A Rogue Angel

  YELLOW HOUSE, SUBURBS

They drive to a quiet, yellow two-story house in the suburbs. The day is a little gray, now,

They walk up and knock on the door.

Robert: Hello there, it's a friend. We both got fired from the same place. We'd like to help..

Blade and Dylan walk off around the side, looking through the windows. Robert doesn't notice. They peek through each and every window, one by one, most of them concealed with a curtain.

  Dylan: See anything, yet?

Blade: Not yet, although I do see a--

As Blade speaks, someone lightly pulls the curtain apart to greet her, but the camera cuts away before we see anything explicit.

  Blade: Augh! Peeny!

  Dylan: Where? Let me see.

Robert: Dylan! What the heck is wrong with you? The-the bible was very specific about this kind of thing!

  Dylan: What about women?

Robert: Oh, you can do whatever you want with them.

Dylan: Right. Well, I was joking. Blade wasn't, though. Got flashed.

Robert: Is this one of the people you let in?!

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

Dylan: Not likely. I'd know that penis.

Robert: Okay, great, we still need to bring this guy in.

The three burst through the door.

  Blade pulls out a blade.

Robert: No, you won't need that. We can take care of him, if he doesn't go easy.

Blade: I believe you, but (shakes head) I can't... make myself put it away.

Robert: That's fine. Just, let me assure you you'll be fine.

Blade nods. They pass into the living room, where the Rogue Angel (1lp), a somewhat unhealthy-looking man, awaits on a white couch, his surroundings immaculate.

Robert: I know who you are. You're one of us... we need your help up there. It's full of people, that don't need to be. They're hurting the others, the innocent ones. This could hurt you. I mean, really hurt you, if they somehow got access to our records, and tracked you down.

The Rogue Angel just scans their faces in turn, for a long minute...

Rogue: I like it here. I don't want to leave.

  He looks up at Robert.

Rogue: You in charge? You look like the one in charge.

  Robert: Unofficially, but yeah, okay.

Rogue Angel: I want you to tell everyone like you to stay away from me. You'll get no further contact from me, and I expect you to reciprocate. This is what I offer, you don't get to bargain.

A car drives by, just outside. Most everyone watches as the car passes for a second, until the Rogue Angel waves his hand, and the blinds magically shut. Their attention is drawn back to the Rogue Angel.

Rogue Angel: I don't want anything to do with the others. Not you guys, not anybody. I don't care what kind of shit happens up there, it's no concern of mine. I'll take care of anyone that comes my way.

Robert: We're gonna have to say something, Del.

The Rogue Angel is angered at this. Robert's not supposed to know his true name. He points to Robert, and laughs lowly.

  Rogue: I know what you're doing, there. I don't like it, but it's something I would've done...

Dylan looks, confused at Robert. Robert waves him away, nodding his head.

  Robert: (to Dylan) Later.

Robert rolls up his sleeves, and strides slowly toward the Rogue Angel, who doesn't move from his couch, or change his general expression of, "Are you sure you want to go through with this?"

Robert: You may be surprised to hear, but I'm not afraid to get violent when it comes to bringing --

A loud SNAP! The air is filled with light, and Robert is knocked back. Blade and Dylan scatter, Dylan sneaking directly toward the Rogue Angel. Blade is as well, but she's taking the long way 'round, creeping up behind the couch.

Dylan tries to levitate then throw a coffee table at him, but it fades into nothing long before it reaches him.

The Rogue Angel reaches out, and bits of skin begin to peel off from Dylan's arms and legs, leaving bloody spots visible through his jeans. Dylan groans, and winces, but by now, Blade has snuck up behind the couch and run her knife through the Rogue Angel's jaw.

Rogue Angel: (gurgled) You sons of bitches.

He flops to the floor, on his back, staining a perfectly white carpet with a steadily spreading red.
