Episode 3 - Broken Frame

  RECAP

  WAKE UP WAKE UP

When I opened my eyes I saw an old fashioned house with flying light spheres.

So it's all just a dream ,Still it's my past where I can't possibly return, I guess.

I have to find a way to return to my world in time or else I can't possibly meet her on time.

Still what I can do, I was cursed, At least that's what everyone will call a magicless being . Is this our end? I wish I could have said those words before.

  EPISODE 3

I wake up staring at a wooden ceiling.

It takes a few seconds to realize, it's just a past where I wish to spend a little more time but…..

The house is filled with thin air of ash. My body feels heavy and harder to move.

Hopefully the fire resistance III enchantment won't wear off sooner. As long as it doesn't I won't be homeless.

The room is small with a wooden wall. A narrow window with no glass.

Morning light slips in through seams, thin and bright.

Just a table , bed and a chair. Not more than that.

There's a metal card on the table which is the most expensive thing in my entire house. Well I can't even call this a home, it's just a moderate sized room.

  I picked it up.

  METAL CARD

  ADVENTURER PERMIT

  TIER: BRONZE II

Man it's really so hard to get to stage 2 it took 20 bronze stage 1 quests just to go to stage 2.

I stand up SLOWLY, My legs shake as my last quest was so hard to complete . Still I could recover after some rest but this time I didn't. Maybe something is missing inside me.

I breathe in, hoping to feel some Essence which is similar to mana IG.

BUT IT'S ALWAYS THE SAME, I FEEL NOTHING…..

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

No warmth. No flow. No strange changes.

Just how long will it take to awaken Essence . Even the small kids have Essence and do work better than me.

I guess people are born with it.

After a short bath I have worn my last orange plain long sleeve garment with my grey pants and brown boots.

  It's my usual fit.

It's time to do some quests.

I took the usual Sand roads stretch in every direction.

The Guild Hall is located at the entrance of the city.

The city is full of stone buildings rising tall and sharp, carved with glowing symbols.

People move fast, confident. Some wear armor, some robe, some cloak, others normal garments.

Many have light around them—faint glows, sparks, waves of Essence .

  I feel it everywhere.

  Except for me.

A few people glance my way. Their eyes slide off me quickly, like I’m not worth the effort. Others stare for a second longer, then smirk.

I kept going forward, as I couldn't stop them . That's how powerless I am.

  I REACHED THE GUILD HALL

Which is impossible to miss as its doors were huge like it's a castle gate.

Near the gate there's a huge stone wall sculpture.

  Adventurer’s Hierarchy.

  MYTHICAL

  LEGENDARY

  CONQUERER

  CROWN

  DIAMOND

  PLATINUM

  GOLD

  SILVER

  BRONZE

Well this is a Rank system used to define a Quest’s Difficulty and Adventurer’s Potency.

  I push the doors open.

  Noise crashes into me.

Shouting. Laughter. The sound of steel. Magic flaring like fireflies. The air feels heavy, even the weakest among will volunteer to bully me.

I walk to the quest board.

Most of the papers are already gone. Adventurers stand nearby, talking about rewards, laughing about easy clears.

What’s left on the board barely fills a corner.

  QUEST BOARD

  Bronze 1 – Sewer cleanup

  Bronze 1 – Training dummy

  Bronze 2 – Supply carry (10 crates)

  Bronze 2 – Outskirts Patrol

  Bronze 2 – Mine Cart (5 CARTS)

I took the supply carry . It's the only one which I think I can do in Bronze 2.

I have grabbed the paper and signed it,

So that I can get my reward which is just a 2 bronze coin.

Man, My weekly rent itself is 10 bronze coins for that grabbage room.

But the owner is so nice that he gave me a place even though I don't have Essence.

While I was leaving the Guild hall, my legs tripped over a stone and tumbled with a thud sound.

Seriously this green cape man has no mercy towards me, he does all these petty tricks to mock me. Well it has become a routine for him.

I closed my ears and left the Hall.

As I reached the Warehouse it was dark and cramped. Crates are stacked high, marked with runes.

I saw 4 people, including me, come to this quest.

When I tried to lift the crate, my arms screamed.

The crate isn’t large—but it feels wrong. This is heavy yet looks like a small crate.

While other adventurers grab them easily, lifting two or three at once.

But my limit is only one which is the most possible I could do.

My grip slips. My back bends, I force it up.

  Sweat drips into my eyes.

A kid younger than me walks past, carrying two crates like they’re empty.

Looking at that kid itself is a shame to me, as I was way older than him but I can't even do what he's capable of.

That kid saw my eyes and smirked and asked “No Essence?” he asked, not slowing down.

  I nod.

He scoffed and said “I guess, your destiny is written in your eyes”

Well I didn't even give a glance at him, but it's new everyone will say that fate is written in head not on eyes.

By the time I reach the warehouse , my hands are shaking. My arms feel numb. I drop the crate harder than I should.

  The merchant clicks his tongue.

  “Careful. That’s enchanted.”

  “I know,” I mutter.

  I don’t.

At the end I can only carry 7 crates and it took me 3 hours but that kid did this In an hour.

The merchant's gaze pinned me to his boots. “If a child can do this better, why can't you do the same.”

I just pinned my head down, I can't argue with him. At least I can get the food.

After his scolding I went backside of the warehouse.

The Merchant Barked down at me “Get out now and never take this quest “

I clenched my jaw, nodded once, and turned away.

  Another day without Lunch.

Man, my feet are trembling under immense pressure, I can't even step properly.

As I went to the Hall and collected a reward.

Man, I really need a rest for my legs.

So it's pretty much clear that everyone has Essence when they born except for me, As I was teleported

  As I headed home

I saw a group of three Adventurers taking Raw Ashveil, I should avoid them at any cost.

While I tried to avoid them, the one with the red cloak called me.

While I headed towards them, the one with black cloak and armed gloves punched me to the tree.

My blood splashed, he lunged at me with an intent to kill. My head is spinning like hell

Air bursts out of my lungs.
