Chapter 136: Noooo, Monkey King

The battlefield boiled with death and smoke.

Every breath was thick with the stench of acid, blood, and burning flesh. And amid the chaos, Releyanda screamed.

  "AAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

A jet of sizzling green acid splashed across her face, melting flesh, searing muscle, peeling skin from bone. She dropped to the ground, rolling in agony, clawing at her face as steam poured from the wound. Her screams were raw, primal, unending.

"HAHAHAHAHA!" Edgar bellowed, his bloated form shaking with laughter. "Human girl think Edgar dead! Human girl lose face! HAHAHAYEEEE OOOOOOOH WEEEEEEE!"

"RELEYANDA!" Hidikai screamed, rage surging through her veins. Abi crackled around her remaining cyber arm, sparks flaring like lightning.

  "GET AWAY FROM HER!"

She fired a concentrated electro beam straight into Edgar's face.

The blast struck with a thunderous CRACK, electricity ripping through his head and boiling the acid within him. Edgar roared in pain, flailing wildly as steam burst from his ruptured skin.

  "AAARRRGHHHH! Edgar... ANGRY!"

He swung toward her, his eyes burning with fury. His massive hands clamped down on Hidikai's arm, and the acid began to eat through the metal.

"NO... NO, NO, NO!" Hidikai screamed, terror flooding her face as smoke hissed from her cybernetics. The acid crept closer, threatening to reach flesh.

"EDGAR MAKE YOU PAY FOR BLASTING FACE!" he bellowed, crushing harder.

Just as the acid neared her skin, BOOM!

A massive tree log slammed into Edgar's face with devastating force, splitting his body nearly in half. He screamed as his form exploded in a spray of acid and bacteria, crashing to the ground in a boiling heap.

Hidikai stared, wide-eyed and trembling. Slowly, she turned.

Grinex stood there, chest heaving, eyes full of fury. "No one touches my people," he growled, axe raised and ready. "Not while I breathe."

At the center of the battlefield, Maegan standing beside Braxer conversion, laughed darkly as he unleashed a new wave of false imagination. Circuits of light swirled around him, taking shape in the air.

"Let's see how you handle this!"

A massive tank, its body glitching with digital static, materialized beside him. Its cannon swiveled and locked onto the Monkey King.

  "FIRE!"

The missile roared across the field. The Monkey King slammed his power pole into the earth, raising a towering wall of stone, but the projectile tore straight through it, detonating with apocalyptic force.

  The wall emerged.

  The blast consumed him completely.

"MONKEY KING!" Nyte Fang screamed, but it was too late. Smoke billowed where he once stood. His body lay still among the rubble, lifeless, his pole shattered beside him.

A silence fell, then Grax roared in rage, charging Maegan with a fury that shook the ground. The Death of the Fang

  Maegan smirked. "More toys, then."

With a snap of his hand, he conjured another false creation, a digitized chain ball that Braxer was infamous for using. It spun wildly as it clashed with Grax's axe, sparks flying in every direction. Nyte Fang joined the fray, slashing and striking, her movements a blur.

They struck Converter Braxer again and again, and he struck back, Axe, code-beasts, blades of data that cut like real steel. The battle was brutal and desperate, all three landing savage blows, the earth trembling beneath their feet.

Grax slmamed his ax in the shooulder of converter Braxer and it's body sparked violently.

In a fit of rage Nyte Fang turnt her attention to Maegan. She blitz towards him.

This coyote is very fast... just like the coyotes on the Surface. Fun fact, a wild coyote can sprint up to forty miles per hour when it needs to. Speed is their birthright and with Abi you can mulitply that by 1000. She moved well beyond the speed of sound.

"Too slow!" Nyte Fang shouted, slicing across his chest.

"Too angry," Maegan replied, summoning a wave of glitching smoke that burst from his core, engulfing the field.

"Damn it!" Grax shouted, slashing wildly. "I can't see!"

"Neither can I!" Nyte Fang coughed, stumbling through the darkness. She felt something solid brush against her shoulder and turned.

"Grax, we have to get rid of this mist!" she shouted.

  But Grax didn't answer.

And when she turned fully, her blood ran cold.

  It wasn't Grax.

The figure before her was a digitized illusion of him, jagged and flickering, but strong. It reached out and clamped its massive hands around her throat.

  "What—" she gasped, struggling.

The false Grax snapped her neck with a sickening crack.

Her body crumpled to the ground.

  The Roar of Rage

The smoke dispersed with a sudden WHOOOSH as a storm of wind exploded from Grax's body. His roar shook the battlefield and tore through the clouds.

  "NYTE FAAAAANG!"

  And then he saw her.

Her body lay limp in the dust, her lifeless eyes staring toward the sky. The fierce warrior who had fought beside him for years, gone. Snuffed out like a candle.

Grax dropped to his knees and gathered her into his arms, his breath ragged, his heart shattering with every passing second. "No... no, no, no..." he whispered, pressing his forehead against hers. "Don't leave me... not you too..."

Around them, the battle still raged, but for Grax, the world had stopped.

  Two leaders had fallen.

And the sky over the Animal Tribes burned red with death.
