Small Efforts, Sweet Moments

  11:00 AM — At Aditya’s Office

Aditya was in the meeting room, while Ira had already grown bored wandering around alone.

Like a carefree child, she roamed through the corridors, curious about every little thing.

She looked adorable — and being Aditya’s sister only made everyone treat her even more gently, as if she were a real little kid.

While exploring, she eventually found herself standing at Anamika’s cabin.

Anamika was sitting at her desk.

She wore a soft cream outfit — a ruffled floral dress with pale blue patterns, layered under a cozy cape with puffed sleeves. A matching beret and a small blue ribbon on her shoulder completed her gentle, elegant look.

Ira’s eyes sparkled the moment she saw her.

Running up to Anamika, she exclaimed, “You look like an artistic doll!”

Startled by the sudden, playful voice, Anamika looked up — and when she saw Ira, she smiled warmly.

  “Thank you,” she replied softly.

Ira sat beside her, watching her work curiously.

Anamika continued sketching while chatting with Ira, and Ira kept telling her about herself. Anamika listened with her usual calm smile, her pencil never stopping.

Time slipped away quietly between conversation and work.

Before they knew it, two hours had passed, and it was already lunchtime.

Aditya, realizing Ira was missing, began searching for her.

He finally reached Anamika’s cabin — but neither of them was there.

With growing confusion, he searched the office until he spotted them both in the cafeteria.

Ira and Anamika were surrounded by the female employees, who were eagerly making them taste their lunchboxes.

From afar, Aditya couldn’t help but smile.

Just then, Ruhi appeared behind him.

“Seems like Ira and our Lady Boss have become the office’s favorite babies!” she teased.

  Aditya chuckled softly.

  “Well… they’re cute,” he admitted.

Ruhi smirked and asked mischievously, “Who, sir? Anamika… or your little sister Ira?”

If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

Aditya turned his face away shyly and murmured, “Both.”

Ruhi burst out laughing as Aditya walked toward the cafeteria to join them.

The moment he entered, all the female employees froze in surprise.

Everyone instantly started fixing their hair.

Watching this, Ira rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath, “Here comes my hero brother — to steal the spotlight again!”

One of the employees smiled nervously, “Good afternoon, sir! Would you like to join us for lunch?”

Aditya glanced at Anamika and Ira.

“You both are having lunch with everyone?” he asked.

Anamika looked around and replied innocently, “Yes! They invited us so sweetly, I couldn’t say no.”

Ira sighed and thought, Poor brother… what will he do now?

Aditya smiled awkwardly. “Alright then… I’ll bring my lunch box and join you.”

He walked off toward his cabin, while the girls looked way too excited at the idea.

Ruhi glanced at Ira, who just gave her a helpless look — as if to say, Now what can we do?

Anamika, on the other hand, looked utterly confused.

She had no idea why everyone suddenly started fixing their makeup.

  Meanwhile, at Saaniya’s Hospital…

Saaniya had just sat down for lunch in her cabin when a knock came at the door.

  “Come in,” she said.

Rudra entered — carrying a stack of books.

  Saaniya’s eyes widened.

  “What’s all this?” she asked.

Rudra placed the books on her desk.

“Novels — and some poetry collections. My favorites! I brought them for you, just like I promised yesterday.”

  Saaniya looked genuinely surprised.

  “You’ve read this many books?!”

  Rudra smiled proudly.

“This is just a small glimpse! If you come to my house, you’ll go crazy seeing my library — so many beautiful novels of every genre! Romance, adventure, drama, psychological thrillers, horror — everything!”

Saaniya gave him a judging look. “You’ve really read all that?”

“Of course!” he said, brushing his hair back with a proud grin.

She smirked and said sarcastically, “It’s a miracle you became a doctor — and a director — even after reading such nonsense books! Great job, Mr. Rudra!”

Rudra pouted. “Helping you was a waste of time! I’m taking these back.”

At that, Saaniya suddenly remembered Anamika’s morning outburst — ‘You’re such an idiot!’

The memory made her chuckle softly. Then, realizing she might have hurt Rudra’s feelings, she quickly said,

“No, no — I mean, I’m grateful for your help, Mr. Rudra! You’re really great… a great reader! Seriously!”

“Really?” he asked with exaggerated surprise.

Saaniya forced a faint smile and nodded because she knew she needs his help!

That was enough to make Rudra beam with pride. He began passionately talking about his favorite books and genres.

  Saaniya sighed inwardly.

“What all I have to do… I have to patch things up with Aniket within a week, or Anamika will get mad again! Her anger isn’t really scary though… It's kinda cute. But still — I can’t let her get angry!

And then, there’s Aniket — I still have to figure out what his weird metaphors even mean! He talks like he’s straight out of a novel… never says anything directly! Idiot! Guess I’ll have to read all these books just to understand him!”

She looked at the pile of novels in front of her and sighed again.

  Meanwhile, at a quiet restaurant…

Aniket was having lunch with his father.

He looked genuinely happy — probably because it was his father’s treat.

  Shekhar, however, remained silent.

After a moment, he said quietly, “I’m sorry.”

Aniket nearly choked on his food. “What?!” he coughed.

Turning away slightly, Shekhar said in his usual firm tone, “For this morning.”

It was a completely new experience for Aniket — hearing his father apologize for punishing him.

He wanted to laugh but restrained himself, replying softly, “It’s okay… it was my fault anyway, Dad.”

  Shekhar sighed deeply.

“At least you’re wise enough to realize that it was your fault.”

Aniket pouted and muttered under his breath, "He’s never going to change…"

A few moments later, Shekhar asked, “So, what was your fight with Aditya about? Why was he upset with you?”

  Aniket lowered his gaze.

“It was my mistake, Dad,” he said quietly.

He expected Shekhar to scold or punish him — but Shekhar stayed silent.

After a while, he said calmly, “Aditya is mature. He’ll forgive a fool like you. Just make sure to apologize properly — and don’t repeat the same mistake again.”

Aniket looked at him in surprise.

“Don’t you even want to know what I did?” he asked.

Shekhar met his eyes and said firmly, “I trust you enough to know it wasn’t something terrible. But I also know Aditya doesn’t get angry for no reason. As long as he’s with you, I’m not worried.”

Aniket went quiet. He didn’t know what to say.

Then Shekhar smiled faintly. “But remember, son — whenever you need help or want to talk, come to me. I’m always here for you.”

Aniket smiled back and lowered his eyes.

  “Yes, Dad.”

A gentle silence fell between them — but this silence didn’t create distance.

  It brought them closer.

They didn’t need words — they could finally understand each other through their quiet.
