Welcome, Iris

The daughter of the goddess exhales sharply, clearly not believing Orvyn.

A mortal, above the gods themselves, when those same mortals always grovel at their feet for minor assistance?

  Ridiculous.

She straightens her posture slightly and tilts her chin up just a little. "My name is Iris. Daughter of the goddess of spring, Velma." she says softly. Her voice captivates the recruits. Orvyn looks at her, raise his brow, and finally sees that she is indeed beautiful.

Then proceeds to kick another recruit into the blood river just as a sugar bomb explodes beneath their feet. The recruit faceplants into the river, choking as the thick blood invades their lungs.

Iris blinks. "I genuinely can't tell you're helping or make things worse."

Another sugar bomb explodes, causing a young man to lose his arms, he clutches his missing limb as his tentacles writhe violently in pain.

A smoking Leviathan, who looks like that one uncle in every Thanksgiving gathering, grins. "Ha! Called it! Pay up Vaelith." He says, standing next to Vaelith.

His smokes curls at Vaelith's face, but she doesn't react, she rarely does. She just blinks and hands him ten celestial golds. "Just so you know, that outcome was only possible because I let it happen." she says in her usual even tone.

The leviathan smirks wide and takes a long drag. "Then why did you let it happen?"

Elaris materializes behind him just to say two words before disappearing again. "...Entertainment value."

Iris blinks. She looks back at Orvyn, who is now dipping a recruit with a missing limb into the blood river, attempting to regenerate their limb back by touching the never-ending flowing ancient blood. No one knows if this method truly works, and no one cares enough to prove him wrong.

Iris clenches her hands into a fists. "This is utterly ridiculous. We are here to train as the new wardens, not... whatever this is!"

"Welcome to the team." Orvyn says flatly.

"So you admit that you're inflicting suffering on us?!"

"Yes." Orvyn says. He doesn't even bother being subtle about it.

  Iris is flabbergasted. "Why?"

Elaris materializes behind Iris. "Because suffering is Vaelith's duty." He said softly.

  A pause.

".. She also finds it highly amusing."

Iris whips her head around, only to find no one was there.

Except for another recruit surging into the sky as a sugar bomb claims another victim, timed perfectly with Vaelith sipping her tea.
