Volume 2 chapter 91

  **Volume 2: Upper World**

  **Chapter 91: Framework**

February 10th, 5:41 p.m. – Vein Clan House (Courtyard Ruins)

  Jason was already gone.

One second he was standing there grinning — the next, the air ripped around Kira in circles. Afterimages followed him like smoke trails — dozens of Jasons blurring at 50 fps, then 100, then more — a ring of yellow ghosts spinning tight around her. She couldn’t track the real one. Every direction looked like him.

Kira swung — katana flashing red threads — cut through one afterimage. It dissolved like smoke. Nothing. She spun — tried again — blade whistling — another ghost vanished. Empty air.

Jason’s real fist slammed into her stomach.

The impact folded her in half — air forced out in a wet gasp — ribs screaming. She staggered — blood in her mouth — but Jason was already moving.

Punch after punch — fast, relentless — chest, jaw, side, ribs again. Each hit landed like a hammer — she blocked some, took others — body jerking with every impact. Blood sprayed from her lip, her nose. She tried to counter — raised her blade — but Jason ducked, grabbed her wrist, twisted.

Kira turned into glass — one frozen frame — body shimmering transparent for half a second.

Jason laughed — low, mocking — and built up more afterimages. Hundreds now — yellow ghosts stacking, multiplying — 1,000,000 frames per second.

  He dashed.

A yellow comet — past the glass statue of Kira — wind howling — afterimages trailing like comet tails. Kira’s body shattered the illusion — flew backward — crashed through the first mountain ridge. Stone exploded outward. She kept going — second mountain — third — each one breaking fully, rock avalanching down slopes. Eighteen mountains cracked and crumbled before she finally hit the ground — rolling through dirt and debris — body smoking, blood trailing behind her.

Jason slowed — back to normal speed — sandals crunching gravel. He cracked his neck, fixed his hair with one hand.

“A heart?” he said — voice casual. “Don’t you know Sky already had it? Ready to kill him, Jane.”

Kira pushed up — slow — one arm hanging limp, ribs broken on the left side, blood dripping from her mouth. She coughed — wet — and stood anyway.

Jason walked forward — slow — stepped on her hand — ground her palm into the dirt under his sandal. Then kicked her face — boot snapping her head sideways — blood spraying in an arc.

She sliced — katana flashing — cut his fingertips clean off.

Jason flexed — hand healed in seconds — skin knitting smooth.

He dashed back — hands tight together, bent down low.

  **Realm: The Framework.**

The courtyard warped — air thickening — frames locking into place. Everything slowed — wind froze mid-gust, dust hung suspended, distant birds stopped flapping. Jason’s aura exploded — orange-black — speed boosting higher.

He explained — voice calm, almost bored — while the realm held.

“The Framework enforces absolute frame control. I decide the fps. You move at whatever rate I allow — 1 fps, 0.1 fps, nothing. My speed scales infinitely inside. Every afterimage is real until I say it isn’t. You can’t count frames — you can’t even think fast enough to try.”

Kira tried — eyes darting — counting — but the numbers blurred. Her perception lagged — thoughts dragging — like swimming through mud.

  She closed her eyes.

The chapter ended with Jason standing over her — grin wide — orange-black aura rolling off him like fire.

  “Get ready to die, Kira.”
