Rushing Water

"The reason my brother can be in nearly any situation and lie through his fucking teeth even when everyone knows he is lying, and even fool an emotional manipulator like Sigil is because he doesn't view what he is doing as a lie. He simply sees it as an act, and everyone around him is his audience and he has to be a good enough actor to make everyone believe his performance. He doesn't feel guilty about it because he doesn't think he is doing anything wrong. The same way an actor on screen doesn't feel bad for the act they are performing because they are not lying to people they are acting." Vezaias had explained. It made sense, and Ava is very good at doing this even when nobody believed his act. They worked on the performance of what things they would let the group 'secretly listen to' over the not so secret microphone. Remington and Lux landed in the bedroom. Ava was still being held hostage but there would be no way they should know about that so they couldn't actively help Ava. Remington sat on the bed knowing what his role would be. Lux sat at the desk and lit a cigarette. He looked authentically distracted now, but Remington knew Lux would play his own role perfectly because it wasn't far off from how he really felt in the first place. He would just be saying other more fabricated reasons.

"Lux? Are you alright?" Remington was genuinely worried about him. The accumulation of all the stress from the past few days was difficult for both of them. Lux continued to look distracted.

"What is your number?" Remington asked. Lux ignored him. "Lux?"

"Like a fucking eight, Remington. Sorry I can barely hear you." Lux snapped.

"You don't have to apologize." Remington said gently.

"Well I feel like I do. We have run out of time, what the fuck are we going to do?!" Lux snapped.

"All I can do is hope that they will help me." Remington said unhappily. "I'm scared too, okay. I tried as hard as I could. I gave it my best shot trying to fix everything that Vezaias did. I feel so guilty that he did this shit and I cannot instantly fix it. If they decide that it wasn't good enough then I guess I will just let them take over and if they decide I should die then I won't fight it." Remington said solemnly.

"That's bullshit. I never did anything wrong! What if they decide to kill me Remington?!" Lux was now frantic.

"I know you had nothing to do with this and I'm sorry. I don't think they will kill you....just me. It's fine though I deserve it." Remington said, feeling his eyes fill with tears.

"It's not fine Remington, you don't deserve to die for this either. You have been doing all this shit to undo the damage. I don't want you to give up, I just don't think I can survive without you!” Lux pleaded.

“Lux…” Remington began emotionally. The thought of losing Lux now was excruciating, even on a hypothetical level. “I just can't do this anymore. I can't, nothing ever works out for me. I thought maybe I could move past him, but he is clinging to me even in death, he's gone but I cannot escape him. There is nothing that I can do to detach myself from him. I just want my life to end so that I can finally be at peace. Maybe when I die I will find him wherever he ended up at.” Remington said solemnly. “I am going to my bedroom. I just want to be alone.” Remington mumbled painfully. All real feelings he had felt in the past. He felt them as if it were happening all over again.

“Remington, don't leave me. Let me go with you.” Lux urged.

  “You can't smoke in my…”

“Then I won't!” Lux slammed his light on the table. It wasn't planned and Remington jumped at the sound.

“I don't want you to follow me. Stay here Lux.” Remington said firmly.

“Why can't I go with you?!” Lux shouted.

“BECAUSE I DON'T WANT YOU TOO!” Remington shouted. “JUST LEAVE ME ALONE ALRIGHT?!” Remington shouted. Lux was crying now, real tears. He was taking this way too seriously.

“Remington…please don't do this to me. I need you. I will be lost without you.” Lux cried softly.

“No you won't. You will be fine. Just leave me….”

“REMINGTON I LOVE YOU!” Lux shouted. This wasn't planned. Remington froze. “I love you and I haven't been able to admit it yet, but I cannot survive without you. I love you. Please don't leave me.” Lux said, soaking in all of his real feelings for Remington. Remington swallowed back his real feelings.

“Lux I…..I have to go.” He said choking on the pain. He left quickly. He wasn't at all prepared for Lux to unload his real feelings for him. Lux crumbled and cried. Vezaias told him out of earshot from Remington that he would need to help Remington feel real authentic emotions and to do whatever he had to in order to achieve that. He did his job well. It was at least an hour before he could stop crying. He spent another 30 minutes chain smoking cigarettes. He finally worked up the courage to go to the infirmary to get his medication alone. He sat down on the hospital bed and waited while desperately trying not to cry again. It took a long moment before Zexich appeared. Lux only sat soaking in his feelings and was very distracted.

“Hello Lux. Are you here for your medication?” Zexich asked politely. Lux only looked distracted for a moment. Zexich was patient and waited for him to settle.

“I don't think I am a zombie slave anymore. I thought being free would make me happy. I was wrong.” Lux said looking brokenhearted. “You know I'm just not good at making friends. The only two friends I've ever made wanted to make friends with me first.” Lux paused looking destroyed. Zexich was still patient. “Can I just have my medication so I can go?” Lux asked solemnly. Zexich sighed and nodded. He walked away to get the medication. He returned with the set of doses and a paper cup with water. Lux quickly swallowed them without checking them.

“Lux, you did not examine them?” Zexich questioned.

“Honestly I couldn't care less if they poison me and I die right now.” He said as he got up slowly to leave.

“Lux, I know you are not very skilled at making friends. I, however, am very good at making friends. If it is okay with you I can make you my friend. It may not be as satisfying as being a zombie slave, but I promise to be the best friend that I can be.” Zexich said sincerely. Lux looked distracted for a long moment, he then straightened up looking angrily at Zexich.

“The voices said I shouldn't accept friendship charity anymore, and I shouldn't trust you outside of my medical care. I feel like something terrible is going to happen to Remington and there is nothing I can do to stop it. I've felt like this for days. I'm sorry but I just can't trust anyone other than Remington, and he doesn't want me anymore.” Lux was very serious, then he left abruptly. He landed in his room and collapsed into the bed to cry himself to sleep.

Remington and Lux did not show up to work out or train the next day. Lux went to the infirmary just before the briefing to collect his medication. He wasn't in the mood to talk but Zexich tried very hard to drag him into a conversation. Lux became frustrated quickly.

“I do hope you will reconsider my friendship offer. Making friends is always a positive thing as long as both people are authentic with their intentions.” Zexich said politely.

“Yeah? You think so? Maybe you are just not authentic enough for me then.” Lux snapped at him, then he left quickly. He ended up at the briefing sitting down very nervously wondering if Remington was alright and how his night alone had gone. The painful interaction from the previous day was still fresh in his mind. Eventually Remington showed up but elected to sit somewhere else which was strategic to fool the members into believing they really were not on positive terms. This would throw the focus off of whether they were working together toward a goal under the guidance of their leader with the notion that Vezaias could be alive. Remington stared at the floor. This was terribly nerve racking. He noticed right away Ava was not going to show up as expected and Skyler was also not going to be present at the briefing. For whatever reason Rocks did not show up either. The meeting started and things quickly focused on Remington.

“I want your report, Remington.” Sigil was not playing around. Remington took a deep breath. This had to be believable.

“We finished searching the house, but then we realized something that should have been obvious. Vincent was at Gran's house when Vezaias trapped him, so he must have arrived with one of his vehicles, but there was no vehicle there. Ava seemed to think it would be back at the garage at his father's house. So we went there and sure enough. Vezaias must have taken it there. Then we went inside the house and looked around. Then I used my telescope to check and see if there were any layers that Vezaias could have made and there was one. Then inside that layer there is a strange room that doesn't belong in that house. On the far end of the room we can see the key hanging up at the end of a long wide hallway. I figured that it would be too easy to just run over there and take it, and it was. As soon as I crossed a certain point in the room I was targeted with offensive weapons. I could dodge them but I ran out of speed before I could get more than half way down. I tried more than once, but only narrowly escaped each time without reaching the key.” Remington looked defeated.

“Are you sure this is the correct key?” Sigil asked.

“Ugh, I don't know, it's far away but it looks the same.” He put his face in his hands. “I just can't get to it because it's too far and I'm not fast enough.” Remington groaned.

“I think it's a set up.” Maxwell spoke up.

“What?! I found the fucking key didn't I?! How the fuck am I going to set up an imaginary room with a bunch of invisible weapons?!” Remington snapped getting to his feet. “I've tried so hard to fix this! I just can't do it!” Remington crumbled and he began to cry into his hands. Lux got up quickly to come to his aid.

“You are in need of emotional support, Remington, true or false?” Lux asked. Remington peeked out of his hands.

“False Lux! Leave me alone! I can't take care of you any more!” Remington shoved him away. Lux cringed and left the briefing quickly.

“I'm sorry! I've tried so hard! You want to take over then do it! I wanted to fix this! But I can't! I'm so fucking frustrated, I feel like I've failed!” Remington cried harder. They all let him cry.

“If you need speed, I can give you all the speed that you want.” Lucius spoke up after the room was quiet enough. Remington sniffled and paused looking up at Lucius.

“I don't know about that Luis, are you sure you should trust going into a trap and making it out safely with this ridiculous key?” Maxwell huffed.

“Oh please Maxwell, what trap could possibly be fast enough to catch me?” Lucius said arrogantly.

“Ugh, Luis this is not the time to be so confident!” Maxwell scoffed.

“I would like to see for myself if Remington is being truthful. If I get this key for him and he frees Vincent then that clears up the whole situation.” Lucius mused.

“But if you can't, then you will most likely be in a shit ton of danger!” Maxwell snapped.

“Spare me your lack of confidence in my talent, Ax.” Lucius rolled his eyes in disgust.

“It's not your talent that I do not have confidence in! You know the other situations that are happening! Why should you risk it?!” Maxwell pressed, getting angry.

“I will go with.” Demetri interrupted.

  “What?!” Maxwell snapped.

“I will go with to provide extra back up for Lucius. He can attempt to get the key, if he is successful, great, if things get dangerous for other reasons I will be there to help him.” Demetri said seriously.

“Squirt I cannot let you do that..” Maxwell replied worriedly

“I wasn't asking for permission!” Demetri snapped back.

  “Squirt…” Maxwell protested.

“No, I have seen both sides of the evidence. I want to believe that Remington is choosing redemption. I am going to find out for myself.” Demetri said firmly.

  “Fine.” Maxwell said in defeat.

It was settled. Lucius and Demetri would follow Remington to Vincent's house where the hiding spot was, to get the key. Lux was in his room smoking a cigarette waiting for his next cue. Demetri instructed Remington to be ready in one hour to leave. Remington waited in his room. Rocks was guarding who he thought was Skyler in a holding room. Ava was very cooperative as this is how he knew Skyler would behave. Maxwell, Sigil and Zexich would still be at the base, along with several of the inactive members. Separating two of the strongest members was going to give them the advantage. Remington knew that this would still not be easy.

Things had settled down. The members had listened to the audio as soon as Sigil knew they had arrived back. The next day after the briefing there was one more secret meeting to discuss things before Lucius and Demetri would go with Remington on the mission to retrieve the key. Vezaias listened to their conversation for as long as he could.

“It seems now they are both much more authentic. They both speak of Vezaias as being dead. Seemingly lost forever. This is so off-putting.” Zexich pondered this harshly. “But now with Skyler's situation I do not know what to believe. He hasn't been acting as if he is suspicious but the intelligence I received was very convincing. It is so very inconsistent which in itself is suspicious. Now they both seem to be acting 'just right'. Now Ava has gone missing again and Lucius claims he just needs time away from the base, but why now at this crucial moment?” Zexich considered everything. “Now Lux is afraid something is going to happen to Remington, and with their falling out while Lux gave his confession of love, but Remington refused to be tamed? I just don't see how that would fit into a plan of attack involving Vezaias being alive? It just doesn't make sense. Now I also get this sickening feeling that we are being spied on as if someone is looking over my shoulder. It is a very unsettling feeling and I have never in my life felt like this before.” Zexich continued.

“Well we will find out as soon as I try to get that key.” Lucius mused. “Don't worry. I will be quick about it.” He grinned haughtily.

“Ugh I still don't like this Luis. You better come back alive.” Maxwell pressed.

“Of course I will.” Lucius said. They seemed to make eye contact for a moment. Maxwell looked away eventually and was quiet.

“We will be fine Maxwell. Try not to worry so much.” Demetri said. Maxwell pulled him into his arms and then kissed him.

“I'll try Squirt. Just be safe. I am going to activate our emergency protocol just in case.”

Vezaias scoffed at their confidence. He knew how it would play out already. He felt Ephraim stir against his chest. Vezaias kissed his soft colorless hair and rubbed his naked back. Ephraim shifted snuggling harder into Vezaias's warm body.

“Eph, it's time to wake up.” He said softly. Ephraim woke and stretched out.

“Mhmm.” He hummed. Eventually he pulled himself away from Vezaias's muscular body and got out of bed and took a shower as Vezaias had encouraged him to do. When he was finished Vezaias was ready to leave. Ephraim looked worried.

“I will be back.” Vezaias said with mild confidence.

“I hope so. Please be careful.” Ephraim said.

“I left a few screens open so you can watch.” Vezaias said. Ephraim nodded but looked like he would cry. “Eph, it's going to be fine.” Vezaias reassured him. He pulled Ephraim close and kissed him. Eventually he turned back to watch as Remington was now in place and shifting Lucius, Demetri, and himself to the key's hiding spot.

“That's my cue Eph. I will see you when it's over.” Vezaias told him. He pulled away from Ephraim reluctantly and smiled.

“Please come back.” Ephraim looked emotional.

“Don't worry. You have no idea what I am capable of. See you soon.” He said just as he faded out of the hiding spot.

Remington and his two targets landed in the room that the key was in. They could clearly see a key hanging from a hook at the far end of the long hallway. Lucius crossed his arms looking amused.

“So there it is, once you pass the picture frame on the wall the offensive assault activates.” Remington said seriously.

“And what sort of offensive assault happens?" Lucius asked, looking intrigued.

“Lux told me these are semi intelligent motion sensing machine guns.” Remington answered looking irritated at the mention of him.

“I want to see you make an attempt.” Lucius said, still very amused.

“What?! But I can't make it across!” Remington shouted in irritation.

“I am aware of that. It will ensure to me that I am not heading out into an obvious trap, plus it will help me to see how to best make it across myself if it is in fact not a trap.” Lucius mused. “I do not care how far you make it as long as it provides me with some insight.”

“Ugh, fine.” Remington said he stepped forward and prepared for his task. Lucius and Demetri watched him closely as he shot forward into the room ducking, dodging and flipping past the shots fired from the machine guns that suddenly appeared from the walls and rapidly firing while simultaneously following his location. He slowed the situation making it further, however there was a machine gun at the end of the hall firing directly at him, which was the most difficult gunshots to avoid. The shots seemed to scatter as they were fired leaving less space for him to dodge them then unexpectedly there was an explosion knocking Remington to the ground, but recovering quickly twisting to avoid the shot but not fast enough and a bullet caught him in the fleshy part of his shoulder. He staggered and desperate to escape alive he did a back handspring towards the entrance but the injury weakened his arm and slid to a painful stop just after making it to safety.

“I suppose that was your best attempt?” Lucius mused looking down at him. Demetri was now beside him checking his wound. Remington cupped his shoulder painfully and slowly got to his feet.

“Do you think I was fucking joking about this shit!” Remington snapped.

“This injury is very serious. You need to get to the infirmary right away.” Demetri said, helping him put pressure on the gushing wound.

“Not until Lucius gets that key, since he is so much fucking better than I am!” Remington snapped angrily.

“Hmph, I shall give it my best shot then and finish this quickly so Remington does not bleed to death.” Lucius said haughtily. He turned to prepare himself. Before he began he summoned his Shinehana and with a two handed heave he threw it across the hallway then shot forward into the line of fire. The Shinehana tumbled forward and just as the machine gun appeared at the finish line to begin rapid firing at him, the Shinehana struck the weapon causing it to crunch and completely disabled it. Now Lucius slowed time, easily weaving through the gunfire coming from the walls and remaining just a step ahead of the shots that were firing at him. Remington watched in amazement as the gun was destroyed and in nearly a blink of an eye Lucius traversed the hallway reaching for the key but stumbling through the wall where it hung as if it were made of smoke. Remington grinned knowing what he had to do next. Lucius had seemed to completely disappear from view now and Demetri was astonished for a moment just before realizing this outcome was a clear sign. This really was a trap. He reacted to summon his Tritar as Remington glanced at him.

“Don't worry Demetri, I will find him.” He looked very menacing. He shot forward into the hall, this time none of the guns fired at Remington but redirected at Demetri. He began to play a chord to defend himself but nothing happened. He was shocked as he watched Remington disappear wherever Lucius had gone. He tried to play again but no water happened.

“I wouldn't bother with that. Your talent won't work as long as I am here.” A vicious familiar voice said from behind him. Demetri jolted and turned to see Vezaias who looked very thrilled to see him.

“Hey Dem, it's been a while. Didja miss me?” Vezaias cooed.

“Vezaias! How the fuck…?!” Demetri urged.

“Am I alive?” Vezaias finished his question. “….easy, I was never dead to begin with. That dead body you saw, well that was just what you wanted to believe happened. It was fake, a delusion! Pretty clever right?” Vezaias smiled viciously again. “….so here I am, all alive and shit, but wait! Here is the best part! You and all your fucking friends? Well, you are all done for now. I'm taking the base today and you will be lucky if any of you make it out alive. I'm not too keen on leaving any survivors.” Vezaias spat cheerfully. Demetri quickly reached for his pocket to make a fast exit, but Vezaias anticipated this and flung a machete at his hand impaling it with a direct hit, cutting his hand nearly in half from between his middle finger and ring finger down to his wrist. He screamed clutching the blade and yanking it out of his hand and dropping it to the floor and dematerializing it. He held his hand as it gushed blood. Vezaias wandered over and took his keycard that he had dropped.

“Look it's nothing personal really, I am working towards something very important and you and your friends would just get in the way.” He pocketed the card. “Since your weapon is a fucking Tritar, and I have eliminated your talent I find this to be a bit boring. You're not threatening at all. So maybe I won't kill you immediately. What do you say we watch what is happening on the other side. I'm sure Remington's battle is much more interesting than this one.” Vezaias said humdrumedly. He gave a wave of his hand and the trap room faded away to reveal a large wide open space where Remington and Lucius were in a heated battle.

Lucius fell through the wall as if it just vanished, making him stumble unexpectedly but he recovered and quickly jerked to look and see where he ended up. It was a large open space and it was very clear that this was in fact a trap. He turned to look where he had fallen from and jumped back summoning his Shinehana just as Remington flew through the mirage wall and clashed crystal blade into khopesh.

“Our suspicions we're right! You were never seeking redemption!” Lucius snapped angrily. Remington did not reply but only clashed harder and swiped at Lucius relentlessly. He couldn't afford to underestimate Lucius even if Remington had the advantage. Lucius realized right away Remington was no longer injured, and the wound had been fake, plus even as he tried to slow time and gain any sort of ground, Remington was easily keeping pace with him. He had to be conservative with his talent and strike when Remington ran out of speed. This notion kept him cautious when choosing when to slow time. He could only hope that Demetri was safe and figuring out the best plan of action on his end of the situation. All of this observation was short lived when the room suddenly shifted away to reveal an open area where the trap room used to be. Lucius caught out of the corner of his eye Demetri who was bloody then Vezaias standing looking very amused watching the battle unfold. He had no time to process this as Remington was deadly serious in his attacks and putting pressure on him to pay attention to their battle. Remington ducked under the Shinehana then jumped landing on it's hilt and with a back handspring kicking his feet bashing Lucius in the face and landing gracefully to the ground as he swung his crystal blade slicing at Lucius dangerously close to landing very critical hits. Lucius whirled narrowly avoiding the attacks then swinging his khopesh to counter but only to clash with the crystal blade and suddenly now it was a battle of physical strength which Remington was slowly losing.

“Ugh, common Rem, stop fucking around and finish this!” Vezaias pressed. Remington suddenly became even more threatening leaving Lucius no room for mistakes. He knew that with Vezaias added to the equation he would have to gain the upper hand quickly and go for whatever kill shot he could take in order for Demetri and him to survive this situation. He slowed time hoping that Remington had already exhausted enough of his own speed to run out before Lucius’s did. Remington matched his speed for as long as possible but soon he began to slow and Lucius quickly took advantage of this by slowing time even further which would exhaust his own talent quickly but it gave him a short window of opportunity to move in for the kill as Remington could not move fast enough. He swung his khopesh which would be a critical deadly hit, but suddenly Remington sped up or rather Lucius slowed down as his talent was disabled and Remington swerved at the last moment dodging the attack, then with a twirl bashing Lucius in the back of the head and he slid to a stop face down on the ground.

“Stop helping me! I want to beat him without you!” Remington shouted.

“Geez Rem, a simple 'Thanks for saving my ass just now.’ would have been sufficient.” Vezaias scoffed playfully.

“I can beat him without your help!” Remington insisted angrily.

“Remington, this isn't a contest to see who is faster, which 'SPOILER ALERT' is definitely Lucius, he was just about to make a clean kill shot on you, and you would have lost us the battle, then I would have had to step in and win us the war!” If you don't want help then fucking end this battle right now!” Vezaias snapped. Lucius staggered to his feet and countered. Remington was angry now at the demand and rushed Lucius clashing with him but with a slight moment of opportunity he reached out grasping Lucius with his invisible grip and swinging him upwards then slamming him down like a hammer to the ground and holding him firmly in place. Lucius struggled but he knew in the back of his mind that it was over. Once caught in this grip, there was no escape, and without his talent he could have no hope of recovering from this. Remington jumped keeping him secure then dropping his crystal blade down impaling Lucius through the shoulder then flipping back and landing gracefully away from him. Demetri was on his knees and sobbing silently covering his mouth with his uninjured hand. Lucius grabbed at the blade stuck in his shoulder but he dared not pull it out as it would cause him to bleed faster.

“Why are you doing this!” Demetri shouted.

“Ugh, shut up Dem. Did you really think I was just going to show up to a battle with you and all your friends and let you kill me?!” Vezaias said maliciously. He walked over to Lucius laying helplessly on the floor. He grabbed the crystal blade and jerked it out, slicing into Lucius's chest deeply. Lucius gushed with blood and gargled out a painful scream.

“Of course not! Now you're finished, your friends are finished, and I'm taking your base for my own.” Vezaias said, pointing the crystal blade at him.

“They will stop you!” Demetri threatened.

“Ha!” Vezaias scoffed. “Right now Rocks is all alone with my other secret weapon, Ava, disguised as Skyler with all of his talents at his disposal!” Vezaias declared.

“Where is Skyler then?!” Demetri demanded to know.

“HE'S DEAD!” Vezaias shouted. Demetri covered his mouth again. “I killed him the day of the theater play! The Skyler you have seen since then has either been Ava who can shape shift or a very convincing mirage that I created!” Vezaias snapped. Demetri was sobbing. “Now Ava will kill Rocks and Lux is ready to take care of Sigil, and I will dispose of you two trash just in time to finish your stupid boyfriend! And that will be the end of that!” Vezaias yelled, looking triumphant. “But that's not even the best part Dem! Now I can show you my true form before I kill you!” Lucius was quickly declining in life. Vezaias hauled him closer then sunk his fangs into Lucius's neck ripping flesh away and consuming it quickly. Demetri watched in horror as Lucius screamed in agony. He reached down and clutched Lucius by the chest, drawing out the crystal and breaking a chuck away to absorb for himself then returning what remained back inside of Lucius’s chest. Vezaias then continued to eat his banquet until the life had left Lucius's body.

“Ugh, stale already.” He dropped the corpse to the ground, half eaten and with a growing pool of blood around it. Vezaias turned to Demetri now. He was overwhelmed and horrified but that only doubled as Vezaias began to shift in appearance and size as his skin wrapped itself in red leathery scales and the blankets of skin fell from his back then his eyes growing red and vicious until he was fully transformed into his demon form.

“What the fuck happened to you Vezaias?!” Demetri jolted.

“You like it? Thought I'd go with a new look.” Vezaias chuckled back at him.

“What are you?!” Demetri shouted angrily.

“Your worst nightmare of course.” Vezaias said haughtily. He closed in on Demetri now. Demetri tried to scramble away but Remington secured him.

“Remington! Is he controlling you?! Or are you doing this willingly?!” Demetri sobbed as he struggled. Remington was unemotional and did not answer.

“Answer him Rem. He wants to know. Be honest now.” Vezaias said smoothly.

“As I told Skyler before he died, it was stupid of you all to vote to keep me alive. The moment I found out where Vezaias had hidden himself I returned to his side and that's where I intend to stay.” Remington said very callously.

“But he doesn't even look like he is human anymore!” Demetri snapped, trying not to let his fear of Vezaias's demon form, or the fact that he was about to die, consume him in these last few moments.

“I love him Dem, wouldn't you do the same if this were Maxwell?” Remington asked.

“Of course not! Not if he was killing people and eating them!” Demetri sobbing angrily.

“Then I guess I love Vezaias more than you love Maxwell. I would follow him into hell and die for him if he asked me too.” Remington said firmly.

“Enough of this, I'm starving. I need plenty of nutrition if I'm going to take control of the base today.” He came even closer to Demetri, and snatched him from the ground. Demetri didn't bother to struggle. He wasn't going to beg, and he would keep his composer and dignity until the very end.

“If you ever cared at all, please tell Maxwell that I'm sorry, and I love him. I will see him again someday and I will think about him until I fade away.” Demetri huffed.

“Hmm, perhaps I will Dem. I'm not a monster after all!……..Ah! Oh wait! Maybe I am!” And with that Vezaias sunk his teeth into Demetri’s neck and his fist dug deep into Demetri’s chest then after taking a piece of his crystal he continued sinking his teeth into flesh.
