B5 | Chapter 10

  Alexia

To my surprise, when the Quantum Scribe appears high above an army of corrupted creatures, he’s still wearing that same suit and tie. Meanwhile the only thing different about him proving that he’s in his True Form is the fact that he’s radiating quantum energy like a beacon, and that he has glasses on for some reason.

Oh, and his pen glows now. Can’t forget that detail.

  The glowing pen.

And glitching. Can’t forget that either.

It kind of reminds me of that whole quote about the pen being mightier than the sword. Except in a literal sense.

As proven when the Quantum Scribe goes and begins writing on some glowing, glitchy screens that appear in front of him. Making millions of creatures that completely mirror the corrupted creatures appear down below before beginning to fight the corrupted creatures.

I move up close to him before reading what he’s writing. Only to find that he’s literally writing some sort of script for how the battle will play out. And when I glance between the battle and the script, the battle is actually flowing exactly how the script states it will.

Pretty much the ability to write out a story and make it come true, just like Zal said.

That said, after a minute, most of the creations start vanishing. Only for him to create another set of quantum creatures to fight against the corrupted ones.

Then the process repeats again. And again. And again. As he continues killing off the corrupted creatures while making sure none of them actually approach him or do any damage to the surroundings through his script. Wordlessly controlling everything around the area without actually fighting himself.

Even when a Corruptor appears, he just surrounds it with more quantum creatures that he has attack it. Just slowly wearing it down until the Corruptor kills them, takes a single step, and ends up fighting more of his creations.

Then this process also repeats itself until the Corruptor finally dies a rather pitiful death of being overwhelmed.

Okay… this is actually kind of sad to watch.

It’s not like the Quantum Architect who used overwhelmingly flashy attacks and stuff. Instead it’s just him dogpiling the corrupted creatures with creations of his own and depicting how the story will go.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

And throughout that process, I only see the Corruptor breaking out of his script a couple times.

But not once did I ever see the Quantum Scribe actually fight personally. The only thing he’s ever done this entire battle was float back and write. Dictating this entire battle through the pen.

  It’s… honestly kind of ridiculous.

  Very ridiculous in fact.

So ridiculous I feel like I’m watching some fictional tale and not reality.

Then again, considering that he’s writing this himself, I guess it is a fictional tale. In reality.

Right as I’m thinking this second trial is about to complete though, the Corruptor that looked like it was dying suddenly explodes into energy. Sending all of the Scribe’s creations flying at once. Then it rushes straight at the Quantum Scribe, ignoring all of his creations as they fade away.

But the Quantum Scribe doesn’t show any fear or worry at all when faced with this. Instead he just continues to write.

Making some sort of wormhole appear in front of him that the Corruptor just kinda enters by accident. Only to pop out several dozen meters away. At which point more of the Scribe’s creations continue attacking the thing.

The Corruptor deals with them again before rushing at the Quantum Scribe. And somehow stumbling in mid-air the instant the Corruptor throws out an arc of energy at the Scribe. Missing him entirely in the process before the Scribe calmly floats away and a portal of sorts appears where the Corruptor stumbles.

Teleporting the Corruptor back to the other side of the battlefield.

I feel my eyebrow twitch at what I’m watching.

Because it just continues. Over and over again. Endlessly.

The Corruptor deals with the Scribe’s creations, rushes at the Scribe, only for some bizarre event to send it far away. Whether it’s through the Corruptor tripping, stumbling, falling into a wormhole or portal, or even somehow managing to attack itself and send itself flying away from him. It always ends up being unable to even land a hit.

And slowly, ever so slowly, the Corruptor gets covered in more and more injuries from the creations made by the Scribe.

Then the Scribe finally pauses for a moment and takes off his glasses. Following which he continues writing, making all the creations he currently has combine into one massive entity.

I watch the entity open its massive mouth and begin charging some sort of breath attack. Only for the Scribe himself to float up to the breath attack and begin writing on the orb of energy itself.

And the moment he finishes writing, the breath attack shoots out to annihilate everything around us, including the Corruptor.

Finally finishing it off along with the second trial.

Or rather, the trial itself finishes after he finishes dealing with the rest of the corrupted creatures scattered around the area. The ones who were incredibly far away from the blast.

Putting that aside though, I’ve learned several things about the Scribe and his fighting style from this.

For one, he’s annoying as fucking hell.

Writing out reality so that he avoids a direct confrontation as much as possible. Creating armies of creatures to overwhelm you with numbers. And then finishing it all off with a single massive blow combining both his personal energy and all the creature’s he’s summoned.

He sounds like a massive pain in the ass to fight.

  But not necessarily strong himself.

He’s like a summoner in a way. Just one with nearly endless and only temporary summons.

Meaning this fight is going to be a massive nuisance.

I can see why he’s ranked so low on the authority though, considering he’s nearly a one trick pony. Or one trick Quantum Being.

  It should be fine though.

I have area of effect attacks that should easily be able to wipe out his creations.

  Hopefully.
