1 round cheese wheel (preferably semi-soft)
Special Ingredient:
1 cup of coffee: dark, strong, aromatic (the stronger the brew, the better the flavor balance)
Tools Required:
Two round shields (used as makeshift skillets)
Firepit with stones
One extremely patient adventuring party
Steps
1. Prepare the Meat
Hang the owlbear upside down, drain, and clean. Separate the ribs, haunch, and breast. Keep the flesh fresh and avoid lightning scorch marks if possible.
System Tip: Lightning damage adds natural sear, grants +5 flavor depth.
2. Slow Roast (Underground Pit Method)
Place thicker cuts between two shields. Surround with onions, potatoes, garlic, salt, and milk. Pour half of the coffee over. Bury under soil and cover with hot stones.
Let cook until sunset or until “the world smells like patience.”
3. Grind & Form Patties
Mince leaner cuts finely. Mix with eggs, onion, salt, herbs, and remaining spices. Shape into thick patties.
James’s Note: “If it doesn’t stick to your hand, it won’t stick to your soul.”
4. Bake the Buns
Combine flour, milk, sugar, and salt. Knead with conviction. Form into buns, cover, and rest near fire.
If dough talks back, too much mana in the air.
5. Assembly of the Divine
Once the buried roast is done, use its broth as glaze. Fry patties on shield-skillets, drizzle glaze, and layer:
Bun (lightly soaked in broth)
Patty
Slices of roast
Melted cheese
Onion rings
Final drizzle of dark coffee glaze
6. Serve with Dignity
Add mashed potatoes on the side. Serve while the stars begin to blink.
Flavor Profile
Taste: Bitter, sweet, smoky, and divine.
Texture: Melts upon bite.
Aroma: Like rain-soaked soil meeting roasted coffee.
Effect: Restores 30% HP, boosts morale, makes Villen shut up for 30 seconds.
Lore Note
“They said coffee was a waste on monsters. James disagreed. He believed even beasts could be redeemed, if marinated long enough.”
