(204)Chapter 3.5 – The “Majestic” Library. (Part 11)

“I think what we have to do is quite simple but since both my Magic Sense and Magical Eyes are not that “good”, it’s making life harder for us… Anyway, what we have to do is to simply play hide and seek.”

“Hide and seek... I-I think I understand what you are saying. Are you going to use Dispel in this entire space then?”

“While that’s not a bad idea at all and one that would definitely achieve what we want in an instant, I’m not going to do that. The main reason is you of course as I don’t want to harm you in any way as in your current state I do believe if you get hit by that spell something will ensure. Though, but also because of the bookshelf downstairs.”

Yep, I’m afraid that if either gets hit by Dispel something drastic might happen. While she might just be “disconnected” from the connection she has with the orb, the bookshelf downstairs the consequences can be much “dire” and ones that I do not want to mess with nor figure out what they might be. I mean, after all of this time (even though it was like 30 minutes, it still felt like an eternity though) losing all the progress we made because I was careless sure is something that is not on my list. No, it will take a little longer but I will be using Dispel just like I did and to be honest, I do have an idea where I can use this. Remember that odd place where it seemed like something was removed or teleported “recently”? Yeah, that place, I have a feeling that I might find something there if I use the spell in that vicinity.

“Do you remember that place where you said that something was teleported from there?”

“Ah, yes I do. Are you saying that, whatever is there it might be hidden to us, just like the book was? Since we never entered that area and explored it, it might be a good place to start.”

“That’s correct and that’s exactly what we will be doing. Let’s do it like this, I will go to that area and I will use Dispel on it. While I do so I want you to look around for an area that looks out of place, as if something is missing on them.”

Well, with this solid plan in both of our minds and with an imaginary nod from Miss Pink Orb agreeing with my plan, we get moving towards our bright future. Anyway, a few seconds of walking and I’m right at the spot, exactly at the same place as before. From there I do the same thing I did previously, while of course keeping an eye on her as I do not want to accidently catch her with my spell. Once I’ve confirmed where she is and how big this area is, I begin doing my thing. I surround said area with a barrier and afterwards, I quickly and masterfully use Dispel. Not to my surprise but to my relief the same happens as before, revealing whatever was hidden to the naked eye and to the untrained Magical Eye and Magic Sense. I previously said that in this floor there wasn’t any piece of furniture that was still intact but with this, it easily proved me wrong as in front of me, I have a chair in perfect state and one that does seem quite fancy, especially compared to all the other ones in the library. Around it, more so behind it, there are two bookshelves but these are partially destroyed although they do have quite a few books on them. Ones that also seem to have suffered the same fate while only a few of them seem to have followed the same path as the chair. Either way, apart from this there is nothing else of interest but with a quick look towards where the other book is I can tell that, the barrier is slightly weaker, it seems to be weaker by 33% to be more precise. Hmm, this can mean that we only need to find two other areas although it seems that won’t take much as a fairy-like voice shouts by my name, trying her best to grab my attention to her.

  “Hero! I found one!”

I quickly look towards where this gracious voice is coming from, that in this case, it’s right behind me but close to the wall at the same time. Once I’ve confirmed where this beautiful eye-catching pink orb is, I get moving towards her in a normal pace, not quickly as I’m not that desperate for attention-wait, why the hell did I even think of that? An-Anyway! I walk up to her and what I see is something similar to where I was previously. This area is slightly bigger than the previous one but follows the same philosophy as that one. There is quite a bit of dust here but in some places said dust is less prevalent indicating the same as before. Well, the same will happen but first, I ask her to leave this area and to look for the last area as I did say to her that the barrier was “damaged” by exactly 33% possibly indicating that we only need to find three areas in total. She quickly understood my point of view and even agreed to my theory. Not only that, she also quickly left so that I could do my “job” in peace and without worrying that I might accidently “hit” her.

  “Dispel.”

  Magic noises!

Not much that I can say that I haven’t already said before. The same happens, I first surround this area with a barrier followed up with the usage of Dispel. Mere moments later, it reveals everything that was hidden to the naked eye and even to the magical one. The “layout” is different from previously, there are a few objects that still are intact, ones that were fortunate enough to not get it by the catastrophe. There are a few piles of books, all with several sizes but the biggest one reaches the height of my knees or in other words, there are quite a few books (you don’t say). Behind them, there is a single bookshelf, one that is perfectly intact and all around it, there are a few broken pieces of furniture, gently caressing the bookshelf but I cannot make out what they are from. I do have to say that the quality of what’s present here is quite different, they are of higher quality than what we have seen in the library, just like the previous area. Seriously, I just have picked up one of the books and from the touch itself I can already tell that these books are expensive, made with high quality materials, although I cannot say the same about the content inside of them. I’m not going to waste my time reading through them but, I cannot say that my curiosity is not feeling the need to be satisfied. Ah, I just noticed but, in the middle of the piles of books there is a small chandelier with a few candles. This chandelier has a majestic shape and look to it, coloured in a gold like colour although it actually might be made of gold itself… Maybe not? Most probably it is made of steel or something similar but with a coat of gold on top. Either way, this more than assures and confirms what I said before, about these areas being higher class than the entire library. Enough of this, I look towards where the sealed book is and from here, I can confirm that another 33% has been “damaged” meaning that, only one more place is missing.

  Step!

Since Miss Pink Orb hasn’t found anything yet, I get moving towards wherever fate wants me to go but before that, I stand up as I was crouching down because curiosity forced my body to do so, so that I could pick up one of the books. After that I slowly start to walk around this floor while carefully inspecting my surroundings but also avoiding the places that we have already been. Since we have gone through them and found nothing suspicious there really isn’t any reason to go through them once again. We “walked” for like, 2 or 3 minutes until fate decided that we were missing each other far too much, making the end of our journey to be exactly the same one. I’m not going to complain but, my search was closer to the railings while her search was closer to the walls. However, there is only so much space that we can “explore” around, meaning that we would eventually meet at a certain point. One that in this case it is the opposite wall to where the book is. It’s not at the corner as if it was, she would’ve found it first, something that did not happen. Yep, it’s right in the middle between where the railings are and the wall to my right to be precise. Enough of my usual yapping, I believe you can understand how happy I am to see her. I mean… I-I actually don’t know where to go with this.

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Seriously, sometimes my mind works in ways that I cannot fandom.

“This is it. If everything goes smoothly, once I’m done here, the seal should’ve disappeared.”

Ah! What a brilliant conclusion from yours truly brilliant mind! I mean, she can’t deny what I said sooooooo!

  “Hmm, hmm.”

Alright, you can show your happiness a little more than that. Just a tiny ittty bity quadity whatever itty more. If you don’t do so I might want to cry… Ahem! Anyway, before I go into another tangent on how I hoped she would be a little bit happier to know that we are finally this close to finishing this but, moving on! The same as the two other times happens, I tell her to back off a few meters, something that she already did and since I was thinking about god knows what, I missed her doing so. She’s actually quite silent as the orb casually floats backwards. Huh, the more you know, I guess. Once I’ve confirmed that she’s out of range, I quickly and masterfully surrounded the area with a magic circle. This time around I have a spectator so I have to be perfect. Said magic circle is exactly the same size as the area I deemed to be the correct one and mere moments later, the magic circle starts to shine brightly but not to the point that will consume your vision away from how bright it is, no, it’s a slight shine but one that is quite visible. From there the barrier is erected with the correct parameters that I specifically designed, ones that will prevent my magic spell from going past said barrier. Then, I raise my left hand upwards by a few centimetres, stopping once it reaches the height of half of my torso.

  “Dispel.”

  Magic noises!

Once again there is no need for an incantation, if it was my first time doing this then, yes, said incantation would be needed and the same can be said about the barrier although, in that case it’s a little bit different. What I mean is that, once the barrier is getting created, with enough magic control you can modify it, adding or and removing elements from it, ones that in this case, will make any magic energy present inside of the barrier not be able to physically get out. Everything that has not the characteristics of magic, they can freely get out. Now a good question, us humans, we have magic on our bodies and yet, we can freely get out without any type of consequences, how’s that possible? Well, while that is true it’s also not true at the same time, there are consequences but ones that do not affect us in a serious way. The natural magic energy that we are letting out into the world, said magic is actually unable to leave the barrier. The one inside of us is well protected by our physical body and therefore it’s not affected by the barrier properties. Think of this way, each passing second, we let out a specific quantity of magic energy towards the world, one that is related to both how much we have and the strength of it, while at the same time, the previous amount that we have let out is dispersed and consumed by the world. When we go through the barrier, the magic energy that is around us will hit it and stay inside but once we are outside, a second or so later more natural magic energy is produced per say and that’s why the “consequences” are pretty insignificant as nothing happens to the magic energy inside of us and that one, it is the most important. Everything that is outside of our body, whatever happens to it, has no effect on us whatsoever (in normal cases that is). Mere moments later my spell does its job perfectly, revealing whatever was hidden to us and yet again, we are met with somewhat the same sight as the previous times.

“I wasn’t expecting it to look like this.”

Silently, she floats towards me and once she was close enough, she said this with a rather “amazed” tone of voice and I believe the look on her face should match the tone. However, I do understand her amazement after all, I don’t think she has seen the previous areas and how they turned out to be so it does not surprise me to see her well, surprised.

“I can say the same, not only the furniture looks different from normal, they also are intact and in good shape. Most of it that is.”

It’s exactly as I said but this time around, we have a little bit of everything from the previous areas. There is a rather small table here, next to it a chair with a bookshelf at the back of it and with a few piles of books at top of the table. This table seems to be something akin to a coffee table but one for the expensive side as not only it seems to be made of high-quality wood (can’t say what type it is), it also has a piece of fabric on top of it, covering the table in a “square” area. The table is round and because of that she fabric only covers part of it rather than the entirety of it. There are two piles of books at the top of the table, one bigger than the other but they aren’t that big to be honest. Maybe the biggest one has 4-5 books? Either way, the chair seems to be more like an armchair rather than a normal chair, not only by the design of it but also by the materials that it is made of. Ones that of course are extremely high quality. The bookshelf behind it is just a little wider than the armchair itself but also follows the same design pattern as the coffee table, with pieces of fabric on the shelves but these ones do cover the entirety of them although there isn’t a single book present on them. Almost as if all the books are on the table but even then, I believe it wouldn’t even fully cover a single shelf let alone the five of them. Apart from this, nothing else can be said about this area so, with this in mind we get moving towards the book that was sealed.

After a few seconds of walking and floating, we arrive at the destination. Luckily for us, the barrier that was surrounding the book is indeed gone meaning that we have achieved what we wanted. Ah, this one took like 10 or so minutes so, she should have close to 20 minutes of magic energy meaning that, we have to be fast. However, maybe I should discuss this with her? Since she’s holding the Spirit Magic Stone I could probably “send” some magic energy to her but, doing that without any type of acknowledgement and consent makes me feel a little unsure, weird and straight out a damn creep. I mean, think with me, would you like to get shoved up your rear bottom with some magic?

  Ah wait! Wait! Wait!

  I mean, huh…Yeah… Uhm…

Sigh, why the hell did I even think of this in this weird way? What’s wrong with me!?

“Well, this is the last one, however, I do have to ask you something or say it in this case...”

  “Hmm, what is it?”

“Your magic energy is getting rather low. The spell you are consistently using so that you can move the orb around, it uses quite a bit of magic, doesn’t it?”

  “Eh? Yo-You can notice that? Impossible… I had a magic spell to hide… oh wait… it’s gone…”

Well, can’t say that I was expecting for her to be this surprised but, even though her timber got lower and lower as she spoke, I still was able to hear what she said (barely) and it seems I was right. She had some type of magic spell that was hiding her magic energy but for some reason, she didn’t notice that the effect was gone. Now this, of course, worries me by quite a bit. Think with me, if she had a spell to hide her magic energy that could mean that she's in a dangerous place. Otherwise, why would you go out of your way to hide yourself if you weren’t close to danger? It makes no sense, I think. Since I’m far too ignorant about her current situation and while I know that she’s here to help Kiana, what I have to say about is nothing more than theories created by my assumptions and understanding of the limited reality I have about her.
