From the carriage on the road just outside the count's estate, they can see that it's a large property surrounded by walls. Beyond those walls, they can see in the distance a hill with a manor on top.
They leave the carriage and Kristina warps it back to the mansion. After she returns, they all head to the estate's entrance and find 3 guards there.
While 2 of them appear to be doing their normal guard duties, by guarding the entrance gate, the other one seems to have been waiting for someone's arrival.
"Hello, I'm Gaylord." He introduces himself as he approaches them. Are you kidding me, that's his name? It will be a "try not to laugh" challenge every time I hear it.
"We are adventures, we came here for the goblin quest." Lutz answers.
"Then you are the ones I have been waiting for. Cheer Guard, right?"
"Yeah, not just us though, we invited another party to come with us."
"Really?"
The masked woman comes forward, accompanied by a masked man and a maid. "Greetings, my name is Kristina Sanguis and these two are my party members, Ernst and Rose."
"Nice to meet you..." Gaylord's eyes look at the two hooded figures with suspicion.
"Oh, I apologize for mine and Ernst's attires, our skins are quite sensitive to the sun." I stole my butler's unintentional joke from when we first entered Seestadt, I'm sure he won't mind.
Lutz lets out a chuckle. "She means the two of them are vampires," he spells it out. Hey! That's no fun!
"What?!" Gaylord shouts as he takes a step back and pulls his sword out.
"There's no need to worry, I assure you that I'm a friendly vampire," Kristina says putting her hands up. Calm.
He takes a deep breath and sheathes his sword. "Alright, I might have precipitated myself..."
Calm is really effective! Although, it does raise some moral questions since I'm altering someone's mind state without their consent... Anyways-
Kristina pulls out her Adventurer's Guild identification card from one of her pockets. "This is what I look like behind the mask, if it makes you more at ease," she shows him her face on the card.
Ernst pulls his card out too. "And this is how I look," he says showing his face on the card.
"You are already able to see my face, but here's my card anyways," Rose shows her card as well.
"Okay, I guess I can trust you," Gaylord says, as they all store away their cards. "What's your party's name?"
"We hadn't thought about that yet," _after all, we only registered to get free passage into any city using the guild ID... "Grand Fang? Does that sound good?" Vampires have fangs and I like Grand Strategy.
"It sounds great my lady," Ernst affirms.
"I agree," Rose concurs.
"So, now that that's dealt with, do you know where the camps is?" Lutz asks the guard.
"Yes, I was actually the one that spotted it."
"Alright, show us the way, Gaylord!" I'm so glad I'm wearing this mask, because my face makes it obvious how hard I'm holding my laughter right now!
Gaylord stops walking and the adventurers following him do so as well. "This is it." He says.
They find themselves before a large clearing amidst the woods, containing many makeshift houses made of wood and dirt. Many goblins walk about in it, eating, working and socializing.
This is not a camp, this is a town! It's definitely bigger than any of the adventurers were expecting, there at least a few hundred here.
They haven't entered the clearing yet, so goblins haven't noticed their presence for now.
"If the plan is to get then to hire me as security, perhaps I should make a demonstration of my skills here?" Kristina suggests.
"That would be a great idea, my lady," Ernst responds. My servants glaze me way too much...
"Gaylord, pay attention, your master might ask about my performance later." Kristina says as she starts walking forward.
"Huh?" Is the only response the guard is able to get out before-
Vampiric Shield. A semi-transparent dome made of red light appears encompassing the whole goblin camp, but leaving out the people that came to deal with it. I could have used basically any kind of shield, but I really like the aesthetics of this one.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
Warp, Kristina suddenly appears inside the shield. "Don't touch it, it steals the vitality of whoever it comes in physical contact with," she warns.
Inventory, she quickly goes to the favorited items tab and gets herself two shortswords, wielding one in each hand. Inventory, the menu closes. "Enjoy the show!" She shouts.
A group of goblins rushes towards Kristina. However, faster than a normal human would be able to perceive, their heads are sent flying and her swords are bloodied.
Store, her shortswords disappear, returning to her inventory. In-game it would have opened a menu which I would have had to select which items I wanted to store, here I just had to want the shortswords to be stored.
Another group of goblins appears, also rushing towards her.
She points her right index finger to the left of them and casts Blood Ray. Just a few centimeters in front of her finger, a small ball of blood appears and from it a narrow beam of blood sprays forth at a incredible velocity. Just by moving her hand from left to right, that group is all killed.
The beam stops as soon as the last goblin drops dead. I could afford to be wasteful of mana, but that actually also consumes blood stored in my inventory...
Another group of goblins appears.
Decay, they all let out screams of pain as they age rapidly, quickly becoming dead shriveled husks.
Another group.
Crush, an invisible force squashes them as if they were bugs.
Another.
Fireball, a ball of fire appears and hits them, some die instantly from the impact while the others burn to death.
After a few more groups, she decides to cast Create Golem, rocks and dirt float towards a point in front of Kristina and form into an humanoid shape.
"Go forth, kill any goblins you see," she orders.
"Wait!" A huge goblin screams. He looks like he might be the goblin chief.
Goblins talk here? That's interesting... In Vera goblins weren't playable and there were no goblin NPCs that you could talk with, they were just mobs. Well, I guess it was never explicitly stated in the game that they couldn't talk...
"Stop!" Kristina stops the golem just before it hits the goblin.
"I'm chief of village." Called it! "I want make deal." It seems his language isn't very refined, but either way...
"What are you proposing exactly?" I'm at least curious to hear what he wants.
"You don't kill us, we work for you?"
Goblins grow quickly, it would be way faster to build an army of goblins than of humans. However, it could cause issues since we are in a human kingdom, so my choice is clear.
"No," she answers.
"Wha-"
Now, for my final attack, Warp, she appears just outside her shield which starts to quickly shrink crushing everything in its way. It keeps shrinking until all inside it is compressed into a mass of dirt, blood, rocks, flesh and wood, at which point the shield disappears.
The goblins here, they are sentient beings, not just mobs in a game... So, why... don't I care? Why do I not feel any remorse for killing them?
"Perfectly done, my lady," Ernst praises her.
"You looked so scary... In a cool way!" Rose comments.
"Man, that was brutal! We wouldn't normally kill all of them, only enough to scare them into moving somewhere else," Lutz says. Wouldn't that just move the issue somewhere else?
"Keeping us out of the shield was mean," Hilda complains.
"You may keep the monetary reward, I do not care about it," Kristina retorts.
"Not what I'm talking about! I wanted some fun!"
"If a fight is what you want, I would be happy to provide!" she says with a smirk.
"That wouldn't be fair, I wouldn't stand a chance!"
"You aren't wrong..."
"He-hey... Do you need any healing?" Alina shily asks Kristina.
"No, but than-" Before she could finish her sentence, she notices an arrow flying towards Alina's head.
Kristina, at an incredible speed, moves behind Alina and grabs the arrow. She throws it back to where it came from, hitting a goblin archer hidden between the trees. Of course not all goblins would be at the village, I should have thought of that!
Find Monster, the positions of all goblins still alive within a few kilometers appear in her mind. Smite, despite clear skies, many lightnings come down, each one striking a goblin.
In the game I would have had added modifiers to the spells "Find Monster - Goblin" and "Target - Monster - Goblin: Multi - All Targets: Smite". In here all I needed was to want find goblins when I cast Find Monster and to want all of the goblins to be struck down when I cast Smite, this is way more convenient!
Lutz rushes towards Kristina and kneels before her.
"What are you doing?" She asks.
"You save my sister, thank you so much!" He answers. Oh, yeah... Now that I think about it, an arrow to the head could have been quite fatal... Wait a second-
"Alina's your sister?"
"Yes, she's my twin actually!"
Well, they look pretty similar, same hair and same eyes, but... "Why is she so short...?"
"Because she refused to drink milk while growing up."
"Brother! Stop embarrassing me!"
When they arrive back, waiting for them there is a frail-looking man that looks to be of the intellectual predilection.
"Hello, I'm Guillaume, Count Weiz's steward, " he says before turning to Gaylord. "Did they do it?"
The guard answers with just a simple nod, that's all that the steward needs.
"Here is your reward," Guillaume says, taking a coin pouch from his pocket. "We thank you for your service."
"You are welcome," Lutz answers in almost sarcastic tone, stepping forward and taking the money.
"Would you like me to warp you back to the town now?" Kristina asks.
"Sure," he answers.
Warp.
Cheer Guard and Kristina appear inside the town, just outside of the Adventurer's Guild.
Alina approaches Kristina. "Miss Sanguis... You did everything by yourself, yet you still chose to let us keep the reward... you even saved my life, I don't know how to thank you enough..." she says, tearing up.
"No problem, money is something I truly don't lack," Kristina answers.
Alina returns to her group and they all wave goodbye to the kind vampire.
"May we meet again," Warp.
Kristina appears back at the estate's entrance and immediately walks towards Guillaume.
"We would like to speak with the count," she states.
"For what reason?" He asks.
"We would like to offer our protection on a more permanent basis."
"I'm sorry to tell you this, but the count already has more than enough retainers."
"Guill, trust me, you will regret it if you don't let her meet with the count," Gaylord interjects.
"Alright, Gay, if you insist..." Guillaume gives in. "Open the gates!" He orders the guards.
