Let the First Trial begin

The rustling of towering trees and the soft descent of falling leaves filled the air.

Once again, Master Fung Shu-Ri’s voice thundered across the grounds. "The task is simple: each of you must enter the 'Cave of Sealed Souls.' Hidden within, your Spirit Beast awaits you. You must be the first to awaken your spiritual beast and establish a soul-bond with it. Only then will you advance to the next stage of the trial."

The crowd drew a collective breath. The atmosphere was a volatile mix of exhilaration and anxiety, with every eye fixed upon the two princes. Duie, a cheerful youth with messy hair and a perpetually mischievous grin, clapped a hand on Yu Sui’s shoulder. In a mock-serious tone, he whispered, "Yu, my brother, win this! And when you become King, make me a Clan Lord or something! I’m not picky!"

Yu Sui narrowed his eyes at him, though a playful smirk tugged at his lips. "Only if you stop stealing from the sect’s kitchens."

Duie’s grin froze. He made a face at Yu Sui before catching the gaze of Mo Yan, who was glaring at him like a predatory lion. Duie quickly and quietly retreated.

On the other side, Lan Xiyu, dressed in serene silver robes, moved to stand beside Mo Yan. He gripped Mo Yan’s shoulder firmly, his voice ringing with pride. "Brother Mo Yan, you are not just our pride. You are our future. You are the one who will win this."

Mo Yan nodded silently, his focus unwavering. His eyes held a sharp, rigid discipline. Suddenly, Master Fung Shu-Ri’s command roared through the air. "Forward!" Mo Yan and Yu Sui set off together along the wide, winding trail. Behind them, the massive crowd followed in a rhythmic march.

  The Cave of Sealed Souls

After a time, they reached a jagged, rocky cliff that offered a breathtaking view of the vast landscape. Lush, green peaks stretched as far as the eye could see. And there, standing before them, was the Cave of Sealed Souls.

The cave’s entrance was a dark, wide maw that looked terrifying, as if it hadn't been touched in centuries. Mist curled around its opening like silent, sleeping serpents. Now, only one rule remained.

"No one shall follow them inside," Master Fung announced, laying out the final instruction.

"Only Yu Sui and Mo Yan may enter."

The crowd held its breath as the two rivals stepped forward, shoulder to shoulder. For a fleeting moment, they paused at the threshold of the darkness. Before stepping in, they locked eyes a silent, heavy exchange.

Breaking the silence, Mo Yan looked straight ahead and spoke with a trace of arrogance. "Try not to get lost in the dark."

Yu Sui’s eyes widened as he glared at him, his voice snapping back.

"Worry about yourself, 'Dry Leaf,' I know exactly where I am."

At this retort, Mo Yan turned his head to stare directly into Yu Sui’s eyes. Yu Sui quickly averted his gaze, looking straight into the abyss before marching forward.

And with that, they stepped into the shadows. The cave swallowed them whole. Outside, the forest fell into a haunting silence once more.
