A few years pass quietly by as I go about hunting Corruptors one after another. All while I hear news about the wars in the Dimensional Blocks progressing.
It’s to the point that there are only a few major powers within the Dimensional Blocks at this point.
The archfiend, Artorius’ nation. Lucas’ nation. The Retreat. The Ancestral Dragon’s territory. And the smaller territories belonging to several of the lower ranking users on the leaderboards.
Like the lich king for one.
As for the nation that ended up claiming that Tier 5 dungeon?
That would be the archfiend. Which isn’t too surprising since he has the largest expanse of territory thanks to his warmongering.
Even if he himself isn’t as strong as Lucas.
Also, I’ve heard the archfiend himself has been training for years in that Tier 5 dungeon. All to reach the end of Tier 5.
And I actually made sure to tell the people I know not to kill him while he’s doing that.
Just so that I can have my target for clearing that requirement.
After all, the archfiend is a scumbag. So he makes for the perfect target for that requirement.
But I can’t do anything until after he reaches the cap of Tier 5. And also-
My thoughts are cut off when I finish off the Corruptor in front of me again. Making a System Message play out in my head and vision. Along with a System Notification.
[A Corruptor has been slain. Requirement to slay twenty-five Corruptors has been updated.]
Interesting.
Another rise to my Authority Level.
Although I’m not really sure how helpful this will be. Since my Authority Level doesn’t really seem to matter much anymore.
Not at the level I’m at.
Anyway, I just have one more Corruptor left to defeat. Then that requirement will be over with.
I’ve also spent quite a bit of time training my energy manipulation over these years.
It’s too bad I haven’t made as much progress as I’d prefer though.
I’ve only brought it to level thirty seven. So I’m still at least a few levels away from reaching Tier 5.
And I’ve got Quantum Displacement to level forty five. Which is even further away from my goal than Energy Manipulation.
“You only have one more, right? Please get it over with quickly so I can go back to my game undisturbed,” the Quantum Cleaner’s voice echoes through the galaxy as he appears with a rather disgruntled look on his face.
He’s been showing up over and over again for years now every time I clear a galaxy. So I’ve gotten used to seeing him.
And I’m not the only one as he’s gotten used to my constant interruptions to his games.
Enough that he’s stopped expressing his anger at me and has pretty much deflated. Kind of like a balloon that’s lost its air.
Anyway, I ignore him as I begin teleporting through the corrupted universe in search of another Corruptor. Working on leveling up Quantum Displacement as I do so.
The Quantum Realm
The Quantum Ruler taps his finger on his throne as he watches his granddaughter going around the corrupted universe cleaning up the corruption in one place after another. But despite how long she’s been going at it, she hasn’t actually managed to clear up a lot of the universe.
Specifically because a large majority of the areas she cleans up of corruption quickly end up being corrupted again soon after.
It’s a problem the Quantum Vanguard and Quantum Cleaner have been facing for a long time now.
There’s no way to fully clean the universe of corruption when the Corrupted One still lives.
Because his mere existence spreads corruption across the universe.
The Ruler narrows his eyes when he finds the Quantum Reaper running into another Corruptor. At which point she begins the battle against it, proving just how used to fighting the Corruptors she has become as she defeats it with far less difficulty than she had when fighting the first few Corruptors.
He continues watching until she finally defeats the Corruptor. At which point she immediately begins heading back towards the Dimensional Blocks created by the System. All while leaving the Quantum Cleaner dancing around in celebration as he cleans up the galaxy.
No doubt excited that she’s finally done bothering him.
The Quantum Ruler turns his attention away from the Quantum Cleaner when a powerful wave of corruption appears in the Quantum Realm. Where he sees the Corrupted One appearing out of nowhere.
“You seem happy,” the Ruler states to his corrupted brother.
And the corrupted brother in question nods his head in agreement without saying a word.
After a few seconds, the Quantum Ruler’s expression tightens and he asks, “Give her time and she will be ready to give you what you wish.”
Silence fills the area with the only sound being the glitching sparks all around the Corrupted One before he nods his head once and vanishes.
The Quantum Ruler lets out a sigh before turning his attention back towards Lexi again. Feeling that strange sense of uncomfortable happiness that he often feels when seeing his brother. Along with a mix of sadness and disappointment.
His emotions always turn into a whirlwind whenever he appears, and this time is no different.
She’s getting closer and closer to the degree of power necessary to achieve her true purpose.
The Quantum Ruler’s eyes narrow.
The purpose of slaying the Corrupted One.
He continues watching her for a few seconds as she makes her way back to the Dimensional Blocks before closing the screen in front of him and turning his attention to the next matter at hand.
The matter of the Quantum Ruler’s Successor.
