Level Three of Tutorial [Land of the Golden Leaves].

  I dodged to the side as the snarling [Grey Wolfen] a semi-bipedal wolf like creature tried to bite into my leg. Freeing my knife I stabbed wildly into the area that the creature was and it gave a straggled yelp. I didn't look behind me and I bolted as fast as I could. Me and my family back on Nete weren't rich or influential enough for me to go dungeon diving on any of the artificial dungeons on Nete let alone going astar to one of the natural worlds. So now here I was begging and scraping on the lowest rank for tutorials.

  Their was a bright side to this, Mrs. Gonzalez who due to not being a direct combatant had opted for a lower ranked tutorial. Her being human had originally made me wary but her lack of the worst traits that some humans were known for eased me. She was a healer and had spent a great deal of time and effort healing me and the other poor sods who were trying to climb the ranks here. The better you did in the tutorial the easier life was if you survived.

  She was an interesting human to say the least she had the mysterious ability to talk to a Daemon who had apparently partially ascended during a week of post-intergration stabilizing. None of believed her until a few weeks ago when she gained the ability to use a small measure of holy energy from the Daemon. What was more intriguing was the fact that she didn't outright worship, moreso of a feeling of gratitude then idolatry.

  Right now I was carrying a bag of magical treasures from the inner forest for her. I even found a single half-step rank one, though it had been protected by the monster that I had hopefully lost in the wheat field that dominated this layer of the tutorial. The first layer had a few hardy gardens of the stuff but most of the land of rocky and lifeless. Then the second layer had a field or two and few areas in the process of being farmed. The lower ranked tutorials where shared with others and the bosses typically required several parties to fell properly.

  Seeing the clocktower of the nearby town appear in the distance I hurried. The tutorial factions had the various Sapient species on one and the beasts split into their own small elite factions. As I neared the town I thought I heard scuffles and screams but they were so faint I felt like I might just be hearing things. That was until the sounds were persistent and continued to increase in sound and volume. I burst into the clearing and I saw the guards holding the entrance into town the gate having been broken down. Prowling around them were the [Jackali] massive twisted versions of jackals.

  "Challenger! You're the one with the herbs, Healer Gonzalez needs you! We'll" hold them off get in side NOW!" At 'NOW' the guards pushed forward and bolted into action we [Wood Elves] are known for many things, chiefly among them is our fleet of foot. As I ran as fast as I could the Jackali closed in and then I heard a snarl of a [Wolfen] and then the guards surrounded me as I ran into the town clutching my satchel full of natural treasures.

  I made it to the house that the locals had given to Mrs. Gonzalez. When I saw the various stretchers and patients, I had a moment of realization. Quickly recovering myself I yelled as I neared.

  "MRS. GONZALEZ" I called out and the small human woman appeared from seemingly nowhere and lifted my satchel from me.

  "Yes... Yes this will have work, good, now you!" She mummered the first part as she rifled through the satchels contents before whirling around to me.

  "I need you to help me with these patients go wash your hands I have made some soap, it looks like a white bar" The woman stated snapping her fingers as she began checking the bandages of a nearby patient.

  "I known what soap is..." I murmured though I'm pretty sure she explained it out of habit due to the cluelessness of the tutorial locals. Going to nearby hand water pump I pushed down on it a gush of clear liquid came out and I took the small bar of soap that was resting on a cloth napkin and washed my hands. After I returned Mrs. Gonzalez put me to work, boiling water, checking and reapplying bandages and reporting any signs of worsening symptoms.

  Then I heard something change one of the guards that was ferried in that was in critical condition. Then the sounds of battle where becoming closer and closer. Even Mrs. Gonzalez got more and more uncomfortable the closer it seems to come, until finally we actually the saw the remaining guards and challengers. Most had already fallen or where here in the infirmary.

  "Ryan, I have a way out of this, unfortunately it is not something I am able to do" She told her brown eyes locking on me, I saw the stress and uncertainty but also the duty she felt to her patients. I overheard from the few people that were also from were she was that her husband had died during the week where their planet was being acclimated to Mana and the system. She continued after a pause.

  "The Daemon that is from my home world is willing to help us by bestowing a paladin class that can empower you enough to kill them, however it carries risks in using that Kien doesn't feel comfortable in me taking" Mrs. Gonzalez explained. I was confused, becoming a paladin was once in a life time thing. Even for a low rank Daemon it was an honor! The danger was because of channeling to much of your patron deities power which shouldn't be a problem for a minor Daemon.

  "I'm confused why wouldn't I accept such an offer, sure they're are risks but do understand how valuable a divine related class is?"

  "Because their is more to your life then a pursuit to power, but if you have no reservations then I can act as a relay for Kien to give you the paladin class." Mrs. Gonzalez explained to me and I nodded regularly. This was massive, paladin classes were great ways for otherwise unremarkable mortals such as myself to gain recognition. Sure I couldn't be of a higher rank then his mortal incarnation but I hardly doubt that would hold me back.

  Mrs. Gonzalez put her hand on my shoulder and a warm feeling hit me and I closed my eyes out and felt a pressure from the system asking for permission which I permitted and I felt the power of the class flow into me but also flashes of memories and records.

  I saw a warrior clad in steel armor with an eerie near sliver color a bear belt draped over him and a round circular shield and a long sword in his hand. Around the warrior were various corpses of monsters I had learned about goblins, orcs, and Yeti. Also those I hadn't, long six legged insectoids and an assortment of small furry mammals.

  "Hello, I am Kien Noble, Mrs. Gonzalez has assured me you are a good man, or well elf, and as such you will become my paladin in order to protect Mrs. Gonzalez and the others with her, my mission has become to fight off the invaders that have come for my world, however as you where not born on Earth I can expect you to fight for it, rather Inexchange you will kill the monsters both Sapient and not that wish to harm the weak, that is your mission, save those unable to save themselves" The Warrior said to me, my voice was frozen I knew instinctively I couldn't answer. The Warrior swept his weapon and it pointed to a glowing metropolis in now what I could recognize as underground cave. Then the Warrior split into three versions, one was still the warrior but his cloak was a sea of stars and fire. Another was in a mix of bones and armor with a headpiece made out some sort of deer with horns. The other was a human figure cloaked in darkness but the shining of light in his heart.

  "I am Noble, Daemon of Protection and the Depths, the one with the deer helmet stated and I felt it the danger but also the embrace of the deep earth.

  "I am Lux, the Eldritch Entity of [Void Light] Captain of the Night's Ferryman" the Dark figure stated.

  "He is Kien, Cosmic Creature of Palingenesis, he is busy right now but we are all the same and you draw power from each of us although mostly from Noble" Lux explained to me.

  "Alright go and fight my Paladin I shall talk to you if You need to known more." Noble stated.

  I opened my eyes and a system prompt appeared before me.
