We lie there on the floor for a moment.
Totally silent.
I’m happy.
Knock knock.
…Dammit.
Reluctantly, I peel myself off the floor. The girls dust themselves off; both of them puff their cheeks at me. They look ridiculously cute.
I open the door. It’s the doctor.
I stare at him.
“Give me a second.”
I close the door again, turn to the girls.
“Both of you—cancel your plans for tomorrow and the day after. You’re staying in my room tonight and tomorrow night. Also—just regular pajamas and normal clothes. Nothing sexy. We have important matters to discuss, so no distractions.”
They glance at each other… then bow in unison.

I open the door. They leave.
I let the doctor in.
“I am Doctor Fujiama. Pleased to meet you, Sir Hero. We need to talk.”
And we do.
Later That Night
I’m at my desk writing in my diary. The talk with Dr. Fujiama was… enlightening. That’s what I’m recording right now.
Knock knock.
I open the door.
It’s them—suitcases in hand, wearing modest pajamas. Good.
“Come on in and get settled. I’m just finishing up. We’ll talk once I’m done.”
They come inside. I point around the room like a flight attendant.
“That’s your bed. This one’s mine. You each get a wardrobe. Neither of you is leaving until we finish talking. I arranged meals to be delivered, so settle in.”
I return to the desk and wrap up my diary entry.
When I get up, they’re still unpacking, folding, organizing.
I wait until they sit on the couches I set out.
Time to begin.
“Now—I'm sure you both have questions about things I haven’t told you. Or maybe there’s something specific you want to know.
HOWEVER—
to save us all time, I’d like you two to read my diary together. I’ll be here to answer everything afterward.
Any questions?”
Both hands shoot up. They look like students in a very polite classroom.
“Yes, Roka?”
“What will we talk about after?”
Felmina lowers her hand; looks like they had the same question.
“Our future together.”
Roka nods. “I see.”
“Well then, let’s get started.”
I take the diary from my desk, walk over, and place it in front of them.
Then I flop down onto my bed and lie on my back.
They open the diary.
And begin reading.
