The ... but ...... is that if you fought for someone else. You would survive and could even bring the dead back at a certain cost. You had to make a deal with different Depraves to withhold their powers to fight them. It was quite bothersome, wasn't it? There was a catch in it too. You could harness their power. You could have various weapons from sabers, knives to arrows, guns. All in different shapes and forms, each one better than the previous one depending on the synchronization rate. The question would be how I know all this. It would be because I did not live inside the walls, inside a cervix outside the walls and hunted Depraves for meals for my precious Ellaya. She is everything to me and I will not have anyone like her. Maybe she is the reason I was still alive. I swore that day. I would destroy that man, that man who took her.... who took her..... That man clad in gold saying he is the king of heroes. I swore that I would kill that bastard and would take my Ellaya back at all cost. I would take her back no matter the cost. That day was the day when everything changed and I somehow was chosen by them as their representative.
Due to the space and time fractures, there grew many fissures along the planet Earth. Depraves came out of these fissures and started killing people without a care in the world. The population before the collapse was 3 trillion humans, not including infants and the aged. These Depraves minced them into a slightly remarkable size of 2 billion people but that was just the start of it. Along with the Depraves came people of the past and the future, the human population grew to 3 trillion again but they fought amongst themselves as many of them started to become Deprave. All indicating that humans were the main culprit. Many wars were amongst humans, with Depraves, against Depraves and a multitude of slogans for the so-called preservation wars to be continued on. There was a striking one thousand years of war. After which the population and planet Earth was scorched to its limits. The human population was to no end divided and nobody knew they might encounter Depraves or humans. Earth became a place whose demography’s changed and linked to many different dimensions. They were all parallel dimensions but from a different era. Entire armies got transported to this dumpster of a timeline and people could not make the heads or tails of what was going on. All of them came trashing in and this world became the primary center-point and for people inside the walls, it was paradise and for the people, outside it was hell. Was it or not? I cannot answer it but one thing was sure Ellaya was my one hope or ray of light in this dark world.
As many would have guessed correctly, I was a thousand plus years old. Even I tend to forget how old I was. Killing Depraves, eating Depraves, catching Depraves, it was my lifestyle and I was proud of it, if there was a word for it. Ellaya was about a hundred or something years old. I looked like a middle-aged man. She was beautiful in every aspect. She just hated me referring to as this or that year old. She was sensitive about her age. Even sometimes, I got confused by looking at her face and thinking she was a cute twenty-something years old. I remembered her hitting me and always fighting me for not calling her a young lady which I sometimes mistakenly called her "Yes, my queen" or "Yes, old lady ". There was always a fight over what to call her or not. She was and would always remain the light of my eyes.

Most of the time Ellaya remained at home and I went out to hunt down Depraves, and we ate their meat with fun and excitement. I would sell their parts in the nearby market to have a sound living. Many people would call for me and would offer huge sums of money which I usually accepted as the people inside the walls had no sense of direction and effort. They were pompous and fat like a pig. We usually joked about how fat and diabetic the insiders were and how a specific Depraved person would eat it. As far as jokes went, it was pretty funny. However, as time went by, I grew more and more old and lost my senses of pain and happiness one by one. There was only one thing that was making me go and that was Ellaya My sweet daughter. I called her daughter but she was my cousin by blood relations and she always made fun of me over that implying that she was not my daughter. How funny were those days? If only I had come home a little early that day. My happy days would not have come to a close.
It was a normal day like any other. I killed some Depraves and sealed their souls in containers. The usual problem was that if you let those things roam around after their death, they dissipate. However, if you put them in certain objects, they become Deprave killing weapons. It is a ludicrous idea, right? I do not have the slightest idea who created them but using them to destroy more of the same type of creatures reminds me of humans. In the early times, there were so many battles that it was just like a dream. All weapons became crystallized, meaning they held the same power as a gun, missile or a nuke. All had the same effect and the same amount of power. Even if a nuke exploded on your face, it would do you no harm. Only the crystallized weapons once destroyed could the bearer be killed and these crystallized objects could in different forms or not. Some of the brighter minds would be asking what shape is my weapon so I would tell you that I have none. As a person who lived in the present. It happened right before my eyes and so I did not have enough time or experience to evade the onslaught and got my core infected by a Deprave so I could kill them like I was one of them but I was not. I was a human even though I hated them. It was like I belonged nowhere and yet somehow belonged everywhere. Probably this was why that bastard came for her.
