We entered the dorm room. I dug through my pockets and took out my key and small map, putting them beside my uniforms.
My summoner simply plopped onto his bed, his groaning muffled by his bed. I didn’t need to understand his language to know he sounded exhausted.
Compared to him, I didn’t have as many belongings in his room. It was a one-room plan, and the only things I saw that belonged to him could be seen by spinning in place once. The little pile where I placed my clothes, key, and both maps looked messier than everything else neatly organized in the room, so I stacked my uniforms on top of each other and made a little bowl to place my key in.
I looked around the room, thinking about our living arrangement.
Clothes aren’t an issue, but I wonder if he’s uncomfortable with me bunking in his room?
I turned to my summoner, only to see him fast asleep, face-planted on his bed.
You can fall asleep easily in that position!?
Suddenly, I felt nervous, wondering if I could meet the demands of this school that exhausted my summoner enough to find such an awkward position comfortable enough to sleep in.
Seeing him slumped over his bed reminded me of diagrams displaying the best sleeping position. It was most optimal to have a straight spine, and his current posture was far from ideal. The question is, how do I get him into bed without waking him up?
I didn’t want to disturb his sleep, because I had a feeling that if he woke up properly, he would end up feeling like he had the best sleep ever. A feeling I’ve rarely gotten in my past life as an adult.
I racked my brain, thinking of how to lift him in a way that wouldn’t disturb him. The thing is, touching him would almost guarantee he’d wake up. How much more of a disturbance would I cause if I tried lifting his body? I don’t even know how much my new body can lift!
Unless…
I thought back to when I made all 3 of my summoners’ bullies levitate. Back then, the mental image I produced had no malicious intent, only the intent to stop them from further abusing my summoner.
Perhaps levitating my summoner would be more viable than trying to pick him up with a muscle strength that I don’t even know the limits of.
I walked over to the foot of his bed to get a better view of my summoner’s slumped-over body. Then, I imagined his body slowly being lifted off the floor, making sure to straighten his posture before placing him on the bed. To my surprise, he was still asleep, currently levitating upright in the air as if he were standing. That’s when I noticed his shoes were still on.

I haven’t explored telekinesis enough to confidently be able to take off his shoes without using my hands, so my only hope was that they could slip off easily. Fortunately, they didn’t have shoelaces, so it was less work for me. I looked up to make sure his head was upright before moving toward his feet.
They were a pair of flat-tipped, reddish-brown loafers with golden thread woven into the stitches. The shoes slipped off surprisingly easily, leaving only his socks. I didn’t know if he was a socks-on or socks-off sleeper, but this wasn’t the time to ask.
I carefully turned his body midair so that he was lying flat, then slowly moved my floating summoner over his bed, also using telekinesis to pull back the covers so that I could pull the blanket over him later. Carefully, I lowered his floating form onto his bed, gently resting his head against his pillow. I was tempted to reach over and pull the blanket over with my hands, but decided against it and used telekinesis to pull the blanket over him.
I looked out the window and noticed the sun was still out, but it’d be a few hours before it dipped under the horizon.
I checked on my summoner’s sleeping form one more time before grabbing my key and leaving the room, being careful not to make too much noise with the door.
…
It’s weird, being able to see the sun and moon at the same time felt strange, especially when one of them appeared significantly larger than the other.
It’ll be a while before I can get used to this.
I wondered if there’s anyone who figured out the approximate distance the moon is from the planet. Knowing that could at least make seeing the moon feel less terrifying.
I heard the sound of students from behind me and turned to see a boy and a girl, huddled together as both emerged from the dorm building.
They stared at me, as if one of their parents caught them sneaking out. As they stood frozen, I noticed their hands were interlocked. Ah, must be a couple.
The boy shouted syllables at me, as if to hide his embarrassment. Or did he think I was eyeing his girl?
Whatever, my current position wasn’t great for admiring the sunset.
I decided to look for a better spot away from the dorm’s entrance. I need a place that wouldn’t be prone to interruptions. So I stepped onto the grass on the side of the dorm that the sun’s light touched.
The further I walked, the more I realized a spot on this side of the dorm wouldn’t work, as it was covered by trees.
Maybe I should try the main entrance. It’s not obstructed, and the town is also in clear view.
I turned around and started walking back to the dorm, wanting to go to the giant gate I first saw.
…
Fortunately, the gate was still open, so I was able to walk through without a problem.
When I arrived near the edge of the cliff, I saw someone else standing there. It was Ms. Grey and Electrical Blue Cotton Candy hair. Both of them sensed my arrival and turned to face me. Compared to the expressions of the couple I met earlier, it didn’t seem like I was intruding on anything.
I silently walked to Blue’s right, keeping a good 10 feet from her. I didn’t hear any syllables from either of them, so I guess that meant they didn’t find the distance I placed between me and her odd.
I snuck a glance at both of the ladies, and it seemed they had the same idea as me. Just silently enjoying the view of a setting sun. Are they thinking of anything as they take in the view? Perhaps they’re not thinking of anything at the moment.
My gaze trailed to the town below. I noticed the same buildings and landmarks I saw during my freefall.
I let my thoughts run as the sun slowly sank into the horizon.
Eventually, the two needed to retire for the day and returned to the school. I waited a few minutes to make sure I wouldn’t be accused of following them.
