The broken hearts

Aditya's car slowly entered the parking lot. Fixing his hair in the mirror, he stepped out of the vehicle. At the same time, from the other side, Aniket got out of his car.

Aniket had spent the previous night at Aditya's house - or rather, spent the night trying to convince him not to meet Anamika.

But all his efforts had gone in vain, because Aditya remained firm in his decision. He was going to meet Anamika today - and help her, too.

Aniket grabbed Aditya's arm in frustration and said,"Do my words even matter to you anymore? I spent the whole night trying to make you understand, and yet you still want to go through with this madness! Why?!"

Aditya replied,"What do you mean, why? You know the answer just as well as I do! I loved her... I still do... and I always will! And that's exactly why I want to help her fulfill her dreams."

Aniket, holding his forehead, said,"You're not getting it! I'm not stopping you from helping her - I'm stopping you from meeting her!"

Aditya smiled faintly,"You're acting like I'll fall apart the moment I see her. I know she doesn't love me - and I've lived with that truth for the past six years. I'll keep living with it."

Just then, Aditya's gaze caught a car pulling into the parking lot. It stopped a little distance away, and out stepped Anamika and Saaniya.

Following Aditya's eyes, Aniket saw them too.

The girls walked away toward the building, but Aditya and Aniket remained where they were. Aditya kept watching Anamika until even her shadow vanished from sight. A single tear slipped from his eye. He kept staring in the same direction, his heart racing uncontrollably.

Aniket looked at him. He reached out to console him, but some hesitation pulled his hand back.

In that moment, a memory flashed before Aniket - from six years ago, when a tearful Aditya had said,

"I know... I know she doesn't like me, but what can I do? My heart still beats for her! I know God has made someone else for her, but I can't choose anyone else. I... I belong only to her, even if she'll never be mine."

Aniket didn't say a word. He simply turned and walked away.

Aditya sat in his car, rolled up all the windows, closed his eyes - and all he could see was Anamika.

He screamed,"Why?! Why do I still long for you even now?! Why?!"

  Inside the Office...

Anamika and Saaniya sat in a meeting room. Anamika was visibly nervous, her legs bouncing restlessly.

Saaniya smiled and held her hand,"Calm down, Anu. I've seen your storyline and character design - they're both amazing! And besides, I know for a fact he'll invest in you."

  Anamika whispered,"Still... I'm scared."

Saaniya looked into her eyes, confident,"Stop being scared. I promise - he will invest in your project. And you know, I always keep my promises."

Just then, the door creaked open. Standing there was Aniket.

He looked angry - and seeing him like that, the smile faded from Saaniya's face.

Aniket spoke in a firm tone,"I'm Aniket. Maybe you've forgotten me, Anamika?"

Anamika already had trouble speaking to people. Aniket's intense gaze only made it harder. She looked down, her voice soft and hesitant,"I... I'm sorry. I don't remember. Actually... we're here to... meet Aditya."

Her quiet voice and lowered eyes only fueled Aniket's anger further.

He thought to himself,"How could you forget us? After causing my friend so much pain, how can you forget, Anamika?"

Saaniya stepped in firmly,"We didn't know you'd be here. But since you are, I know exactly what you've come to say. Let's talk about that somewhere else, not here. My friend is here to meet someone who could help realize her dream - let her focus."

Before Aniket could respond, Saaniya grabbed his hand and pulled him out.

After they left, Anamika let out a deep breath and sank into the chair. Her hands rubbed together, her legs trembled, her breath grew shallow.

Anamika Patil - the girl who had barely spoken to people all her life - was shaken. Only one person had ever spoken to her like that before... and Aniket's harsh tone had brought back that memory.

Her voice felt trapped in her throat. Her hands trembled. She couldn't breathe properly. Maybe this was why Anamika never went out alone. She couldn't handle loud voices or cold, harsh stares.

On one side was Anamika, trying to collect herself - and on the other, Aditya, in his car, just as broken.

And the two friends meant to support them - Aniket and Saaniya - now saw each other as the reason for their pain.

  So, what happens next?

Will Aditya and Anamika finally meet?

Will Saaniya and Aniket be able to handle the situation... or only make it worse?
