Chapter 6: Love does not delight in Evil, but rejoices in truth.

  “Hey Cynthia, can I chat with you?” asked George. Taken off-guard by his politeness, Cynthia replied, “Sure George, how can I help?”, “I’m really struggling to find the pattern in this data – it just seems like nothing is speaking to me. I know you are really excellent at seeing these things so I thought you might be willing to help?”. There was a vulnerability in George’s request that Cynthia was not used to – he seemed authentic and genuinely looking for help. She felt this could be a good thing, “Sure, do you have the data with you or do you need to send it through? I’m happy to work through it with you if you’d like?”, “Actually, that would be really great. I would be able to learn from you and see how you interpret the data – would that be okay?” asked George. “That’s completely fine” said Cynthia, “send me the data and then tomorrow you and I can sit together and go through it”.

  George left the office feeling grateful, he was really stuck and had been working on this data set for at least three weeks without any progress. He went back to his desk feeling relieved that there may be light at the end of the tunnel. His manager was breathing down his neck and he needed something to show for the three weeks of work. He sent the data to Cynthia who promptly replied with “Thanks, give me today so I can go through it and we can sit tomorrow at 10:00 to figure it out together”.

  Cynthia felt a sense of restrained optimism. Was this the breakthrough and genuine teamwork she had been hoping for? She opened the file but it seemed to be corrupted. The data seemed to be weird figures that she didn’t recognise. “Here’s my shot” Ahab thought, an immediate suspicion came over Cynthia. She thought “Has he done this on purpose? But surely not? Surely he could not have sent me a virus from his work computer because then his own computer would be corrupted?”. Cynthia decided to call George and clarify instead, “Hey George, I’ve opened the file you sent but it seems to not be working correctly? Could you bring your laptop so we can take a look and compare the documents?” "Sure Cynthia, I’m not sure what you mean – the file seems fine on my side. I’ll come now” said George, and killed the call.

  Jude could see that George picked up his work laptop and came to Cynthia’s desk. He expected Cynthia to call him in to back her up, but to his surprise everything looked fine between the two of them. Jude prayed in his mind “Thank you Father, it seems like things are working out...”

  I don’t know what’s going on?

  “I cursed the data file like you said” reported the non-Kingdom spirit, Jezebel replied “Leave me to do what I need to.” George was shocked when he saw how the file appeared on Cynthia’s computer. Cynthia could see this was a genuine shock that he was not faking. He seemed completely taken off guard, “Cynthia, I am so sorry. I don’t know why it looks like that or what is happening. Here is the file I sent you…” he motioned the laptop in front of Cynthia and opened his emails so she could see. He then opened the email and clicked on the attached file and it opened and looked normal.

  Jude could see them both looking back and forth between Cynthia’s screen and George’s laptop and talking between each other. He noticed that George saw him looking so he quickly looked away and continued focusing on his work.

  “Do you think Jude did something?” George asked. Cynthia was shocked by the question, “How?”, “I don’t know? Doesn't he have an IT background? Didn’t you say he worked previously in security?” replied George. “Where is this coming from George?” Cynthia replied with concern. “I just saw him watching us now – it made me think that maybe he somehow tampered with it?” replied George. “I really don’t think so... I mean sure he worked in risk and has experience in cybersecurity but from what I understand it was more on what macro factors affect the cybersecurity of companies? There was nothing in his paperwork that suggested that he had technical skills in coding or hacking?” defended Cynthia.

  “There we go…” said Jezebel smugly before shouting, “AHAB!!”. Ahab came into the room, “I’m here”, “I’ve sowed the seed of doubt. I need you to make sure that yours believes it.” Jezebel instructed. “Okay, what was the seed?” Ahab asked, “Pay attention to what’s going on. Look into her mind and find it for yourself!" she snapped, "Must I spoon feed everything to you?”. Jezebel’s rebuke caused Ahab to back down. She left the room expecting that Ahab would do the work she had instructed of him.

  “Maybe it was a weird email, try send it to me again?” said Cynthia, “Okay…”. SWOOSH. They heard the sound of the email tone that he had been sent. PING. “Okay, lets check” said Cynthia, “Still the same” replied George. “I don’t know George, if I cant access the file I will not be able to review before tomorrow. Do you have anything on for the rest of the day?” asked Cynthia. “Nothing” replied George. “Do you want to work on it now then? I can shift my work to tomorrow and then we can spend the afternoon going through the data? It might take a bit longer because I will not have been able to go through it first – is that okay?” asked Cynthia. “That would be amazing, thank you so much. Okay, let me get my notepad and pen quickly.” said George.

  Cynthia noticed as Jude watched George leave the office and run to his desk, “Surely he doesn’t have the skills to hack our emails? And why would he?” Ahab whispered, “Remember how he asked about the promotion… isn’t it weird?”. While Cynthia was waiting she continued thinking, “but why was Jude so interested in George’s background all of a sudden at lunch the other day?”

  As George walked in with his notepad, Cynthia asked him to close the office door. Her door was never closed. George came and sat down next to her. “George, I need to confess something to you.” said Cynthia, “Okay” replied George. “The other day Jude and I were having lunch together and during the lunch he asked me about what happened during the promotion and if you were also up for the promotion. He said that he was just curious and wanted to understand. I took it as an innocent question and so I shared a lot about what happened and also about you and the things you’ve shared with me about your past. I’m sorry for gossiping about you with Jude, I didn’t realise he was snooping and that he would use that against you or to try and sabotage our relationship. He always seems so kind and like he was trying to be helpful”. “Don’t worry about it, I forgive you. I think that we need to be careful around Jude. It seems like he can’t be trusted” said George.

  Conflict Spirit.

  Cynthia and George began working on the data together. From what Jude could see, everything was going well and he was happy that they seemed to be working well together. Ahab and Jezebel were pleased that the doubt seed had been planted.

  “You” shouted Jezebel, pointing at a spirit who was cowering in the corner, “What do you do?” she demanded. “I, I”, “You WHAT?” she interrupted, “Do you cause conflict, disease or are you a familiar?” she barked. “Conflict” replied the spirit as it came closer towards Jezebel. “Excellent. Do you see these two”, she reached out, grabbing the spirits head and shoved it's face down towards the scene of George and Cynthia, “I need to make sure they do not reconcile with that one sitting over there” she pointed at Jude. “Go” she commanded.

  “Okay Jude, here it comes” said God, “remember my word to you in Ephesians 6:12-17… The struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Remember to put on my full armour so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything to stand, stand firm. Put on the belt of truth that is buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Take up the shield of faith that can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. These are my armour that protect and equip you in the day of battle.” God watched as the conflict spirit made its way into the room with George and Cynthia... “This one will attach and escalate but don’t worry, I’ve got you…” said God.

  The sword has been swung… and the light exposed what was hiding in plain sight.
