Chapter 17 : Level 20 and Class Quest

David starred at the Levitar throwing spikes of silver toward him, summoning a blue colored rectangle in front of him easily blocked and deviated every spike. This was one of his new creations, he had three Astromath Spots taken now :

  • Blue : The shape is filled with tungsten atoms put down in a honeycomb shape all over the dimension. Very light but extremely durable. Based on the material “graphene”.

  •
  • Red : A dimension filled with a teaspoon worth of neutron star, weighing 10 millions tons.

  •
  • Green : A dimension of emptiness, weightless and with absolutely nothing inside. Objects can easily be stored inside. One entity per cube.

  •

Those new shapes have become extremely deadly, the blue and red color being a new fighting style he was trying to develop :

  • The blue acting like an extremely sturdy shield he could summon.

  •
  • The red became projectiles to send at his enemies to crush them, and their speed wasn’t limited by their weight.

  •
  • The green was mostly utility and he had a project for a white crystal that would contain obsidian to create pointed, sharp geometrical shape as another means of offense, however it was extremely brittle, making it hard for the dimension to keep its effect.

  •

A dozen red cubes got summoned behind David and suddenly morphed into holographic rectangular lines rushing toward the Levitar, slamming into its shape with such speed and strength it made the entire prothean complex shake and tremble.

[Unit-Levitar01 was killed by [Red Astromath Construct], received 1500EXP]

  [LEVEL UP!]

David smiled, he had done it! Finally reached level 20! As he approached the Levitar’s crushed body, his liquid silver unable to hold its shape now that its nanites were destroyed.

David couldn’t be happier, he was aware that his charisma was still the one of any random man, but all his other stats were at the first Transcendence. And now he had another target too.

[Congratulations on getting to level 20, big boss!]

  [Penalty] : War

[Location] : Prothean Complex under the gnomish city of Kork

But… What the hell did this penalty mean? Why would David’s investigation lead to a potential war? Was it related to this mysterious being his quest was telling him to kill or convince?

He didn’t like that one bit. He had explored the final room of the dungeon so many times just to try and find.. anything. But not a single hint led him to the signal. The only thing close to one would be the organ’s chants but it had nothing interesting to say.

He might inhabit a Cygilites body but he knew nothing of how their technologies worked. Yes his Sight made his mind far sharper and able to easily discover arcanic secrets, discover hidden areas and more, but it didn’t turn him into a Prothean Tech genius.

There had to be a hidden room somewhere. But where?

Seeing the third and final component finally drop from the Levitar’s loot window made David want to cry. In twenty two dungeon runs not a single time had it dropped until now. Instead he’d always get some [Pure Silver], [Nano-Tech Enhanced Silver] or some variation of it.

Materials to make Liquid Silver, but at least it seemed to be worth a ton of money. He had also gotten a dozen of Giant’s Body Refinement Elixir. A rather secret recipe belonging to the giant’s race which would boost someone’s body size, sturdiness and power.

Raising his Str and Con stats. To David it was useless. But maybe he could give or sell it later. As he obtained the new component, he went into his mind where his new cubic dimension with hundreds floating cubes, each containing an object or a certain material floated around.

He grasped and summoned both other components. The cube appeared, floating softly above his hand and dissolving to allow every material to start to alleviate and turn into a purple light which fused into a single object.

[You have obtained three [Rare] [Components ?], you will receive an [Epic] item of Prothean or Cygilites origin.]

[Fusion complete, you have acquired : Cygitek’s Cloak.]

David now stared at a floating cloak made from some strange blue leather. Calling it leather would be a mistake as it seemed, once you got close to it, to be made from some extremely hard and tough material that could only be described as metal turned into a cloak.

Little honeycomb shapes showing the cloak’s true nature as metal turned it into extremely solid and protective armor. Any being made of flesh touching the armor would shiver feeling the hexagonal shape shift and move around, as if alive.

Constantly adapting to the wearer’s movements. And what completely removed any doubt that this cloak belonged to someone powerful was the line up of green runes all around its surface.

David put on the cloak, looking at himself through his reflection in the well polished bronze plate on a wall, the cloak had a hood, which was able to hide his face, though only partially.

The green light shining from his burning soulless eyes could be seen by anyone and his sleek faceless silver visage was also easy to spot.

The cloak continued in round shoulder pads made of three solid metal circles inside each other, they were covered in golden runes that would shine a green light whenever the pads randomly decided to start turning and shifting in different directions.

His upper torso was covered in a golden-bronze plate covered in an engraving showing what seemed to be a Cygilites heraldry.

The cloak kept going down his entire body, long leather straps going from his golden torso plate down to his knees, each around the width of David’s forearm and covered in glowing green runes of arcane magi-tech.

Those straps were surprisingly thick and very tightly linked together going from his torso plate to his waist where they all went through a sort of bronze girdle made of multiple little plates of bronze.

Each engraved with a green rune and linked by what looked like some sort of green holographic plate between the bronze plates. The leather straps going through ended up multiplying and completely hid his legs down to his knees in a sea of glowing green runes and leather straps.

The strange blue cloak went down to his heels, constantly floating right above the ground. His arms, apart from his shoulders covered by the shoulder pads, were not hidden showing all their silver colored glory.

And with one of his hands holding the warglaive as he softly floated above the floor, he only had one thought in his mind.

“I really look great. I could be a boss in a game.”

[You do look like a very crazy, flesh hating mysterious robotic being from an advanced civilisation!]

“Come on, I'm not that scary looking. Just admit the cloak is cool! What does it do by the way…”

  [Okay…you look cool.]

[Cygitek’s Cloak] [Epic] : Cygilites Cygitek are beings of immense knowledge and power. Their mastery of technologies is so beyond the current understanding of even the most advanced gnomish mechanists that their prowess would be considered magic by most.

Their main and most distinguishable features being their four arms and their cloak which massively boost their powers and skills while granting more than acceptable defense. They also do look very impressive and show the rank and might of its wearer.

  [Effect] :

  • Raise Char by 50

  •
  • Raise Arm by 30

  •

  • Raise Arcana and Sight by 25

  •
  • Multiply HP by 2

  •

“Tell me my new stats Syllena, no need to show the status screen, just tell me.”

[Charisma went from 5 to 55, Armor went from 320 to 350, Arcana went from 590 to 620, Sight went from 440 to 470 and finally your HP went from 620 to 1240.]

“Good! Now my charisma isn't lower than a car salesman, even if it’s my cloak who’s doing all the work there.”

“Alright, now back to the quest. I don’t know enough about the Protheans and Cygilites technologies, however I know someone who does. Let’s go make sure the gnome girl wakes up. She has been unconscious long enough.”

David's body floated silently above the floor, his speed so fast he would just be a blur to anyone below level 50. He reached the sleeping gnome. While a lot had happened, in the end she hadn’t been unconscious for more than a few hours. Maybe a day at most.

He raised his hand, sending his healing nano bots into her body, checking everywhere for a possible reason why she just refused to wake up.

He however quickly realised something, nothing was wrong with her body. No brain damage, no internal bleeding he had missed. Which left only one possibility.

  [Analyze]

  [Current status : Awake]

  [Clever girl...]

I hope everyone is enjoying this chapter. If you spot any mistake do not hesitate to tell me in the comments. My main language isn't english so I'm more than eager to increase my level and better myself. Same for the System's current "appearance" do not hesitate if you dislike it and want something more simple and maybe easier to read!

  Have a great day!
