Mirror Wheel (Power Stone Bonus Chapter)

Waking up the following day, my FP had risen satisfactorily for such a major heist.

  [Fear Point Bance: 7,241]

I stared for a moment before opening the shop.

  [Base Sharingan - 7,000 FP]

In the price range of a few thousand FP, the Sharingan was, in my opinion, a very solid option. Most of the other abilities were pretty weak or

had no growth potential, which was not at all the case for the Sharingan.

The only issue with the Sharingan was that I'd have to suffer some kind of trauma...

'Welp, I'll burn that bridge when I get there.'

  I bought the ability.

  The effect was immediate.

It wasn't painful, exactly. More like pressure, concentrated directly behind both eyes, sting about three seconds before it faded entirely. I blinked.

Then I found the small cracked mirror above my bathroom sink and looked.

Both of my eyes were fully red, with a single bck tomoe rotating slowly in each iris.

  "...Cool."

After checking myself out in the mirror, I actually looked around the bathroom.

  Everything was sharper.

Not in the way that prescription gsses correct blurry vision, it was more like the world had been running at thirty frames per second my entire life and had just been bumped up to something else entirely.

I turned toward the wall and focused on a small crack in the pster.

  I could see it breathing.

'This is going to take some getting used to.'

But even so, it was good.

I felt like I'd be able to notice danger far quicker with my improved senses.

Another good thing was the fact that I was actually able to use my Sharingan in the first pce.

I had worried about the fact that I had no Chakra, but as I expected, my system seemed to have handled that for me.

I couldn't say for sure if I had Chakra now, as I felt nothing off with my body, so I felt it was safer to assume that the Sharingan were simply modified to be usable without Chakra.

That assumption, however, came with a caveat.

After about five minutes of passively using the eyes, I noticed it. A subtle but unmistakable drain on my mind. Far from being debilitating, but surely noticeable.

I deactivated them, letting my eyes return to normal.

  'So it's not free.'

Well, I had expected that from the beginning, so I didn't feel any dissatisfaction with my purchase.

I reactivated them and started counting.

At the two-minute mark, barely noticeable.

At five, a mild heaviness behind the eyes.

At ten, something closer to the feeling of having stared at a bright screen for several hours straight.

  I deactivated them again.

'So roughly ten minutes before it starts becoming a real issue.'

Not ideal, but workable. It just meant I'd have to be selective about when I used them rather than leaving them running constantly. Over time, I was sure I'd be able to extend their window of use. Considering I had literally just obtained them, ten minutes seemed solid enough.Anyway, it wasn't as if I pnned on using them at all times. Spinny red eyes weren't exactly a subtle feature. Sure, they left an impression, but that was the exact opposite of what I wanted for the timebeing.

I made a mental note to practice activating and deactivating them whenever I had the chance.---Once again, I was met with the reality that I was a 'nobody' to the United States.

No ID meant that there was no way I'd be able to get pne tickets.

No pne tickets meant I'd have to drive for pretty much thirty hours straight to get from New York to New Mexico.

And realistically, considering I'd need to take breaks and whatnot, that time would extend to at least two days.

I wasn't particurly in a rush to make it to New Mexico, but travelling for such long distances was simply unpleasant.

  "Damn, can't I get a flying ability?"

I genuinely considered getting some kind of power to travel quickly, but when I looked at the prices of abilities involving 'travel'...

[Flying Thunder God — 140,000 FP]

[Pika Pika No Mi — 280,000 FP]

  [Instant Transmission — 1,400,000 FP]

Pretty much all of them were absurdly expensive.

I briefly lingered on the Pika Pika No Mi, otherwise known as the Glint Glint Fruit. I wondered why it was more expensive than the Yami; by all means, I felt that the Yami was superior.

'Tsk, this pricing is just ridiculous.'

I quickly gave up on purchasing any of those abilities.

So if I couldn't fly by pne or by ability, I would probably have to go by car.

"But I can't get a fucking car, because I don't have a driver's license, because I'm a fucking alien!" ---Finally, I ended up just buying a car from a random sketchy dude on Facebook Marketpce.

Despite him being a bit of a tweaker, the car seemed decent enough. Even if I were an alien, I still had money.

With that, I started the long drive to New Mexico.
