Chapter Fourteen: The Curious Case of Braxills Secret

The Bear Tribe's three-day Berry Festival was in full swing a joyous explosion of color, sound, and the sweet scent of fruit and honey.

A massive feast unfolded in the central clearing. Honey cakes were piled high, and the air vibrated with roars of joy and laughter. Berries, walnuts, and dried fruits were everywhere, a testament to the tribe's bounty. The bears were all enjoying themselves immensely. Grutix, in particular, was reveling, perched atop a gigantic, shimmering serpent whose scales glistened under the sky-light.

Gravixor, her fur dusted with flour, bustled about, handing out freshly baked blueberry pies to both bear civilians and soldiers, her usual stoicism softened by the festive air.

"Hey, Grutix! Stop using the boy's power for your own selfish gain!" Grinex roared good-naturedly from across the clearing, his voice booming over the revelry.

Grutix, her mouth full of honey cake, merely grinned, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "I swear it wasn't me! This thing's been slithering around all on its own! It's gone up and down every tree, getting us lots and lots of honey!" The serpent playfully nuzzled her.

Grinex responded with a theatrical growl but couldn't hide his chuckle.

Meanwhile, Grax walked alongside Mama Bear Grixie. The two chieftains smiled together, observing their happy tribe. "Everything seems to be peaceful," Grixie commented, her voice calm and wise, "especially after you all destroyed that massive El."

Grax nodded, his gaze softening. "You can thank Braxill for that. His Art saved us."

"Where is he?" Grixie asked, scanning the crowd.

Just then, Braxill appeared at Gravixor's pie stand, his eyes darting around. He quickly took several pies from her, shoving them into a duffle bag.

"Hey, little cub!" Gravixor called out, bewildered. "That's a lot of pies you got there!"

Braxill, awkward and flustered, mumbled something incoherent, shoved the last pie in, and bolted, running off with surprising speed. Gravixor watched him disappear into the crowd, confusion clouding her features.

  The Library Walls

As the sun began to set, Gravixor and a group of bears worked diligently to reinforce the glowing barriers around the village, ensuring no Els could sneak in overnight. Despite the continued festivities, she couldn't shake a growing concern about Braxill. His strange behavior was unsettling.

Driven by that worry, Gravixor traveled to the Library of Wonders. The air inside was cool and quiet, a stark contrast to the festival's chaos. As she approached the central area, she stopped cold. A shimmering, majestic wall of green energy stood tall, encircling a section of the library.

She cautiously approached, only to be stopped by a small, impeccably dressed frog guard who materialized in front of the wall. He stood at attention, his tiny chest puffed out, his voice rich with a British accent. "Sir Braxill is currently unavailable."

Gravixor in her bear form gave him a withering glare, a "mean look" that would make even the bravest bears shrink. "Braxill!" she bellowed, her voice slicing through the stillness. "What is this?!"

  The energy wall instantly faded.

There stood Braxill, looking panicked and awkward, like a child caught with his paw in the honey jar. "Nothing!" he blurted, wiping his brow.

"That's enough studies for today!" Then he dashed past her, sprinting out of the library.

  The Pie Burglar

The next day, the Berry Festival rolled on, as vibrant as ever. Braxill reappeared at the pie stand where Gravixor was still working. Without a word, he began stuffing more pies into his duffle bag.

Gravixor watched him with suspicion, one eyebrow raised. Braxill avoided her gaze and ran off again, his bag heavy with pastry.

Later that day, Gravixor returned to the Library of Wonders. The green wall was up again. Braxill's eyes, glowing with soft green light, scanned pages of unknown material. His brow was furrowed in focus. Outside, the frog guard stood firm.

Gravixor stood across from him, their eyes locked in a comical stare-down. "Sir Braxill is currently—" the frog began.

Gravixor transformed into a full bear "Save it, frog brains. I know the drill."

  The wall faded.

"Braxill! What are you doing behind that wall?" she demanded, arms crossed, expression exasperated.

"Nothing! Well not nothing... It's something, but I can't say!" he stammered, cheeks flushing. Then, like clockwork, he bolted.

  The Truth Revealed

The next day, it happened again. More pies. More dodging. And then... something new.

In the Library of Wonders, Braxill sat behind the green wall. His eyes slowly closed, dark bags hanging beneath them. He was exhausted.

The frog guard leaned toward a nearby glowing ladybug and whispered. The ladybug zipped into the barrier and landed beside Braxill.

"Braxill, you're about to lose power!" it chirped. Then it gasped. "Oh no!"

Braxill was out cold, surrounded by books.

The ladybug zipped back. "He's drained! He's been thinking constantly, using imagination nonstop, and now he's completely passed out!"

The frog's eyes widened "This isn't good, any minute now we will-"

The frog and the Lady bug dissapeared.

Outside, Gravixor arrived just as the wall faded.

"Braxill!" she gasped, running forward. Her eyes scanned the books around him... and her breath caught.

They were about love. About kissing girls. About holding hands. Even a discreetly covered book about S-E-X.

Her entire face ignited. "Graaaaaaaaaax!" she screamed, her voice echoing through the library.

  A Talk with Mama Bear

Inside Grax's chambers, the elders gathered.

"What did you say?" Grinex stammered. "He's been reading what?"

Gravixor paced, flustered. "Yeah! And sneaking pies too. Now I know why!"

Grutix laughed. "Our little cub's a pervert!"

"Shut it, Grutix!" Gravixor snapped, cheeks flushed. "He's just curious! He's a human, remember?"

Grinex raised his paws. "This is way above my fur. Grax, it's all yours!"

Mama Bear Grixie stepped forward. "Everyone out. Gravixor, stay."

She looked at Grax. "This one's on you."

  "Wait, me?"

"He trusts you most, aside from Gravixor," Grixie said, then stepped out, smirking.

Grax sighed. "Do you know how old Braxill is?"

  Gravixor blinked. "I don't."

"He's twelve," Grax said softly. "And humans are like us, curious, wild. This was bound to happen."

"What do we do?" she asked, blushing again.

"I'll talk to him," Grax said. "But he's hiding this because he's scared."

  "Why would he be scared?"

  Grax raised an eyebrow.

Gravixor's eyes widened. "Wait... you don't mean—"

"You're the only female around him," Grax said gently. "The one he trusts. His caregiver."

Gravixor's face turned beet red. "He's just a child!"

"And so are you," Grax said. "You're barely fourteen in bear years. He's twelve."

  Gravixor gaped. "Oh my goodness..."

"Just keep being there for him. And no kissing in the library."

  Gravixor gasped. "Grax!"

  The Unspoken Truth

Later, back in the library, the green wall shimmered. Gravixor sat calmly outside, cheeks still red.

  The wall dissolved.

"Hey," she said casually. "Did you... see what you needed to see?"

  Braxill nodded. "Yep!"

"That's good," she murmured, eyes downcast.

  "I should go," Braxill said.

"Hey, umm..." She hesitated. "If you ever want to talk about... anything, just know I'm here. No need to be scared."

Braxill looked at her and simply nodded. "Okay."

Then he ran off, leaving Gravixor alone in the quiet library, heart thumping, face still burning.
