Stars, Planets, and Stations

  Stars, Planets, and Stations (A-Z)

Stellar Fleet will meet Quaani's Stellar Fleet Pathfinder Task Group one year after departing the Kinbriar System. (c0133)

Acheron is a brown dwarf, a star that never properly ignited. The system is equally barren, with three small planets the size of Mercury and a mixed field of asteroids and comets twelve AU from the dwarf star. By the time we complete the Macro-Ferry, there will probably be no orbiting bodies but our own. (c0146)

No one is more desperate for those STCs than Belacane. Still, rather than trading for materials, void ships, and data as originally intended, they use the chance to gain enough support to put House Isengrund in charge of Belacane unofficially. Then use their resources to resettle one of the lost Forge Worlds in the Koronus Expanse. There are two options, Aubray's Anvil, among the Ragged Worlds, spinward of Winterscales Realm, and Raakata, one of the Heathen Stars, spinward of Cobalt. The second option is probably our best, as it helps avoid conflict with House Winterscale. The chance to reclaim a Forge World would make Belacane look really good. With the return of their STCs, the mission that they sent Distant Sun on in the first place, Belacane could restore their falling status within the Imperium and, more importantly, the Mechanicus. We would get a strong ally within the Calixis Sector and appear beyond reproach for asking for help to resettle a Forge World as a reward for an STC, obscuring how strong our house influence on the world actually is. (c0171)

Chorda is a hidden Relic World in Jericho Reach. It is not well known, and you will not find it on any map or document, as it is recorded only by its name, classification, and purpose. One can only describe it to others by speaking. It is most disturbing to see one's ink run upon a page, or letters scramble on a dataslate, even as you type them. A Relic World is a world with an active, independent relic from the Dark Age of Technology, or Xenos origin, that is uncontrollable by Humanity or any other faction. The Warp Gates to Jericho Reach would be an example of an uncontrollable, active relic. Chorda is a gas giant in the habitable zone of its star. A Void Shield and a Gellar Shield of immense strength surround the whole planet. (c0215)

There are no other planets, moons, or asteroids in the system. Even the Oort Cloud is missing. All have likely been collected and turned into an array of defensive satellites that would make an Ork blush, as well as thousands of domed, floating islands the size of continents, or even whole worlds. Chorda is a living repository of plants from around the galaxy. The intelligence controlling the world, believed to be a rogue STC or AI of some kind, will provide the seeds and other samples of plants required to terraform a world or restore a damaged biosphere, along with its knowledge of the provided plants and how to use them, but this is not a free service. One must offer resources to trade, and although it is not possible to communicate with the controlling intelligence, there is a station on the edge of the system where one can dock. The station is minimal, with no services of any kind save for a single cogitator. When one uploads a list of resources and data to the cogitator, they will receive several points with which to trade. The controlling intelligence is more generous if you include a well-thought-out plan for how you intend to use its samples and data. It also values flora and symbiotic fauna, ensuring that it does not exhaust its resources. (c0215)

STCs sometimes work, but usually have a value of zero. The same goes for modified organisms. There are also some hidden criteria we are unaware of. Some people, Chorda refuses to trade with, and we are unsure why. Attempting to deceive the machine or damaging the station and cogitator will result in a disproportionate response that matches the nature of the offence. It is not always clear what sets it off, either, so if you do visit, be forthright and respectful. It is also expensive, so don't bother turning up with anything less than a Universe Class vessel stuffed with refined elements—preferably rare ones. (c0215)

Seven planets orbit a red dwarf. Cobalt II and Cobalt VI are gas giants. Cobalt IV is an ice world and the primary habitable world ruled by Governor Mattius Stigstaff. The remaining planets are rocky and barren. There are two asteroid belts, one between Cobalt I and II, and another between V and VI. An extensive Kuiper Belt floats between VI and VII. Cobalt VII is the final planet in the system, a mineral-rich rocky world with no atmosphere. (c0154)

Bridig Isengrurd negotiates a trade agreement for mineral rights from gas giant Cobalt VI and ownership of the moon known as Haddon's Throne. (c0156)

Experimenting with arcanotech is always risky, but there's enough data here to begin such a project without accidentally breaching the Materium or creating a legion of demon-host Servitors. (c0206)

Last and perhaps most irritating is the knowledge that much of this data, especially the drugs, is Human in origin; these two Haemonculi know the current location of the Panacea STC. Asdrubael Vect, tyrannical leader of the Dark Eldar, possesses this vital machine and has lent it to the Haemonculi to encourage their cooperation in his endeavours. (c0206)

The Panacea STC is a fully functional, adaptive STC that, according to rumour, can cure any mundane disease and possibly Warp-based ones as well. Any faction that possesses it has a distinct advantage in countering the forces of Nurgle, the Chaos God of disease, pestilence, and decay. It would likely help against the Tyranids as well. Not only that, but with the Panacea STC, I could probably safely fabricate and use Universal Medicine. (c0206)

There is no guarantee that the Panacea STC is still functional or uncorrupted at this point, but it is worth risking an invasion of Commorragh. From the memories I have stolen, I am aware that the STC is secure enough that nothing short of conquering the city even has a chance of acquiring it. (c0206)

No matter how much I might desire it, I do not have the forces to assault billions of Drukhari, and their myriad slaves and horrors, in their lair. The only way I could realistically gather and control enough forces to attempt such an endeavour would be to embrace the identity of an Imperial Saint and go full-on chunni cyber angel. (c0206)

Furibundus, Footfall's star, floats within the projection in 'real time', or rather 4.436 (light) hours ago. Huge plumes of mass ejection grow and shrink from the star, forming an ever-expanding cloud of gas that creates a light haze throughout the system.

Footfall is exactly two AU from the star, a mass of rock and plasteel joined by vaulted bridges and thick chains. Overseeing the mess of decaying structures and pugnacious souls is a macro statue of the God Emperor of Mankind, the size of a battleship.

Also orbiting the star is the Mechanicus outpost Altar-Templum-Calixis-Ext-17. In a typical secretive fashion, all accounts I've read of the station fail to mention what they do and the travellers were refused access. I'd love to find out, but unless the occupants give me a reason to, the mystery will have to wait another day. (c0262)

The new space station is under construction out in the Kuiper belt near the Mandeville point. (c0097)

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

It will be a shipyard, a navy fortress, and an astropathic relay for the Marwolv system. (c0098)

Named after the Celtic god of blacksmithing and architecture. It will be a well-armed and armoured structure, one hundred kilometres in length and twelve kilometres wide, mostly built from ferrocrete made from refinery slag. Not only will Goibhniu Yards build new vessels like the Adder and others of greater size, but it will also nurture millions of people. (c0101)

A new Stellar Fleet outpost, Haddon's Throne, is a frozen wasteland and is rich in hydrocarbons, as well as being next to a gas giant, Cobalt VI. It offers a unique opportunity to store vast quantities of promethium, hydrogen, and other gases at low cost. We can let the environment freeze everything for free. That means minimal evaporation, with a negligible risk of explosions or fires. We would only reliquify what we are using and could potentially store most fuels and gases in frozen blocks without even needing to build containers. Not only that, because of our new understanding of Tithes and how they play into the carbon trade, Haddon's Throne represents a rare opportunity to export huge quantities of algae and other hydroponic goods, as well as fertilisers, chemicals, and plastics. With all the wraithbone hulls we captured, we can also produce the exotic fuel required for Warp drives as well, a particularly scarce resource in the Koronus Expanse. Warp fuel would serve as our lure, attracting other merchants to trade for a variety of goods. Sustainability of Warp fuel production can come from our Moth-Class vessels. (c0154, c0170)

"The Necrons are the Kinbriar Dynasty. The Kinbriar are a small Dynasty, but compared to the Stellar Fleet, they are a significant threat. The Yme-Loc Craftworld, to which the Eldar fleet belongs, attacked with overwhelming numbers. They are renowned weaponsmiths, yet still took a horrific beating." per Warlock Ylien (c0110)

Gate found: "A Necron Dolmen Gate. These are rare Necron structures that hack into the Eldar Webway, letting Necrons hijack Eldar FTL routes. While the Webway does attempt to cut off intrusions, it is not always successful. When vessels are available and a gate's location is known, Craftworlds will attempt to destroy them. It seems they were partially successful, though at great cost." per Warlock Ylien (c0110)

Location and arrival date per the machine spirit Sadako: "++Iron Crane is at the Rimward edge of the Cinerus Maleficum region within the Koronus Expanse. The date is between 7,900 and 8,200 in the forty-first millennium. This vessel has regressed approximately 250 years.++" (c0111)

"Second, set a course for the fifth world. We'll call it Kinbriar V for now." - Aldrich (c0111)

Aims at Kinbriar V: The destruction of all Necron facilities, while the Stellar Fleet will offer a ceasefire with the Eldar. (c0111) --- Kinbriar V is destroyed by Aldrich's lightspeed impacting Fireship. The Emperor claims a C'tan from the Tesseract Vault. (c0123, c0135)

An Imperial mining station, almost lost to time, drifting from its orbit. Their mining barges have been reluctant to risk their hulls or time correcting the drift, fearing they will fall behind on their quotas. Managed by Factor Vingh Belomor, assistant to Enginseer Prime, Anterhovo Taybax, the primary Mechanicus authority on RO-R0KST4R-TPK, or as the locals call it, 'Lickspittle'. The station is a hollowed-out asteroid, approximately 2 kilometres long and 300 meters wide, with an odd bulge at one end. Between its odd shape and the crudely stapled metal structures on its surface, the mining station looks like an old boot. (c0138 - c0139)

Aldrich arrived X073.018.M42 (January 27, 41019). Discovered in X330.559.M33 (May 1, 32560) by the Mechanicus. The last visitor was X667.022.M40 (September 1, 39023). Marwolv is a feudal world with a medieval level of industry. (c0033) --- Marwolv produces one psyker in a hundred births. (c0034) --- Hypothesis: Marwolv was a game reserve, populated with hardened terrestrial wildlife for entertainment, during the Age of Expansion. With technology kept to a minimum for an 'authentic' experience, Marwolv lost its technology during the Age of Strife until it was rediscovered during an undocumented expedition to the Koronus Expanse, only to be lost again in the millennia that followed. (c0043) --- The Tau ritual that briefly summoned a giant bird, likely an avatar of Tzeentch, flattened a range of mountains into great piles of jagged rock and tossed three Ork Roks into the system. (c0067) --- Hive Spire construction begins, Agri-Spire is the first. (c0097)

As a legacy of Marwolv, one child in every hundred thousand is born as a psyker who becomes a Psy-Errant. (c0209)

Near the Rifts of Hecaton, like before, but farther coreward. Originally discovered by the Disciples of Thule, followers of Arch-Magos Paracelsus Thule, who pursue the eternal Quest for Knowledge in the field. I have no data on others who have visited Melbethe. The planet is artificial; more than half of it is vacuum, with branching, winding coils of dark stone. The planet resembles a tangled thicket: an abyssal maze of boggling proportions. One section contains imperial structures transmitting garbled data, where someone has shot a lance into the plane. I order Aruna to discard it, rather than record it. Reporting the system to the Inquisition is necessary. Recovery of Erudition's Howl, an abandoned Cobra-Class Destroyer, will add to my fleet. (c0032)

Rogue planet (c0025) mined for resources to repair the Distant Sun. (c0028)

SR-651's main star is a red giant. There are no planets in the system, after a shattering by an unknown event aeons ago. Now, massive debris fields, ranging from tens to thousands of kilometres across, swirl around the system in vast eddies of somewhat unpredictable gravitational anomalies in a cosmic display that is as beautiful as it is deadly. (c0183)

Sensor readings of the Receiving Yards, a spindle-shaped, thirty-kilometre-long void station, and the Breaking Yards, a teaming mass of chained asteroids and broken ships three and a half thousand kilometres across, reveal nothing of the ancient system's past. (c0183)

There are thousands of dead void ships here and at least two dozen active ones. I spot thirty-seven hollowed-out asteroids strapped with salvaged macro-cannon batteries, hangars, and other defences, and I would be shocked if that was even half of it. (c0183)

Orks from the 'Undred 'Undred Teef are known to raid the SR-651 from time to time, chasing all dat sweet scrap n' gubbins, but they've never taken it, or even done much damage. This place would be a nightmare to assault. So long as one of the frequent Warp storms doesn't get in the way, ST-651 can call every single ship in the Koronus Expanse for reinforcements, who are all going to rush to defend the only shipyard this side of the Maw, even if it is only semi-functional. (c0183)

We try hiring a local pilot to take us through the debris field. Still, he freaks out when he sees all the plants on Iron Crane and refuses to walk through the corridors to the bridge, so we have to spend an extra two weeks observing the gravity flows before making the voyage to the Receiving Yards with our own skills. (c0183)

Dying Light fills with a distinct hum, and for a brief moment, all the grav plates turn off so as not to be overwhelmed by the titanic pull leaking from the nova cannon. Many ill-maintained and delicate systems within the vessel are pulled apart by the sudden change in gravity, disconnecting rusting lights, loose panels, and feeble sensors. I feel like I am falling towards the prow, though my magboots keep me steady. At the peak of the distortion, I detect six gravities acting upon me. (c0198)

The nova cannon fires and rips through the side of the crater, hiding Dying Light. The shell covers the same distance it took us three days to travel in a handful of seconds, then ploughs into the Receiving Yards, shattering the barely powered void shield, and detonates right in the centre of the thirty-kilometre structure. (c0198)

A ring of debris and lightning shoots out of the structure, slicing it in half and spreading over fifteen thousand kilometres before it dissipates. Shrapnel, from tiny shards to great chunks the size of a Sword-Class frigate, streaks and tumbles out into the void where they are swept up in the strange gravity of the system, disrupting traffic and damaging several vessels. (c0198)

An unknown portion of a small Federation Era space station, where Aldrich awoke. (c0001)
