Basic Guide to Monsters S-1.1

2nd Chapter Page #74: Sludge Drippers

These odd reptilian monsters have the mix gene status of Reptile and Polluted with light traces of Draconic and Predator which is due to them being the slightest bit related to Azthgutns the Dragon of peaceful decay and fated death. The species of lizard are more closely related to salamanders even though they look and live in similar areas as their alligator brothers and really the only thing they share with salamanders is their exceptional ability to heal wounds. They live in swampy or polluted water normally waiting for prey to come near the water and then leaping out grabbing their prey and then dragging them into the depths of the water to eat them.

On the backs of these lizards is usually a large amount of trash and junk but that garbage isn’t actual from the lizard it is trash that gets stuck on the moss that grows from the back of the creature and it has actually been found that if the moss is viciously cleaned it actual has a healing property to it and also smells quite nice. The scales on the lizard come in a variety of greens, browns, blacks, and even oranges in rare cases and the scales seem to be great at keeping out odors when they are dried. Even though they do not have any uses the teeth of sludge drippers are used as decoration by the people of the southern Elgorin swamplands, be it bracelets or hanging from the ceiling they are an important piece of their culture.

The best way to spot a sludge dripper is if you see a cluster of trash either moving against the current or if it is moving in straight lines towards you. The best way to fight them is to get them to follow you onto land as even though they are still fast on land it is still slower than what they would be in water. They also have a weakness on their stomach; the scales are smaller and easier to break through so try and flip them over as safely as you can.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

The two most common evolutions to the sludge dripper are the sewer glutton and the moss salamander which are two branching paths that increase their stats only. To get a sludge dripper to evolve into a sewer glutton they just need to eat over a thousand creatures and then they evolve gaining a boost to their strength, fortitude, and perception. To get a sludge dripper to evolve into a moss salamander they just need to reach level 10 and then they evolve gaining a boost to dexterity, will, wisdom, and perception.

There are three more uncommon evolutions to the sludge dripper, those being the punk raptor, the scrap drakeling, and the toxic fang viper. All of these evolutions do give skills and special changes to mutations. To get a sludge dripper to evolve into a punk raptor they need all four [Dripper Rage] [Rubber Muscles] [Knowledge of The Hunt] [Snake’s Eyes] mutations and be level 5 and then they evolve gaining the [Ripping Bite] skill and all the old mutations will change into [Steaming Anger] [Piston Joints] [Encoded Nature] [Thermal Cyclops]. To get a sludge dripper to evolve into a scrap drakeling they need to have the [Destructor Stomach] and to burn over 5 tons of trash and then they evolve gaining the [Slag Belch] skill and [Thick Scales] changes into [Scrap Armor]. To get a sludge dripper to evolve into a toxic fang viper they need to have the [Toxic Body] and [Snake’s Eyes] mutations and be level 10 and then they evolve gaining the [Toxic Bite] and [Poison Bite] skills.

There is one more rare evolution that a sludge dripper can achieve and that is the swamp giant which causes a massive change to its nature when it evolves. To get sludge dripper to evolve into a swamp giant they need to have all eight of the first mutations and have their class level be 5 and then they evolve changing all eight of mutations to stronger versions of themselves and when they class up the new class will gain the swamped modifier. Even though this is the last evolution a sludge dripper can evolve into, that doesn’t mean they don’t have variants, but variants will be explained in chapter 5.
