Getting along

After Johan finished his plans to kill Lucius, he decided to rest up but before he could he suddenly realized something:

"The only thing I know about combat is from my father and Lucius. Lucius also defeated my father and by the looks of it is teaching me the same style of swordsmanship as my father. So for me to win against him, I must train without him more but that will lower my skills because I can only practice what I know and I may add my mistakes into it.

That can be fixed through training using my soul city but I have to survive first, and become a rank 4, and there's no way to see how long that will take. It doesn't matter either way I become better.

I'll go to bed and in the morning I'll learn about the rest of the crew."

As he said his last few words he couldn't help but think of Rodolfo's philosophy:

"Rodolfo fights for what people value while my father fights for the protection of himself and others. In my father's philosophy my revenge is wrong. Wait no, no it's not. I'm protecting my father's honor and by killing Lucius I will prevent the death of others. Plus Rodolfo doesn't believe revenge is wrong.

That means revenge should be fine, as long as my revenge protects people it should be fine. Yeah it's fine, it's fine."

Johan crawled into bed and tucked the blanket over his small body. As he looked at the door of his new room, he suddenly remembered his father's corpse as well as Lucius kicking him repeatedly. As he clenched his hands, he whispered softly:

"I can take revenge as long as by doing so I can protect myself and others from harm."

About 9 hours later, Johan woke up, and got out of bed before going to the bathroom.

After he finished brushing his teeth, took a shower, and put on some clothes.

After that, Johan exited his room and went to the ship's cafeteria. After entering the cafeteria, Johan ordered a bowl of white rice, a plate of grilled fish, and a glass of sour pop.

After finding a place to sit, Johan began eating his food.

After a few minutes, as Johan was munching on one of the grilled fish, he suddenly saw someone approaching him. The person seemed to be around 15 years old, he had blond hair, blue eyes, a faint scar on his lip, as well as a few cuts and brushes on his face that seemed fresh.

It was one of the fighters from yesterday.

The teen sat in front of Johan as he placed down a bowl of clam chowder and a glass of cola.

As the teen started to eat, he saw Johan looking at him for a few seconds before going back to eating his fish:

"Hey kid, what's wrong? You've never seen a few injuries before?"

The teen spoke in english, his accent was that of someone from eastern new England.

'Maybe the first thing I should have done is take language classes.' Johan thought as he heard the teen speak.

At the next moment, a girl who was 13 years old sat down on the second seat left of Johan.

She had black hair, a roundish face, large black eyes, and slightly plump lips. She wore a simple white shirt, jeans, and grey boots.

The only thing about her outfit was the necklace around her neck that contained three bright red gems.

Her meal consisted of rice, some sort of soup, and a glass of sour pop.

"Why hello there. If you don't mind, could you tell me what this guy said?" Johan asked the girl to his left.

The girl looked at him, clearly confused before she opened her mouth:

  "What are you saying?"

The girl said in Korean as she turned towards Johan.

At this moment, the guy with the cuts on his face thought in his mind:

'That kid didn't understand a single word I said didn't he? In fact he literally just spoke to Yoon in some Asian language and since she doesn't understand him that means he's not Korean, Chinese, or Vietnamese so the options are Japanese, Thai, Tagalog, Indonesian, Khmer, Burmese.'

"Yoon, try asking him if he's from Japan, Thailand, The Philippines, Cambodia, or Myanmar."

The male teen said as he looked at the girl on Johan's left. She turned towards him before looking back at the child to her right:

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

  "Sure."

After she said that, she took out a device that then made a holographic image of the Mercator Project.

She then pointed at Johan before pointing at the hologram of the map.

'She's trying to see where I'm from and since she only did this after the guy spoke to her, that means it was his idea. Not only that but he also has realized I couldn't understand him.'

After Johan thought this, he pointed at Japan before speaking "Nihon (日本)."

  "I think he's Japanese."

Yoon spoke as she turned towards the teen on the other side of the table.

  "Yeah I could tell."

The teen replied to her, his tone as well as attitude showing a bit of annoyance.

'If I wanna get closer to the crew then I gotta learn different languages. The good thing is that the fighter pathway gives a boast in memory and in intelligence. Bad thing, I have to get to rank 3 to start getting memory buffs and intelligence is at rank 5.'

As Johan was thinking of this before he heard the girl next to him speak to him before it got translated into Japanese:

  "Can you understand me now?"

  "Yeah."

"Well, what's your name?" "Johan. Nakaya Johan (Johan Nakaya)."

"Why did his name switch places?"

The male teen said after hearing both Johan and Yoon's phone's translation.

"That's because in Japan, people say their surname first."

"But why did it translate it?"

"So you know what's his first name and his last name."

The girl on Johan's left replied, her tone slightly angry, and annoyed.

Johan who was hearing this conversation thought to himself:

'No he's right, that could make it confusing. You hear the guy say his name and the computer spits it out reversed.'

After a few seconds, the male teen looked towards Johan before speaking:

"Well Nakaya Johan, pretty sure that's how you say your full name properly well anyways imma call you Johan from now on also that explains why your so pale, you know being a German mixed anyways, I'm Edward Smith, and this is Choi Ha-yoon. Just like you, her last name goes first. So anyways, how long you've here?"

  "January 12th of this year."

Johan replied as he looked at Edward in front of him.

Edward took a sip of his cola before speaking:

"So that's why I haven't seen you around. I'm guessing you aren't a controller yet?"

"That is correct." Johan said before finishing his last piece of grilled fish.

  "So why are you here?"

Ha-yoon said as she drank some of her soda. Johan thought for a moment before speaking:

"I wish to fix my father's failure.

"Your dad got killed by one of those guys?"

Edward said as he looked at Johan.

  "Well that was fast."

  Ha-yoon spoke:

"Hey don't worry, in fact we have similar reasons for being here, well he does, I don't. I was picked up off the streets by Lucius while this hothead got both his parents killed by Audrey. In case you don't know, she's the redhead who stored the ship into a snowglobe."

Johan drank the last bit of his soda before responding:

"I feel like we shouldn't be talking like it's normal, while anyways I'll cya later."

As he said that he got from his seat and left the cafeteria.

After returning to his room, Johan began training his swordsmanship, mainly practicing his ability to chain attacks together into a functionable combat, as well as his edge alignment.

After about 15 minutes of this, he stopped before going to read the book about the general knowledge of controllers that Rodolfo gave him.

Controller weapons are weapons that have been infused with the ki, the mental imprint, soul, or memories of a controller.

They are aspects that can influence the creation and abilities of a controller weapon. The three ways a controller weapon can be made are, they are created by a fighter, created by the aftermath of controller events, and made by a ritual involving divinity. The things that affect how a controller weapon works is how powerful the ki, mental imprint, soul, or memories are as well as who they belong to. The pathway of the former, what materials were used to make it, and who it was made by.

Controller beasts are animals that are controllers, be they born as one or made into one, and just like controllers, controller beasts are able to turn into weapons.

One of the most famous examples of a controller beast that turned into a controller weapon was during the battle of the English channel during the war of hexes on May 27th 2913.

The massive snake-like creature that caused massive casualties on both sides is called "The danger noodle" coined by former captain of squad 9 Julius Adro.

Don't ask me why this mad-lad thought of naming a giant snake that can control fire and tank shots from a nuclear bomb "The danger noodle".

Anyways after it's death, it's reminded alongside with the corpses of the fallen controllers who were of the fire nature, and the parts of the earth that were on said corpse, turned into a halberd that seemed to be made of magma that had lava dripping down from the blade.

Now I'm not gonna go into details for that because well I don't know them but anyways that's really how a controller weapon is made by the environment.

After reading all of that, Johan gained a few more ideas but ran into problems with each one:

"I need a good controller weapon but where would I get it? I could steal it. No, that won't work. What about buying it? I don't have money. I could ask for one but why would they give me one? In fact, how would I use it? I'm not even a controller yet so I can't even use ki. My best course of action is to become a controller but the question is how do I become a controller?"

As Johan finishes his sentence, Lucius suddenly burst through the door and spoke with his hands in his pockets:

"Yo kid come with me, i'm making you into a controller."
