Chapter 3 – The Heart of Twilight Abyss

The air inside the dungeon was cold and thick. Every breath Dahlia took tasted like damp stone and ancient magic. The glow from her hands barely lit the cavern around her, casting long, trembling shadows that danced along jagged walls.

She took a careful step forward. Her pulse hammered in her chest, not just from fear, but from the excitement that coursed through her veins. This was no longer her bedroom. No longer a game. This was real, and survival depended entirely on her skill and courage.

Ahead, the ground dropped into a massive hall. Stalactites hung from the ceiling like frozen teeth, and glowing crystals littered the floor, pulsing softly with magic. Somewhere deep inside, she heard the low growl of a massive creature.

Her fingers tingled. This is it… my first real dungeon fight.

She summoned her energy, violet sparks dancing around her fingertips. I have to be careful. One mistake… Her thoughts were interrupted by a rumble beneath her feet.

From the shadows, the Guardian of the Abyss emerged. Its body was huge, made of jagged crystal that gleamed with molten light. Its eyes locked onto her, glowing gold.

Dahlia’s hands shook. She had defeated smaller monsters before, but this was different. This was the boss. Every instinct screamed at her: Run.

But she couldn’t. Not now. She had a purpose. She had a name. She had to survive.

“Arcane Blast!” she shouted, firing a sphere of violet energy. It struck the Guardian’s chest. Sparks flew, but the creature barely flinched.

It growled, a sound so deep it made the walls vibrate. Then, with a swift motion, it lunged. Dahlia barely rolled aside, the force knocking her against a jagged crystal. Pain shot through her arm, but she gritted her teeth and stood.

  I can do this… I have to do this…

She concentrated, drawing more energy than ever before. Void Surge! A wave of dark energy collided with the Guardian. Cracks spread across its crystal body. Dahlia’s heart leapt—she had made an impact!

But the Guardian wasn’t done. It smashed its massive crystal arm down, sending rocks and debris flying. Dahlia dove aside, rolling across the uneven floor. She felt a sharp pain in her shoulder but ignored it.

Suddenly, a familiar voice echoed through the cavern.

  “Impressive.”

Dahlia froze. From the shadows, the golden-haired boy appeared, arms crossed, smirk still on his face. “You’ve got guts, mage. I didn’t expect you to make it this far.”

Her eyes narrowed. “Who are you? Why are you following me?”

He shrugged casually. “Curiosity. Let’s just say… I’m someone who watches new players. And I like to see who survives.”

The Guardian roared again, turning toward the boy. His smirk didn’t falter. With a flick of his hand, dark energy lashed out, distracting the beast. Dahlia saw her chance. She summoned everything left in her, channeling her magic into a massive spell.

  “Arcane Nova!”

A brilliant explosion of violet light engulfed the Guardian. Crystals cracked and shattered, and the monster let out a deafening roar before collapsing into shards. The cavern fell silent, dust settling in the glow of Dahlia’s magic.

She sank to her knees, exhausted, chest heaving. She had survived. She had defeated a boss.

But the golden-haired boy stepped closer, his eyes gleaming. “Not bad,” he said, voice low. “But don’t think this was luck. This world… it’s dangerous. You’ll need more than raw power to survive here.”

Dahlia tried to catch her breath, realizing he was right. Monsters weren’t the only threat. The dungeon, the world… even people could be deadly.

Before she could ask another question, the ground trembled violently. A deep, guttural growl echoed from the shadows behind her.

Her eyes widened in horror. Emerging from a tunnel deeper in the dungeon were more massive creatures—twice the size of the Guardian she had just defeated. Their glowing eyes and jagged forms reflected the dim light, and their roars shook the cavern walls.

Dahlia’s hands flared with magic. She had barely survived the last fight. Could she survive this?

The golden-haired boy smiled, a dangerous gleam in his eyes. “Looks like your real test… has just begun.”

Dahlia’s heart pounded as she faced the oncoming horde. She had to rise. She had to survive.

  The creatures lunged.

And Dahlia cast her next spell.

  To be continued…
