Chapter 32 – Breaking Limits

  A month of recovery passed.

The powerful release of magic that Kael had unleashed had torn the magical nerve points throughout his entire body, forcing him into absolute rest. Based on the information the system managed to gather during that period, it was discovered that Kael remained in a coma for another full month… an entire month filled with tension, exhaustion, and deep uncertainty.

During that time, Lord Garbard took charge of maintaining stability and order. However, the hatred Caria felt toward Freya in those days was impossible to contain… her friend had nearly caused the death of her son.

The tension inside the mansion was almost tangible.

Tana and Caria never left the room, watching over an exhausted and battered Kael, still unconscious. There were days when his fever rose without warning, and his body weakened at an alarming rate.

After Kael awakened and began his gradual recovery, the atmosphere in the mansion slowly started to change. Each day, he received new visitors: soldiers, maids, and guards… but without a doubt, the most important ones were the children. Every day, he received stories and toys from Lysandra, Ronan, and Althea.

The most important step now was to rebuild the broken bonds.

During one of those recovery weeks, Kael managed to take part in the most delicate confrontation of all: Caria and Freya. Both stood on opposite sides of the bed; Caria was visibly furious, while Freya looked drained, without strength.

—Mom! —Kael shouted—. Look at me!

Caria looked at him with clear displeasure.

—I understand your pain and your anger over the results… —Kael continued—, but no one knew what would happen. No one had ever spoken to a reincarnated person who kept memories of their past life. If I can’t blame my teacher Freya, then you shouldn’t either. You are her friend… you protected each other for years during the war. My teacher would never do something with the intention of hurting me.

Caria lowered her gaze, shaken, filled with helplessness and frustration. She was unable to respond.

  —Teacher! —Kael called out loudly.

Freya looked at him with a sad and deeply worried expression.

—Teacher… you were looking for answers to better understand the situation and help me. No one knew what could happen… and even so, I don’t blame you for what happened. No one should, because I was the one affected. If it weren’t for you, I probably would have died trying even more dangerous tests, without understanding the basics or having the necessary knowledge. You worried about me at all times and guided me forward… and I am eternally grateful. I am very happy that you are my teacher.

Upon hearing those words, Freya suffered a strong emotional impact. She could not hold back her tears; the guilt still weighed too heavily on her.

Seeing this, Caria finally managed to understand the situation from another perspective. Things had gone wrong… but unintentionally. No one wanted to cause harm.

  —Freya… —Caria said.

Freya looked at her, completely broken.

—Kael is right… I can’t blame you for this. No one knew what would happen. I am willing to leave what happened behind… but I will apply the same method I used with Kael. If you cause an event like this again, then there will be consequences. Before doing anything, please discuss it in detail with us, and we will evaluate what to do.

—When I return to the capital… —Freya replied with a broken voice— I swear I will spend every day in the National Library, studying possible scenarios like this, so I never make a similar mistake again. You are my first disciple… I never imagined that teaching would be so intense… or so important.

Little by little, their looks and expressions began to heal, slowly recovering the trust that once existed.

—Well… —Kael said with a mischievous smile—, since you’re on good terms again, you could celebrate it with a kiss… like last time, hehe…

—You little demon! —Caria and Freya shouted at the same time.

From both sides of the bed, Kael’s cheeks were grabbed by his mother and his teacher, receiving merciless kisses.

Well then, that was the account of what happened during the two months following Kael’s collapse…

That new day felt different, filled with a renewed energy. The day began with the morning training, as usual.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

—CHIEF MONKEY! ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THIS? —several soldiers shouted, clearly alarmed.

—That’s right, my dear monkeys, I already feel fine… —Kael replied with complete confidence.

Ken crossed his arms and raised his voice with enthusiasm.

—Well, the chief monkey has spoken. Let the training begin, ladies!

—Follow the chief monkey! —the soldiers shouted—. Come on, little Ronan, don’t fall behind!

—I want to be a monkey too! —Ronan exclaimed, jumping with excitement.

That way, Kael completed his exercises and studies for the day.

However, there was something he could no longer postpone. During his recovery, he had lost valuable time, and the Hygiene Plan had to begin as soon as possible.

While he was resting, Kael had asked Enta to gather certain specific materials. Now, several loaded carts were piled up in the castle courtyard.

Enta, exhausted but proud, had managed to obtain everything requested:

  piles of sand,

  wet clay,

and, above all, large blocks of limestone.

With that, Kael finally had what he needed to begin the next stage: improving his ability to synthesize materials and laying the foundations for a project no one in that world knew about.

The soldiers, following the young lord’s orders, began breaking the limestone into fragments and loading it into an improvised furnace. Freya watched from the shade of the courtyard, alert to any risk.

  Kael raised his voice firmly.

—Light the fire! We need the highest temperature you can reach!

For hours, the limestone burned until it turned white like bone.

When it was ready, Kael stepped closer, placed his hand over the still-hot fragments, and applied a thin layer of magic to purify them, separating the impurities the fire had failed to remove.

—Now it’s ready… —he murmured—. This is real quicklime.

With the materials prepared, the process began.

Sand, clay, water, and purified lime were mixed in the courtyard by the hands of soldiers who had no idea what they were making.

Kael knelt down, placed both hands over the wet mixture, and allowed his magic to flow carefully, under Freya’s strict supervision.

He was not creating concrete with magic…

he was only forcing the particles to bind evenly, removing bubbles, impurities, and microscopic flaws.

Little by little, the mass became denser, more uniform, and far stronger than any mortar the castle had ever known.

  —Perfect… now we shape it.

With the help of the soldiers, Kael used wooden molds to form the first sections of sewer ducts, thick and symmetrical. Freya watched in silence; it was as if the child were shaping living stone.

Hours later, the first pieces were set aside, ready for the curing process.

For the first time in Cautares’ history, custom-made concrete pipes existed.

And Kael was just getting started.

—We did it, my monkeys! —Kael shouted with euphoria.

—Yes, we did it! —the soldiers replied—. Uh… what exactly did we do, young lord…?

—Give me time, you’ll see… —Kael answered with a confident smile—. Everyone is going to love it.

After three days of uninterrupted work, Kael burst into the main hall with an excitement impossible to contain.

  —WE HAVE A TOILET!

His shout echoed throughout the entire mansion.

The high-ranking officials and servants rushed in immediately, alarmed.

Laret appeared with a tense expression.

—Kael… what have you been doing? And why is the main bathroom closed?

Kael puffed out his chest with pride.

—I remodeled it, papa. Now it’s hygienic… and it actually works.

Everyone looked at each other, completely confused.

Freya raised her hand, as if trying to excuse him.

—I witnessed the entire process… —she said calmly—. I don’t fully understand how he did it, but he built a strange system. It doesn’t seem like elemental magic… but it works.

Kael gestured for them to follow him.

He led them to the newly finished bathroom.

When they entered, everyone fell completely silent.

  Isadora frowned.

  —What… is that thing?

Kael jumped forward and pointed proudly.

—This, ladies and gentlemen… is a toilet. It uses water to remove waste and sends it directly to the sewer I built. No smells, no flies, and no infections.

Ken raised his hand like a child in class.

—So… if I sit there… I can do my business in that thing? And what happens after?

Kael didn’t hesitate for a second.

—After using it, you pour water into the bowl. Because of its internal shape, called a siphon, the water drags everything into the duct. And the flow of the stream that runs underneath carries it away automatically. It’s clean and fast.

Everyone exchanged looks of absolute amazement.

Tana covered her mouth with both hands.

Laret looked as if he were wondering whether this was a divine creation or complete madness.

Caria wavered between horror and fascination.

Kael gently tapped the edge of the toilet.

—Don’t worry about the bowl. It’s made of well-fired ceramic. It’s waterproof and doesn’t absorb anything. You can clean it using only water.

The silence lingered until Ken spoke again.

—Young lord… this… this is going to change everything.

The idea struck everyone at the same time.

That white, strange, and shining object… could transform the hygiene of an entire kingdom.

Caria was the first to break the silence.

—Kael… how much magic did you use for this?

  Kael smiled with confidence.

—A lot of magic, mom… but I didn’t feel bad at any moment. After all the synthesis training I’ve done, I can now handle the fusion of specialized matter like this very well.

Then he looked at everyone present, his eyes filled with determination.

—And this… is only the beginning of the project. I’m going to reform Cautares completely. My magic is not for exercising power… it’s for helping people.

Ken let out an incredulous laugh.

—This is incredible… so this is why the young lord had us working like that.

Kael looked at him with a serious and determined expression.

—No, Ken… get ready, because now comes the real challenge.

Ken stared at him, completely confused.

Kael raised his fist with enthusiasm.

—We’re going to make copper pipes!

The silence that followed was heavy.

Ken opened his mouth but couldn’t find words right away.

The soldiers looked at each other; some confused, others intrigued, and a few already smiling at the madness that, once again, promised to change their lives.

Freya watched Kael in silence, with a mix of pride, amazement, and slight fear.

Caria, on the other hand, smiled with her arms crossed, recognizing that this child was not only breaking magical limits… but the limits of the world itself.

And so, without knowing it yet, the little demon of Cautares had just taken the first step toward a revolution that no kingdom was prepared for.
