Chapter 90: Rulu’s Identity

"Hold on a moment." Captain Guan interjected. "General Li surely wouldn't offer this support without reason — there must be specific requests and conditions as well."

"Indeed, there are." General Li said gravely. "I have two conditions. The first is that this force must be established with the sole purpose of reciming Blue Sea City. It must never be used for personal gain. Otherwise, our Dragon Group will cease all support and take strict punitive measures against you."

Captain Guan said: "Please don't worry about that. We would have done so regardless of whether you said anything."

"Very good. As for the second condition…" General Li shifted his gaze toward Rulu. "I would like to invite young friend Rulu to join this newly formed organization as well, and to lead it alongside Captain Guan and everyone else here. I wonder what you all think of this."

Captain Guan said: "No problem at all. I would very much welcome Rulu joining us. Having someone as capable as Rulu on board is something we could only hope for."

The others also expressed their willingness to accept Rulu. After hearing everyone's responses, General Li looked toward Rulu and said: "And what do you say, young friend Rulu?"

Rulu said: "I have no issue with it on my end. However, since you are the ones inviting me to join this organization, I must be given absolute authority — that is, to serve as your leader."

Upon hearing this, General Li was momentarily taken aback. He said: "Well, this is something we'd need to hear everyone's thoughts on. If all those present agree, I have no objection myself. Would everyone be willing to have young friend Rulu here serve as your leader?"

Having said this, General Li began looking around the room, soliciting opinions.

  "Well, this…"

  "This needs careful consideration."

Hesitation appeared on the faces of those gathered. After all, to them, Rulu was nothing more than an outsider of unknown background. Having Rulu serve as their leader was naturally something they were reluctant to accept.

Just as everyone was struggling with the question, Captain Guan spoke up: "I'm willing to let Rulu be our leader. The st time we fought the Sanctuary in Blue Sea City, it was he who helped us rescue our people, and it was he who devised the pn that allowed General Li's forces to withdraw safely. On that basis alone, I believe he has more than enough ability to lead us."

Someone echoed Captain Guan's words: "Captain Guan is right. Back in Blue Sea City, if it hadn't been for this young man called Rulu coming to our aid, we wouldn't be sitting here talking right now. I agree with Captain Guan."

"But…" the Bald Scarred Man spoke up. "Although I also think he has the ability to lead us, we still know very little about him. Apart from his name, we know nothing — we've never even seen his face. We don't even know if he's Huaxia. Is it really appropriate to let someone of unknown background lead us like this?"

Someone said: "That's a fair point. What if he's a spy for the Sanctuary? Then we'd all be finished."

"Capability is one thing, but at the very least we should know something about who he is."

After hearing these words, General Li also turned a questioning gaze toward Rulu. "To be honest, I'm also a little curious about your background, young friend Rulu. Could you tell us something about yourself, so that everyone can better understand you and feel more at ease?"

Rulu said: "Very well. Since everyone has reservations about my identity, I'll tell you. First of all, I am not Huaxia. Both of my parents were members of the Sanctuary."

Upon hearing this, everyone present was startled. Captain Guan said: "So… so Rulu, you're from the Sanctuary. No wonder your Psionic power is so strong. But if you're from the Sanctuary, why do you hate the Sanctuary so deeply, and why are you helping us fight against them?"

Rulu spoke in a firm, unwavering voice: "Because I have an irreconcible hatred for the Sanctuary. My mother and my sister were both killed by the Sanctuary, and I myself have suffered greatly at their hands. I have sworn to destroy the Sanctuary. My hatred for them is no less than anyone else's here — please believe me on that."

General Li nodded slowly and said: "Though I'm not familiar with the details of your past, I can see from your actions that you are indeed filled with hatred toward the Sanctuary and are truly their enemy. On that point, I believe your words completely."

The Bald Scarred Man said: "Even so, shouldn't you at least let us see your face? You can't expect to lead us while wearing a mask forever."

Rulu said: "My appearance is not what matters. What matters is whether I have the ability to lead you. Let me be straightforward: the Sanctuary is far more powerful than any of you imagine. Without my help, you have no chance of defeating them. Furthermore, the former Governor of Blue Sea City, General Feihu, and Jason were all killed by my own hand. The Sanctuary will never let that go. For the safety of myself and those close to me, I will not reveal my face. If any of you insist on rejecting these terms, that's perfectly fine — I have no obligation to join your organization."
