Chapter 58 - Embarrassment

Clara had plenty of experience in dealing with people, especially the weird nobles that acted far too terribly. Absolute terror filled her limbs when she caught one of the less experienced followers talking to them.

Clara had stepped in more than once between a vile man and a grand believer of Brightness’s Delight. It was mostly a thankless job, but Brightness’s Delight had thanked her more than once.

It was plenty to get by, and she always reported the awful men towards the judicial system of this nation; which also worked wonders in cleansing the world from the beings of the five hells, or the beings that belong there.

Clara continued this work, up until she was dragged away from her home by this quest. It was true that it would wind up in the destruction of the world if the party had failed. And it already took them a year and three months to get to today… Didn’t the quest have a time limit?

  58 - Embarrassment

Clara laughed at Shammus’s reddening face at Bariton’s honestly pretty weak flirt. She’d heard better from the bard before, and he was downing his tea like a drunkard. Clara couldn’t help but laugh at the two.

She took a bite of her omelette. It was cooked pretty well; one could say it was the best she’d had, but nothing could ever match Brightness’s Delight’s cooking, or Clara’s mother’s. She enjoyed the flavors though.

They were nice, a twinge of spiciness that was quenched partially by the molten cheese. It was a good omelette, and she noticed Kishtan vanished somewhere during her little laughing bout and consuming the food.

Bariton and Shammus were both suffering each other's company, but Clara had other thoughts from them. Pallad and Judine could watch the two anyways. So Clara stood up and saw Kishtan walking out the door.

“Where are you heading?” She asked Kishtan, before he managed to get out. He already opened the door, and sunlight was streaming in through it. The light simply shined atop Kishtan’s back as he turned to face her, leaving his face obscured in shadow.

“Ah, I’m bringing us to floor 46. We’ll be needing the space for the training.” Clara looked at him confused, but he simply walked out and shut the door. The sound of the lock being clicked in place was surprising, but then it began to shake.

Pallad ran out the kitchen to the main room, and he shouted over the shaking of the building. “What’s happening?” The paladin was still steady in the swaying building, but Clara didn’t have such good luck.

She almost collapsed but she got a hold of a steady pillar. Her grip was enough to cause cracks so she loosened it slightly. “Kishtan’s moving us up the tower!” Clara knew that was the probable direction for the next floor, but this dungeon was made vastly different from how most buildings typically are built.

The floors got more vast the further they went, one of them even copied the capital near flawlessly. The others were probably foreign spots in the real world; which terrified Clara as she thought.

At least she got the answer she wanted of what floor she was on, it was 45. The next few floors were either going to be quick; or a snails pace. She knew not what to expect on floor 46, nor floor 50.

Pallad seemed just as confused as he grabbed onto the doorway, acting as the pillar Clara was latched onto for Bariton and Shammus. Judine was probably safely in the kitchen gripping onto the counter.

Bariton yelled out, “I don’t wanna die!”, but Clara yelled back; “You’re not gonna you dumb bard!” The shaking intensified before it died down, and Kishtan entered the palace. He wasn’t in dragon form, but his human form was less human.

Kishtan now had scales climbing up his arm and his hands were now replaced by dragon claws. The damage on the pillar was healed instantly, and Clara healed Pallad as he breathed a sigh of relief as Bariton let go.

His hand took a moment longer to leave Shammus’s side. Interesting, she thought as a light smile fell atop her face. She walked up to Kishtan who nodded silently, the implied question answered.

“Alright team!” Clara yelled out, allowing the acoustics of the palace to carry her voice. Judine was probably first to arrive, with Pallad soon after. Shammus was third with Bariton fourth. “Let’s get moving!”

The team all left the palace to find themselves back on the nice porch of the small housing of the building. Kishtan left last, and locked the door behind him. He simply jumped down as the party looked upon the beautiful mountain range that loomed above them to the west.

Pallad joined Kishtan as Clara looked at the forest below. Judine joined and then so did Clara. It took a few more seconds for Shammus and Bariton to join them in the forest below. Kishtan landed a quick Analyze upon the team.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

“Hm… Yes, very similar stats, not too big of a difference in total.” Kishtan looked upon them all with a curious gaze. He shrugged. “Alright, for the sake of all of us; you four. Please do punch with all of your might towards the trees. I’ll have you all do it in different directions, and don’t use any weapons.”

Kishtan’s instructions were clear, and Clara was called forward first. She looked at her stat screen for just a moment before pushing out her fist with all her might. She did noticeably ignore technique, but Kishtan let that slide.

The forest was destroyed with the fist being pushed forward. It left a cavern about a kilometer wide, and it seemed to reach the horizon. It was a little glassed, as she also noticed how a small amount of life was destroyed alongside the punch.

It was burnt away in a singular moment; not even noticeable if she were any slower. She couldn’t even understand how strong her punch was. But, it also put things into perspective for her. A singular punch did that.

She was holding back every other punch, with an assumption as to how much over 100,000 Power would deal. A very wrong assumption. The cavern was carved into the earth, and the mountain range stood tall in the west still. But it didn’t feel as strong.

Judine was called forward next, and she was to punch towards the east. Clara punched up north, and Judine was probably of similar power to Clara, so she expected a similar shocking scene.

But it was even more explosive, the push outward was violent, and it left a similar cavern with her own, this ravine was far wider, maybe even 3 kilometers. It was odd to see, and it also licked the horizon.

Pallad was given South, who upon pushing outwards left such a deep gash in the world that the bottom was invisible. This one was minimum of 4 kilometers across, and definitely went well beyond the horizon, it was even partially explosive, truly glassing the edges of the cavern.

Bariton had joined Clara and Judine in staring in awe. Bariton was finally given a chance, and he was to attack the North-West, since they had 20 meters between Clara and Pallad’s moment.

Kishtan asked Bariton to punch out, and the Bard obliged. His was more explosive, the air igniting around it. They all definitely surpassed the sound barrier, but the extremes they went varied for certain. The explosive nature of the attack was very grand for certain.

Kishtan only nodded having seen all of it. Bariton’s was similar to Pallad’s, and he seemingly expected it. “Now, you have seen the true limits of your power. This is the upper limit of your punch, and you may have noticed that you haven’t even done the most that you can.” Kishtan glared at Clara as he said that.

Clara knew she used improper technique, but in just sheer destruction that didn’t matter as much, or so she thought. She was now having doubts about that idea. A light doubt, but it was still one eating at her mind.

Kishtan simply nodded seeing that, as he turned to face the mountain range, which was relatively untouched. He pushed his hands into the earth as the ravines slowly filled with glass. He seemed to be measuring them as well with how his eyes flicked from part of the ravine to the next.

Bariton was doing the same with Shammus, actually, but Clara quickly ignored the red faced bard and followed Kishtan’s measurement process. It looked interesting, so she asked, “how are you measuring things like that?”

Kishtan let out a light laugh as he continued. “It’s not too simple at all; but try to scan a tree following the steps for one of the ravines as I walk through it. Curiosity is always great to see in a student.”

Kishtan finished the smallest gash; the one of Clara’s making. He moved on to the second smallest, Judine’s. “You have biomancy, yes?” Kishtan began speaking as Clara followed him.

Clara nodded slightly as Judine looked at the two in curiosity. Kishtan placed his hands upon the earth, and he gestured for Clara to do the same upon the nearby Tree. Kishtan’s eyes didn’t begin moving rapidly, instead they were moving slowly.

“Follow my instructions closely. I’ll be using biomantic terms, so please do try to keep track. It’d be unfortunate to have to teach someone while measuring…” Kishtan nodded his head towards the cavern made by Pallad. “Something of that scale.”
