Chapter 5 : Ep. 2 ERIS, III

  Chapter 5 : Ep. 2 — ERIS, III

  [ Nanaimo, Midnight ]

The room was filled with warmth and silence. A canopy bed stood to the left, elevated like a stage, its carved panels mande crafted by a skillful craftsman, curtains hung in the soft folds, half-parted as if someone had just slipped through them and vanished into the pits of darkness. The only light source was coming from a candle sitting on the small round wooden table in the center. Behind it, a tall lamp light the wall in a gentle haze, illumination an oil painting of a Lady.

The windows, latticed in geometric woodwork, it brought a unique style only found in a small town in Nanaimo.

  two knocks could be heard,

  ’knock’

  ’knock’

  …

  — we just got Iriel’s report, Master.

The guy paid a small bow before lifting his head

  — Iriel captured Anny alive and she’s currently in the dungeon under the guards watch, apparently she told us Zack was with her, but since Mertha told Iriel that she can kill Zack if he got in her way.

  silence filled the air

then a slight chuckle coming from the canopy bed

  — This.. is a great opportunity to get rid of Zack.

  —Master.

the man was wearing a fitted changshan in black and white, cinched with a wide sash that held pouches and tools. Over it a sleeveless banbi hung loose, worn from travel.

His medium-length hair was neatly tied in a down ponytail,

  — Do you think Raily will be okay with it?

  — tch, Raily can’t do anything! Mertha got my back!

his hand in the air and said, “Jia Wei, do you really think a scrawny little girl can scare me? She’s nothing but a dog in our basement lab!”

Jia Wei’s face was slightly down with a mixed of discomfort and fear

Two pair of glowing red eyes emerged from the darkness, “I want you to kill Zack.”

The man had a strange cut, in fact it seems like whoever cut his hair was a person who had no ounce of experience, his hair had a strange geometric shape to it : sharp-edged and deliberated, like someone had cut each chunk with measurement. It resembled a bowl cut fractured down the middle, leaving his forehead bare. The bangs flared outward in uneven chunks, tapering from short to long as they swept sideways in his strange taste of “haircut”, it was almost like a broken hime cut. On the right, a single strand sticks out longer than the rest. This whole mess was dyed in purple, the pale colour of a Bellflower

“Mertha may differ a bit, but we have another plan in mind, don’t we Jia Wei?”, he said smacking his lips

“We already have Anny..once we kill Zack, we move. By then, Mertha can’t stop us.”

[ the next day, Nanaimo, entrance gate ]

the town welcoming foreigners and travellers was the entrance gate to the main state of Nanaimo. It was a small town, scrappy and always busy. The streets were packed with vendors selling their sickly dried fish, since Nanaimo was a east state up next to the vast ocean, it has good fish business but not compare to Mont-Fairy, it often got the the name “Mont-Fay” or just “Fay”, but it’s original name was either way, it was number one when it comes to buying their seafoods. The Nanaimonians didn’t just sell fish but also cheap trinkets and a travel gear as well as a guide map for tourists..?(who would wanna personally come visit Nanaimo? They must not be in their right mind.) Nanaimo is and will always be a terrible state, it is haunted and often ruled by Sen’s men. This was his land. He is known to terrorize children and any women he sees on his path. Behind curtains he’s nothing but a cowardly scumbag who’s just a left over trash thrown by the and now he’s sucking off of these poor people.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

As i continue to walk around inspecting the town,

the merchants shouting from all their might trying to catch the attention of anyone passing, the buildings leaning close together patched with mismatched stones and faded paint. The gloomy weather casting shadows in the shallow streets, who knows what could be happening in there. Basically this place was full of vendors trying to provide for their family then as i enter the crowded streets looking for a place to sleep.

[ i travelled all night, i need to find a tavern or somewhere i can doze off for a couple of hours before gaining back my energy ]

the sound of metal smashing, people coming and leaving, troubled angry people and beggars

i spotted a tavern and approached the man who was in a conversation with another client,

  — hey did you hear..?

  — Rumours from Dauphin came. Remember the princess who ran away?

  — Yea? Did she die?

i couldn’t help but listen to what they were saying

  — No dumbass! The queen herself came to this side of The Wall! It’s like they’re both asking to die. HAHA!

  — N-No way!

  — ah.. i wish i could make this up but.. honestly what’s their problem, they got that big ass castle, maids and servants on their feet, warm bed and foods available at any time, yet they left that luxury?!

  — Crazy people.. i’m telling you, Victorians are nothing but brainless pigs..if i was the princess, i’ll be sleeping peacefully in my little guarded room with my little guarded castle and my little guarded Kingdom that’s on the well guarded side of the wall.

  — Excuse me, can i rent a room?

  i stepped in,

  — You staying next day? The room you renting for how long?

  …

i booked a room and head straight inside

  A strange feeling accompanied me

however i was too tired to care

i knew what will happen next.

[ i need to rest, i used all my energy speed running to Nanaimo ]

i slipped right into my mattress

  I was following a man

  A young man

He was easy to spot on in the busy crowed street of the Entrance Gate

his coloured hair made it easy for me

It was between a dark blue and a dark purple, navy almost, or was it black with a glow of blue?

  That was never certain,

Medium-length hair, tied with a loose red bow that caught the light every time he turned his head.

  That bow..

  it was like a signature

If you saw it, you knew it was him.

It swayed when he walked, trailing just above the skinny bag that he obviously had placed his sword inside. One strapped, worn crosswise, so casually

His clothes resembled of a homeless, a beggar

  A low status

  Oversized t-shirt, so awfully shaped

Sleeves hanging past his elbows, with a black shirt underneath that clung tightly revealing his figure

Despite his age, he had the body frame of a teenager

Anyone who didn’t know him assumes he’s just a weak bastard

  “Zack.”

i followed him to the tavern,

  — I would like to rent a room for the night.

  — of course, here’s your number

I head straight to the dormitory

  I climbed the stairs quietly

  Room 503

  I gently open the door

I see him sleeping so peacefully,

I stood there until i was sure he was asleep, i tried checking closely

  …

I pulled out my sword, i casted a low amount of my skill

  Flames lighting around the blade

  He was still knocked off

I raised it high and strike right into his heart

I placed my right leg up his shoulder refraining him from using his hands

  Blood gushing out

  Eyes widened

  Blood coming from his mouth

As i see him struggle underneath me

I twist my sword as i apply pressure to keep him under me

  — Don’t struggle, Zack.

  — Accept your ‘fate’

That’s the look i wanna see on him

  So pitiful and pathetic

An arrogant man like him making such expression

i wiped out blood clean from my clothes and walked out of the door,

  Hands behind my back

I spotted a pot placed on the edge of a table

  [ beep ]

  [ beep ]

  [ beep ]

  [ beep ]

I lifted the curtains and got out

  [ beep ]

  stepping down the small steps

The man in the front looked at me

  [ beep ]

the city was full of people

  [ beep ]

  My job was done

  [ KA-BOOOM— ]

The building and everything around me exploded
