Interlude 2 Mattresses

  POV Mathéo

Location: Cave system under Abbeville, France

I summon yet another mattress on top of the cave crawler and will it downward to pin the creature to the floor. I smile widely as I watch it wiggle around, clearly struggling under my power. While I originally despaired when I accidentally used my right-hand power creation to touch my mattress and gained the ability to summon and control mattresses, I was now quite fond of my abilities.

While I'm sure the regular idiot couldn't use it very well, I have managed to do quite well for myself. I step closer to the struggling creature and form a large spring mattress in its mouth, causing its head to rapidly expand before exploding.

I smirk, satisfied with the result and my display of power. Nothing, not the undead or Cave crawlers, has been able to survive against me, allowing me to collect these crystals and add them to my ever-growing horde without issues. I almost welcomed a challenge at this point. Sadly, no new challengers came to meet me as I wandered the caves, careful not to get too lost.

If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

'I bet none of the idiots have even thought of fighting the monsters.' I snort, 'I probably have the most crystals in Abbeville, maybe even in the whole of Northern France.' I grin before heading deeper into the caves and killing a few more Crawlers to add to my horde before my wristwatch starts to beep at me, signalling the end of my allotted hunting time.

While I wanted to keep hunting to increase my body count and watching those beneath me fall to my might, I still wanted to complete the challenges, or at least the ones that weren't clearly a red herring. 'I doubt anyone would be able to kill those goliath sky monsters. It's clearly just meant to kill off the foolhardy. But not me, I will live, I will rise to the top, and then, they will finally notice me and know their place.'

I summon multiple mattresses to make something akin to a bed fort to keep myself safe, then take out the treadmill from my inventory and start running the 160 kilometres. I grin at my genius. 'Only an idiot would actually run through the tunnels; this was faster and safer.'
