as they stopped for a moment and stared at the ocean. Daniel could see so many people down below on the beach enjoying themselves. He began thinking of the war the two kingdoms were locked in, he knew he wanted to stop the mysterious stranger but was unsure how to do it. "Are you alright Daniel?" Brannoc asked as Daniel seemed to be lost in thought.
"I'm fine, thank you Brannoc" Daniel replied saying they should continue, as it would help keep his mind busy. Daniel and Brannoc walked making small talks, as Brannoc explained more about the kingdom of Varkenn. The bell above the door gave a soft metallic tink as Daniel stepped inside, and for a moment he forgot how to breathe. The place didn’t look like a shop so much as a curated armory carved out of a dream — or more accurately, the kind of high?end weapons vendor he’d only ever seen in RPGs. Sunlight from the massive open windows spilled across the floor in warm gold, carrying the smell of salt and distant bonfires from the beach below. The ocean stretched out beyond the overlook, waves rolling in slow, steady breaths that made the whole room feel alive.
Racks of weapons lined the walls in precise, almost reverent arrangements. Blades of every shape rested on dark wooden mounts, each one polished to a mirror sheen. Some were simple and utilitarian; others were works of art, etched with patterns that caught the light like shifting scales. A row of spears stood upright near the entrance, their tips glinting like stars. Even the bows — sleek, curved, impossibly elegant — looked like they belonged in the hands of heroes, not on display hooks.
Daniel drifted forward without realizing he was moving. His fingers hovered just above the hilt of a short sword, the metal reflecting his face back at him in a warped, shimmering curve. He swallowed hard.
He’d never imagined himself standing in a place like this. Not in real life. Not with the smell of steel and oiled leather mixing with ocean air. Not with the quiet hum of a nearby forge drifting in from the blacksmith’s workspace outside.
Brannoc stepped in behind him, the floorboards creaking under his weight. “First time in a proper armory?” he asked, voice low and amused.
Daniel nodded, eyes still wide. “I mean… yeah. This is the kind of place you only see in video games. Or movies. Not—” He gestured vaguely at the world around him. “Not like this.”
Brannoc gave a soft grunt of approval, unsure what video games or movies are, he just went along with Daniel. “Good. Means you’ll respect the tools you choose.”
Daniel moved deeper into the shop, turning slowly, taking everything in. The way the sunlight hit the blades. The faint warmth radiating from the forge outside. The quiet clink of metal as the shopkeeper adjusted something behind the counter. Every detail felt impossibly vivid, like the world was trying to make sure he didn’t forget this moment. Daniel then saw staves, obviously for people who use magic. Daniel thought, maybe a class change would be awesome. Going from a bow wielding rogue to a spell caster of some sorts. Daniel saw srolls to learn certain magic, and spell books on learning spells. Then Daniel thought to himself, as if he had the money, then laughed. Brannoc stood by and was wondering why Daniel was laughing, Daniel explained when he somehow earned money, he'll come back and get something as he just wanted to see what they were offering. "It's fine Daniel, get what you want, the queen has asked me to treat you to whatever you want today, that's why I'm here." Brannoc said to Daniel. Daniel's eye went wide as excitement ran through his body. "But I can't" Daniel said as he didn't want to be a bother to Brannoc. Brannoc insisted as the queen wanted to repay him for helping Arcturon escape. "Well, if you insist" Daniel said knowing full well the excitement was too much as he looked through the weapons shop like an unsupervised kid running through a toy store. As Daniel was looking through the shop, Brannoc got a message on some communicator he had that was powered by magic. Brannoc explained to Daniel he had to immediately rush out as a battle broke out on the border of Varkenn. Daniel told Brannoc he'll go with him as new gear can wait. The two then rushed off to the airship docks, where Brannoc was being summoned too.
