Chapter XLIII: Historic Figures (Pt. 4)

He is believed to be the creator of the universe. It is His omnipresence that links everyone through the blood oaths. He is the absolute power that destroys those who break their oath given through His essence.

That revelation opened a can of a million questions I had, but I focused on calming the librarian, stopping him before he ordered everyone out of the library.

"Don't worry, that's not necessary," I told him gently.

"Are you sure? I can clear out the room if you wish..."

"Yes, it's fine. They can stay. I just want to know what happened here. I'm trying to learn more of the cindarian history." I pointed to the image.

"Oh, ahem," he cleared his throat, then scrolled through the digital monument until he landed on the year 2B-052M. "It happened billions of years ago, long enough for even some pneumarians to not have been present. At the end of the Chaos Era of Strife, when the Second Great War nearly started. Our Celestial was angered by the infighting and split the planet in half out of frustration before warning them that should the armies start another war or should their feuding put the lives on this world in jeopardy, he'd destroy them himself. It was the day the Era of Discontent began. Don't worry about the split, though. It poses no threat to the planet's stability. They say there's still over 300 miles of neta that still surrounds the planet's core. That's what's keeping the halves from drifting apart."

I felt my heart race with excitement at the thought of going to see the split with my own eyes.

"You guys wanna go check it out? We can go see the crater too," I asked, grinning.

"No. That's outside of the nation. Aren't we supposed to be getting you familiar with Pneuma City?" Za'Fia objected.

"Your childish eagerness aside, my curiosity is piqued," Avarice admitted.

"I don't think that's a good idea," the librarian stated nervously. "Rumors have it that people go missing around there. Many believe it could be the work of the zasshu who secludes himself in the northeast here," he pointed at the darker northeastern portion of Cindar.

He scrolled through more of the monument before stopping on a section dedicated to the figure named 'Aeric'.

"Read this. The guy's bad news. We're only safe because of the blood oath he made long ago, but still, we don't venture to that area."

Aeric was born in the cindarian year 3B-453M, making him over 800 million years old in UST (1.6 billion Earth years). Others feared him due to his nature as a powerful pneumarian-klevonian zasshu. He was part of the Sphinx Crest and was known for his arrogance. He deemed himself the most superior being on the planet and desired to force everyone into submission. Before doing so, he apparently challenged Auryn long ago, attempting to take his life, but lost. Then he was forced to vow never to harm anyone on the planet unless he was provoked first. Now, everyone steered clear of him.

"No personal info, huh?" I remarked.

"At his request, I believe," the librarian stated.

"Well, Raina said that it isn't illegal to go, so I say let's give it a look. If we do bump into the zasshu, so long as we don't antagonize him, we'll be fine," I said.

"I agree that we should go, but why don't we finish the current objective first?" Avarice wisely suggested. "Once we conclude our business in Pneuma City, we ought to visit the northeast hemisphere before traveling to Forgeton."

"Yeah. That's actually pretty smart...," I sighed, hating to admit he was right.

We spent a little longer going through the entire monument's data before eventually taking to the skies again. Flying at our incredible speeds, it wasn't long until we saw our next destination – a dry, rocky desert with a looming purple cloud of gas hovering above it – the Aqrabuamelu District.

Fun fact: Rabae - a respected pneumarian who was originally born a klevonian during the Era of New Beginnings. He is now among the oldest cindarians that still remains on Cindar.
