C53

Susan plucked the wires like one would to an ingrown hair. It was slow but firm to make sure she didn’t hurt Mitra. After all the tubes were gone, Susan slowly broke the chains that bound the one she was helping. Mitra was still in a fugue state and Vegis couldn’t do anything to break her out of it. They spent 10 minutes waiting to see if she was going to wake up but nothing happened. Frustrated, Susan took a peek into Mitra’s head and noticed that she was still trying to process all the information shoved into her head. To fix it, Susan slowed down Mitra’s processing and started to scrape all the information that was backlogged. This, however, didn’t fully work so she decides to do a deep clean of Mitra’s new memory device since this new information was stored there.

Susan had to spend a lot of time first deciphering what the coding language of the machine was since it was not like anything she had seen before. She had to tap into the extra data centers she was connected to brute force the decryption. This didn’t work so Susan finally decided to tap into the parts of her that were in the Maouin system. The language there was very similar to what was in Mitra but it had some slight variations, as though Mitra’s was a primordial version of the language. With this new found clue, she was finally able to understand everything inside. It took 30 minutes to remove everything since there was 5 petabytes of random information and data. This would still have an unconscious effect on Mitra, like her randomly knowing strange tidbits of knowledge and perhaps, she will know things that she really shouldn’t.

Susan was finally done with removing everything she could. She waved goodbye to Vegis and flew back from here she came from. Mitra’s form started to break into balls of light that started to fade over time. Only after all the lights faded did Vegis get out of the space. Vegis was still standing above Mitra, the sun a little bit over the horizon and Mitra starting to sit up. Vegis let go of her back and went away to clean himself up. Over the course of the day, Vegis focused on her more than usual to see if there was any need to get her to the infirmary. She was relatively the same, but now had a stronger aversion to VR now. She seemed to have a better understanding of the net now but also a strong fear of it at the same time.

A week has passed and nothing happened. In his break time, Vegis has helped Mitra to acclimate to it and tell her some basic rules along with the dos and don’ts when using VR. The reason she got trapped and being overloaded was because she hit a bad link and the site she was going to was very unstable. This lessened her fear but she still didn’t use it much. During this time, Boreal started to speak. They had a relatively basic vocab but it was more than enough to communicate with anyone who wasn’t connected to them. Boreal participated in school through a VR room but still had problems with communication with classmates since most had a hard time reading since they were just learning how.

Now that all the repairs are done, Vegis was returned to wall duty and just served the guards. There were a lot less animal sightings but there was a lot more fertilizer for the plants in the labs apparently. Some of the guards gave him a gift to express their thanks for his help. Vegis just spent more time with the others since he hadn’t talked to them in a while. Vegis could now use the clones on level that allowed for natural talking and communication that wasn’t distracting. The problem Mitra had made him figure out how to smoothly control a clone in VR so he can now play games as he worked or did other things.

Vegis was spending time in other games that he hadn’t played in a long time as he started to do stretches and light exercises. It was a small game that came out 2 years ago. The controls were impeccable and the move set of the characters were both cool and fun. It was a hero fighter game that had each of the characters based off of old stories from earth. There were gods, demons, monsters, and heroes. Most of them came from two groups called Paragon and Shamus Comics/SC comics. The most popular character was a rich kid who made a mechanical spider suit to hunt his family's killer.

It was during a match that Vegis was losing that he noticed something. A presence that was staring into his soul. No matter how fast he turned, he could never see what was behind him and was staring. When the match ended, he swapped games to see if it would follow him and it did. He traveled to multiple places, sites, games, and even in his virtual room, it would always stare at him. There were only two places that it could not follow: the real world and The Way of MagicLSN

Vegis told Drake about this and what happened leading up to it and he said he would have a friend look into it. Another thing Vegis asked him is when are they going to tell the Elders about their existences. “They probably already know that you exist. They are probably waiting for me and Doel to tell them so they can take yall in.” was the answer Drake gave.
