Chapter 89: A Whimsical-Race with a Long Tail

A step. Then another. Then another.

A volley of steps toward the gates of the Golden Cathedral; Paris standing in front of the gates. His posture sharpened as he puffed out his chest, smiling.

“Rebels! Have you come to hand yourselves in?”

“The world ended and you act like this?” Kanae scoffed, he pointed his right index toward the sky.

  The Green Blanket

Kanae, Anubis and Tagma stood in front whilst Lucius and Abriam stood behind.

“Oh yes.” Paris’ smile growing, “I forgot about that, seems with the way the sky is— there’ll be no more day and night! Ahaha!”

“Move aside so we can get past.” Tagma sighed, his eyes staring at the ground.

Paris stood still for a moment.

Then repeatedly shook his head whilst standing in place— his head movements being so fast it created an afterimage.

  “No!

I don’t want to— you either hand yourselves in or… I kill you eac—”

“Brother…” Lucius spoke gently. He walked past Anubis, staring into Paris’ eyes as his footsteps echoed on the floor.

His eyes held no light, his smile faded. Evaporated, as he stared back at Lucius. Then a frown drew in the lines.

  “Oh.

  It’s you.”

Lucius blinked, “I haven’t seen you in a while, Paris Guildford.”

“Brother by blood but not by soul Lucius. Kid ‘Lucifer’.”

“Then act as the fool prince Loki you prized yourself as!”

  “Shut…

  your…

  mouth.”

The Saint’s right eye twitched, a layer of skin underneath his eye bubbling as it concentrated on Lucius. His frown forming into a grimace whilst his teeth glared, virgin molars.

  “You dare antagonize Pride?”

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

“Lucifer see your reflection and fall like the rest of the Balataries.”

“I’ve never seen someone so hateful of their own kind, what a shame. What would Mother and Father think?”

“If you want them.” Paris clamoured, pointing at the right-hand side where a mansion stood. “Go to the Guildford Estate!”

“So much hatred within that tiny, tiny, pathetic and stupid heart of yours. If so insecure then you should move when told to. Or do you like being scolded you masochistic freak.” Lucius sniggered, he lifted his left hand on the silver barriers. CRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

  The gate broke.

“Let’s get moving, main event isn’t an undercard.” Lucius barged past Paris, not looking him in the eye deliberately as he motioned for the others to follow.

  The volley of steps….

The doors opened and closed, leaving the Guildford behind in the dust.

He stared at the grey pavement. It didn’t change.

  “Lu— LUCIFER! LUCIFER! LUCIFER!

  lucifer!”

As soon as the Rebels stepped through the door, they felt a shift. A disturbance, a change.

The first thing they saw when they walked in was an entranceway spanning multiple directions.

  Within an instant.

Kanae’s throat closed. The throne wasn’t a throne at all but a living knot of sinew flexing in the still air, smelling faintly of salt and old ink. Veiny muscles spanning upward.

“Did anyone catch that or was that only me?” Kanae Shota looked around the room.

  Nobody nodded.

But then he caught a glimpse of where God was.

The God of Floria was standing at the windows, they were open breathing air. But there was no breeze, no touch and no feel.

“Is this Thidos?” Abriam blurted, “Didn’t think we’d see the God of Floria so soon..”

“No. I am not Thidos anymore. I am no God to protect mankind. Just an individual who acted too late.”

The man turned around holding a Hennessey glass.

Dressed in a green tunic, pointy purple boots was…

“Xeras Timpleson! One of the Trinity which was chosen by Ezekiel Levy in Year Zero!” Anubis roared.

  His voice echoing throughout infinity.

“Yes. I am Xeras Timpleson— do you wish for my head or advice?”

“Big bad boss of Floria now sees the comeuppance of the bad shit he’s done.” Kanae snickered, “Guess divinity doesn’t come with foresight.”

“But I did no such bad actions.”

  “Invalian Genocide.” Anubis’s brow raised.

“You know some things you shouldn’t, Anubis Canai!

Remember! I am only God in POWER now.”

“Do you wish to combat me?” Anubis was about to walk to Xeras but was paused by a beefy hand on his shoulder.

“Anubis! Do not fight GOD!” Tagma spoke, “Xeras, we wish to speak with the Angels and Saints.”

“He only is God in Power! This is a fraud, an amateur who let his people die! Due to his own ignorance and stupidity! I hate him!”

“You wish to have help fighting Samiel? You’ll need all you can get, especially from Ostra.” Xeras took a sip from the crystallised glass.

“Are you going to be on your ass or are you going to help?” Lucius spat.

“I’ll help when the time comes— but the time has clearly not came yet since.” The ‘God of Mutation’ turned back to the window. “The war hasn’t reached its climax yet. Samiel will be the victor.”

“What cryptic shit is that, how will that help?” Anubis grinned, continuing his walk.

“Samiel has no morality. I have lost my people and Medea.

  Actually, I change my prediction.”

“Are you honestly joking?” Anubis paused, curling his right hand into a ball.

“I believe that Medea will win this war. He has strength but also brains.”

“Do you even understand what is going on anymore? It seems like you lost your mind.” Kanae sighed.

  “Perhaps.”

  “Perhaps?

It’s a life or death scenario for the entire world and all this diety could muster is a perhaps? He stands at the window, just staring like a fool. Atleast he acknowledges he’s a failure— or does he?

  This bastard.

  This creature.

This abomination! I hate Xeras Timpleson. I hate Thidos! He’s never done anything well— just indoctrinate the masses with his cultistic beliefs. Approve a genocide for no apparent reason?

  He is vile!”

A group of individuals walked into the room. The remaining: Angels, Seraphims and Saints excluding Paris.

“I meant every word I said!” Zachariah grit his teeth, “You disappoint me.”
