Vegis turned around to see if there was anyone behind him but saw nothing. He asked the group if they could hear it but only got a no. Vegis got up and headed outside to see if it was just the building. As soon as he went outside, he got blasted with voices and noise. It felt as though a thousand people were living in his ear. In the southeast, he saw a colossal pillar of light. When he walked closer to it, the voices got louder, and the further away he got, the quieter they got but then he started to get an extreme headache. He headed to the light since he didn’t know what else to do.
As he passed by the center of the station, a man got out of one of the buildings and told Vegis that Doel wanted to meet him in his office that was in the southeast. Vegis nodded at him and continued to the light. The voices got louder and louder but after a specific point in the forest around the southeast corner, the voices unify into 1 and did nothing but repeated, “come closer”. Every step made it loud, more persuasive, and even soothing. It was like a lullaby being sung to a child or an angler fish’s light, but all he could hear was just “come closer”.
Vegis eventually arrived at the base of the light. Inside of it, he could spot a building and some people in it. When he walked in the light, he was blinded for a second before everything dimmed and walked inside. Vegis headed to the front desk and told the clerk that he had an appointment with Doel. She pointed to the door to the left to which Vegis walked passed and saw a sign that pointed to many directions. Vegis saw that Doel’s office was at the very end of the hall and headed there. What Vegis saw when he entered it, he saw Doel sitting on a chair and a locked vault right behind them.
Doel pointed at the chair and told Vegis to sit. He sat down on the only empty chair and then his camouflage dispersed, revealing his changed form to Doel. Doel started to stare at Vegis up and down several times before raising their hand and causing many chains and vines to form from the ground and chair to bind Vegis. This frightened Vegis and so he tried to break out and strained all he could but only slightly stressed the things that bind him.
Doel snapped their finger and commanded for Vegis to shut up whilst it got up from the chair it was in. It turned around and walked to the vault as it was muttering things that Vegis couldn’t understand. All Vegis knew was that Doel was speaking his mother tongue as he felt the mana in the air start to shift in ways Vegis never seen or felt before. The languages that were formed in the Maouin system had influence over mana in ways that humans still didn’t understand even after centuries of them trying to explain it. A surge of mana flooded the door after a specific phrase was said and popped the door open.
From where he was sitting, Vegis could make out a few objects like a few cubes, crystals, and art pieces. These didn’t catch his eye like the chains and vines that seemed to come far in the back of the vault but Doel blocked Vegis from seeing what they tethered. Doel did another hand movement and this caused the chains to shoot towards him and dragged the chair bound Vegis to them. As he was sent flying to Doel, Vegis got sight of what the bound thing in the back was, it was the drakkin women. The sight of her caused Vegis to feel nothing but incomprehensible dread and so he struggled to try and get himself released.
In his desperation, he started to actively use the mana flowing in him to empower him but as soon as he tried, it was sapped from his body and the bindings grew in size and strength. Doel drew a sigil in the air with their mana and shot it at Vegis, instantly clearing Vegis’s head. The irrational fear he was feeling disappeared and he felt calm. He looked up at Doel and asked, “Manager Doel, why have you brought me here? Also, why is she here?”. Doel paused for a second to think and then answered.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“I called you over so I can get a better look at you and her. You guys are highly strange, even for my people, and you both have turned into something incredibly special. You won’t get a raise until you get more experience and have to deal with some of the more strange things, but if my hypothesis is correct, you will receive some perks.” As soon as he stopped talking, he walked to a bookshelf and started to look for a specific book. It was a green book that seemed to glow with a pale yellow aura. Vegis felt entranced as soon as he laid his eyes upon it but was snapped out of it after the women shifted.
She opened her eyes and beams of light were released. She tilted her head up and the light started to fill his vision, causing Vegis to let out a yelp. Doel stared at this in confusion for he saw nothing. It continued to look through the book until it found what it wanted. On the page were drawings of 3 beings and descriptions about them.
The one on the left was a drakkin like being. The description under it was, “Sun-Kin, first children of Huitzlios and ancestor to the Drakkin.” and with small details about it from all the myths they could find about them. The one on the right was a magi like thing. The description of it was, “Forest blooded, last brood of Devsen and makers of the Magi”. The middle entity had 2 images, a dragon like beast made of plants and metals, eyes formed from jewels, teeth darker than the night sky. Standing on top of it was a bipedal entity that had the markings traits of the other 2. The wings and scales of the Sun-Kin, the skin and eyes of the Forest blooded one, and had traits of its own, a third eye on its forehead, the lines that covered the 2 had been merged together and each line was made of runes and sigils, in its chest was a jewel that seemed to contain the heavens itself.
Doel forced Vegis to stand and open his left palm before grabbing a knife and slashing across it. It barely cut the skin and had its edge ruined but all it was needed for was getting Vegis’s fresh blood. Doel then grabbed Vegis’s hand and put it on the head of the woman and was sent flying as the chains that bound her exploded and a fire started to erupt from her. While they didn’t burn objects, the flames brought extraordinary heat that caused Doel’s skin to blister and Vegis’s smeared blood to evaporate. All that was left of the blood was a small black drop that seemed to soak into her forehead and then a wave of ice encased her.
The ice traveled up Vegis’s arm but stopped at his shoulder. His bindings were obliterated by the explosion before and so Vegis tried to let go but couldn’t. Suddenly, the ice started to melt and soak into Vegis and the Sun-Kin. By the time it was fully soaked into the two of them, it turned the skin of Vegis’s arm a deep blue and tinted the markings of the Sun-Kin with a light blue. She stood up and then the connection that was made between the two grew stronger than the connection to the clones.
Knowledge of a language older than the stars appeared into his head and Vegis's knowledge of language flooded her mind. Culture and events, people and habits, both of their life stories swam through both of their minds and then stopped. Vegis started to blink after a long time trying to process what had just piled into his head. As he opened his mouth to try and talk to the woman, the name Mitra popped to the front of his mind, the name she had before she when she was less intelligent and had owners.
Vegis then started to speak. “Hello there Mitra, how are you doing?” and she reposnded with, "It had been pretty shit as you can tell".
