CONNIE & TANNER

  CONNIE & TANNER

Tanner putting his hand on Connie’s shoulder, “I’ll hold their attention, you damage ok? If I need heals I’ll call out.”

Connie gives him a nervous smile and says, “Sorry, I’m just not sure how to do this. I’ve never been just pure damage.”

Tanner pauses, then asks, “Want some advice?”

  “Please.”

“First off take a deep breath and calm down. Hit the wargs first, hit them with curses or anything else you can think of to slow them down. Then slow the goblins and switch back to the wargs. Focus on one at a time, when one dies heal me. Then get the next warg. When it dies heal me. Then the goblins, just take each foe, one at a time, You will do fine.”

“How are you so calm, your going to get hurt.”

With a shrug, Tanner replies, “I always get hurt but I have a kick ass healer backing me up, so I know not to worry about it. Now deep breaths and let's get behind these trees.”

Connie, breathing deep and slow, gains confidence, Tanner tells her in a low voice. “We are in the right spot, they both just came out of the woods, they will cross just in front of us.”

“Can you count down so I know when to attack?”

“Sure can, they’re in position.” Tanner jumps from behind the tree and yells at the goblins. Charging forward, Tanner casts a small Arcane Explosion at the wargs, stunning them and their riders. Tanner roars, “One.” with a chop at the closest goblin's leg. Giving the wounded goblin a backhand slash with his other sword, he yells, “Two.” He reaches out and stabs the second goblin in the stomach. He steps back a pace and attacks the wargs, yelling, “Three. Now Connie.” Keeping the wargs occupied with his twirling swords, staying just in front of the snarling mouths of the demonic looking wolves. Connie, steps out from the tree, and casts her curse spells on each warg, slowing them. Seeing her results gives her a needed boast of confidence. She then casts curse spells on the two goblins. Connie then shifts to her Celestial Missiles spells cast onto the wargs. Casting her Harm spells from her left hand and missile spells from her right hand, alternating like a boxer giving a one-two combination. Tanner, watching out for her attack angles, steps further left, giving her clear shots into the heads and necks of the four-legged menaces. The first warg soon falls, pinning its rider. The goblin slowed from the curse could not move off its mount in time. Tanner, freed from the pressure of his opponents, can now speed his sword strikes on the remaining warg’s snout, using his other sword to parry the goblin rider’s attempts to reach him. Feeling Connie's healing spells, Tanner resets himself to fend off the remaining mount and rider. Connie once again casts her spells at the head and neck of the hulking wolf like creature. When the warg falls, Tanner swipes the goblin off of the dying mount's back with a double sword slash. His swords weave a pattern the dazed goblin can not track. Aggressively pushing the goblin around the small battlefield with his attacks, Connie shifts her target to the pinned goblin, trying to break free of his mount. Pounding spell after spell into the helpless monster until it dies. Looking for the last goblin, she is just in time to see Tanner split its head open from an overhand sword strike.

Tanner, staggering away, gasping for breath, drops to his knees and says, “Pretty sure I need a heal.” Tanner gives Connie an exhausted smile. Connie running over to the worn out young man, lays her hands on his head and casts Healing Touch. “Ahh that’s the stuff,” Tanner sighs.

Hearing a sound like thunder from the direction Milly and Jackson are fighting. Connie pulls her boyfriend to his feet. Laughing at him. “Stop slacking off and make a hole in that fence lazy bones. We need to get back to the attack point.”

With a grin, Tanner casts Arcane Explosion at the fence, blowing up several feet of the crude fortification, pausing a moment to watch the debris fall. “We need to get to the attack point now.”

“Yes Boss,” Connie replies with a snappy salute. Tanner laughs as they run off. The couple turn and jog to the next staging point. Connie asks, “Hey Tanner, is it always like that?”

  “Is what always like what?”

“Fighting like that, was pretty intense.”

With a short laugh, Tanner tells her, “Yeah pretty much, why did somebody get the damage bug?” he teases her.

“Maybe,” with a thoughtful look on her face.
