She shrugged “Apart from sealing his aether body away? No, no sure way at least. Any method I have is purely theoretical, without a more widespread rate of infection. Very little testing can be done on the disease.”

“I will contact sage Abigail, right away” Monk Chen hopped down from the branch he had been standing upon, landing softly on the ground. With a flicker of his hand a long tree branch appeared in his hand which he used to draw a symbol on the ground. It was a circle with lines going from one end of the circle to another seemingly at random, as he drew he inserted his aether into it causing the symbol to shine a vibrant leaf green different from the strange green of the fire surrounding Gabriel.

“Is there nothing that can be done? He is in pain.”

The young girl shrugged in response

“I have drawn her seal, she is aware.” Elder monk Chen said hopping back up to join them.

“She might not make it in time, he is losing.” Elder monk Eun-jeong commented.

“can you do something?” Elder monk Chen asked back.

“all I have are theoretical, they can as easily help the madness as they can help him.”

He did not reply instead he turned to Zhao Bing and waited, they both caught onto his meaning and Zhao Bing stared back at him, a frown on his face while his partner suddenly had a vested interest in everything but the two of them. The staring did not last long before Zhao Bing looked away and cursed.

“help the boy” his mouth told Eun-jeong but his eyes watched Zhao Bing stare intently at his nephew.

“I would need to get closer to him.”

Zhao Bing didn't show any visible reaction to the words but the Ice fence expanded outward leaving just enough space for the elder monk to drop in with Gabriel and that was exactly what she did, her floating branch made so it was less of a drop and more of a glide down until she was sitting right in front of Gabriel's head. It seemed Gabriel still screamed but his voiced had sored it into a silent one.

She placed her hand on Gabriel’s head. The general theory was this: the major symptoms appear only after the victim has progressed far enough along his path to have awakened an aether body, then it stood to reason that the disease should be more closely tied to the victims aether body than his physical one. That then brought to mind the question of, if a person wanted to slow down the rate of progression of the disease, how do they go about it? If the disease progresses with the awakening and growth of the aether body, then slowing down that growth should slow down the progress of the disease or conversely increasing the strength and overall functional capacity of the physical body relative to the ather body should help slow the progression of the disease. But, herein lies the problem: the hypothesis exists on the assumption that the disease is in truth linked to the progression of the aether body. As sound as that may appear on paper, it may still be incorrect and the consequences of such an error are difficult to predict.
