Chapter -35 -The land of dead

Chapter -35 -The land of dead

Under the ever crimson skies of the demon realm existed the land of crimson filled with constant blood shed, a place where life is as fleeting as a passing wind. A land of monsters. The shield of the demon realm is the western kingdom but the true defender of the lifes of the demons is the hell star. The land of the abominations, the land of the dead, the land glowing crimson under the blue moon's shine.

In the hell star’s kingdom, under the blue moon's glow,A young demon boy lying in the lap of his grandmother in their small but cozy house spoke,“Grandma, why are we not allowed to go out in the night of full moon?”

Grandma replied,“My child, the land we live on was once a safe haven, lush with green and life under the protection of the grand totem of life. One day a group of foolish demons greedy for the totem’s miracle wanted to take it for themselves, they resorted to corrupt the totem. They sacrificed children born on the full moon, bathing the totem under blood. The totem of protection which gave life for centuries was stained with blood, corrupted. But the foolish mages underestimated the totem’s power. The corrupted totem filled with resentment did something none expected, it killed the blood mages and cursed the land calling upon the vengeful fallen. That night 20 years ago I still remember the fallen demon rose from their graves, all those dead were walking the plane of the living, their bites capable of corrupting the living. They came as mindless monsters only devouring all the life out of the living, turning them into their own.

The whole demon realm faced the threat of annihilation that night, the land burned, the air filled with screams. The dead reached the town hall where the ordinary demons seeked refuge, every abled hand went out to fight. We did our best but it wasn't enough. The guards of the village kept dying, the hell knights were away, not in the kingdom at that time. The horde of dead reached us. When we thought everything was over, that's when the miracle happened — a bright crimson light illuminated the realm, then a grand crimson light blinding our eyes filled the skies. We all fainted, but when we woke up we saw our king riding his jet black steed.

Single handedly he suppressed the totem and found peace again, the dead returned to their graves. Alas it was but a temporary solution. Every full moon since then the totem’s power surpass that of the hell star’s magic circle. The dead walk the earth that night again, the hell knights stand guard, give their lifes for us to protect us. Even the young prince gave his life to protect our own.

Remember forever be grateful to the hell star and the hell knights. It is thanks to them giving their lifes that we are able to peacefully sleep.”

Grandma looked below — the child was already fast asleep. She smiled, slowly put him on his cot and left.

In the jet black castle standing in the middle of the southern kingdom, under the room illuminated by the blue rays of the full moon,The hell star sat in his chair in front of his piling paperwork when the silence of the room was disturbed by the knock on the door.

“Come in,” said the hell star.

In entered a weary mid aged demon with dark circles under his eyes, aged beyond his years, exhaustion filling his face. He spoke,“My king, it’s ready.”

Hell star spoke,“Then let’s move, Goodwin.”

“Yes sir,” said Goodwin the butler.

The duo arrived in a dark room lit by candle flames. In the centre a grand magic circle, surrounding that stood hooded mages. The room reeked of blood, the air filled with silent chants.

  Hell star spoke,“Begin.”

A huge underground door opened out of which came a walking dead, limbs chained, mouth covered, restrained by hell knights dragged across to the centre of the magic circle.

The hell knights nailed the chain to the ground. The undead aggressive under the blue moon's light. One of the hooded mages came front, raised his hand and slit it with a knife. He spoke words that made the hair on Goodwin's body stand. The air vibrated, mana screamed. The blood filled the circle.

The struggling undead’s mouth guard broke. The blood rose, engulfed the undead. It screamed of horrifying pain. The shriek made the younger hooded mages fall to the ground, bleed out of their ears.

The head mage raised his hand, erecting a blood barrier. The chants continued, so did the screams. After a horrifying minute which felt like it would never end, the blood seeped into the undead.

The chants stopped. After a brief moment of silence the undead moved again — its spine protruding out, its nails grown longer, its figure more gore and gruesome like a berserker of the legends. The aggressive abomination broke free the chains. It lunges forward, the abomination's claws forward towards the head mage.

Just as its claw was about to rip the mage’s head off, a huge sword flew and cut the abomination into two pieces. It was swung by the hell star.

The head mage spoke,“Experiment 789 failed, my lord. Don’t worry, we are closer than ever. Soon we will achieve it.”

The hell star nodded and left.

In his room,The hell star sat at his desk. He opened his drawer, took out a picture of a young demon in armour of the hell knights.

He spoke,“Just a little longer. Wait for me. We will meet soon, my son.”

The silence was broken by the door swinging open.

“My lord, there was a chaos in the underground prison.”

  Hell star spoke,“What happened?”

Goodwin replied,“An unknown demon entered the prison, opened the magic wards releasing the subjects. But we got it under control, but.....”

The hell star looked at Goodwin — Goodwin's forehead sweating, eyes filled with fear.

  He asked,“But what?”

Goodwin spoke,“Sir… the cell no. 90 is empty.”

Hell star’s eyes widened. His mana released, suffocating the demons in the whole castle. All were on their knees.

Hell star screamed,“What…? Gather the knights! Find him, find him now!”

The chaos began again. But unaware of all this, in a land away from there, our young demon was ready to face yet another struggle.

Under the glow of the twin suns ,on a lush green grassland before the gates of the mage kingdom . The kingdom moving on from the recent tragedy ,still bustling .

In front of the gate on carriage sat

Ryan ,he spoke,“C’mon Melody, Leo, you are late! The carriage to the central kingdom is late, let’s go.”

  Leo and Melody spoke,“Coming.”

Waving their goodbye to the old tower master,

The trio got on the carriage, starting their new journey.

What awaits them? To find out, keep reading.
