What the Future Has in Store. not a chapter

Friday January 16 2015. One Year After Tanya’s Return to Japan.

School had been going well for Tanya. She was near the top of the class thanks to her grasp of math and her interest in history. Visha was slowly getting better. She scored well enough in the stem courses, so long as she was able to understand the questions. It almost made up for her lack in the liberal arts classes. Her history grades were particularly poor. Though recently she had been getting a better GPA in that area thanks to her increasing skills in art class. Lucky that had been kept in the same homeroom together for the next semester as well, so that was good.

Tanya had been feeling nervous since her friend had just barely begun getting a good grip on the language, at this point Visha was able to communicate but still struggled when someone spoke too quickly or had a strong accent from a different region. The less said about her writing the better. Tanya couldn’t blame her, her own skills in reading and memorizing Kanji weren’t anything to brag about.

Looking around the classroom she noticed an air of excitement building around the room. Oh, that’s right, the student council had held some sort of student voting contest for the school yearbook club. Today they were announcing the results.

As if on cue their class representative to the student council came walking in at that moment with a paper in hand. The boy blathered on with the introduction, mentioning several names and categories that Tanya ignored. None of these matters in the real world., she thought. It’s not like you can put voted most beautiful in high school on a resume.

“For the category of voted most likely to succeed we have Maki kun from class 3, for most popular we have Sakura chan class 3. For most studious, Rin kun in class 1. And for most kawaii we have our own classes Tanya chan! Everyone put your hands together to congratulate them. The yearbook club has already posted their photos in the school newsletter. Well done class 2.”

The whole class began clapping as the class rep finished the announcement.

Visha turned fearful eyes towards her friend, who was frozen in shock, but only for a moment, then a blind rage filled her friend’s eyes.

“That’s it I’m going to kill them, Visha hol mir den flammenwerfer!”

Visha had to bodily drag Tanya out of the room to prevent a slaughter. Tanya didn’t go quietly, screaming and wiggling around in Visha’s grip as she was carried out of the room, her legs kicking in the air. All the while shouting in German.

“You know this will end up on my resume! Let me go, my future, it’s ruined. Look what they’ve done to my future employment opportunities. Please Visha, they need to pay! I’ll make them Pay!”

Meanwhile the class just clapped and laughed, with someone shouting.

“That’s our little Palmtop Tiger! Look at her go, she’s at it again!”

Visha then spent the next week making sure the yearbook club didn’t die unexpectedly in any “accidents”.
