038 HELP ME FIND SANO

“Do you think I should believe someone like you?” Reigen changed his tone. The voice was calm but I could hear some impatience in it.

“Someone like me?” I wasn’t sure what he was trying to interpret.

“Given that you were taught by that man only gives me the impression of lies and deception. I can’t believe a word you say!” Reigen gave me backhanded praise. This change of tone was so sudden.

  I was taken aback.

“I don’t know where he is.” I said to him once again.

“If we can’t find out through you maybe we should turn to your mother who recently moved here!” Reigen’s eyes sharpened as he spoke. He moved his hand to reach out for something in one of his drawers.

  It was another yellow envelope.

“I am not gonna play your game.” I was not reading another file. This is becoming some sort of theme now. I don’t ever recall myself doing something to gain this kind of attention. They want my dad not me. The way Reigen treats me like I am someone dangerous says one thing that he is being cautious and doesn’t want me to know anything and expects me to tell him everything.

I leaned closer looking at Reigen.

“You should be wise to leave my mother out of this.” I told him seriously. I am not really sure what she would do if she knew what had happened to me with Shin and these people. The concept of her finding out wasn't something I felt was necessary. Especially due to her divorce with Sano. I don’t want any further disputes between my mom and dad.

“We tracked down that they have divorced recently.” Reigen spoke up.

“And?” I asked. Turning my head slightly. Eyes staring daggers.

“We also tracked down that they had a legal dispute over you.” Reigen pointed out something I was not aware of yet.

Is this the deal my mom doesn’t want me to know? These people got their hands on this?

I hesitated slightly looking over at that envelope and finally decided to reach out for it.

These were court records. Not original but copies.

Dispute between Sano Aisaki and Evelin Aisaka over my custody.

My mom wished to strip my dad from records of when he officially adopted me making it as if he never was my dad. Sano objected to this as unreasonable. The outcome was settlement for the following. I was not to be mentioned about the divorce until they settled this dispute. They divorced ten months ago but their settlement only came through three weeks ago.

This would explain why my mom did not mention the divorce until now.

Another point was made from Sano’s request. He will not legally be my father from the moment of divorce. The adoption will be removed from records only if I declare it. If I ever reach out to him it will be my choice and my mother won’t be able to object to this. In return he won’t actively reach out to me and will go as far as sabotage all possible contact ways to try to accommodate my mothers wish for me not to see him again. If I manage to still reach out. My dad won’t be held accountable. My mom agreed to this and settled.

Certain amounts of assets were transferred and money moved to both sides. Which to me looked like an equal amount was divided. Though this doesn’t actually mention the reason for their divorce.

The divorce itself was the reason for this dispute.

“Doesn’t this prove that I don’t know where he is?’’ I questioned Reigen.

“It does.” Reigen agreed. Then looked at me, pondering. "Aren't you curious why he was persistent to keep you close to him?”

“He is my dad.” I shrugged my shoulders stating the obvious.

“This only proves how valuable you are, Rory.” Reigen said to me as if I was clueless. “Sano Aisaki only surrounds himself with people who can do things for him. You are hiding yourself. This is what this document proves to us.” He explained how he saw things.

“By hiding myself you think about my potential?” I asked.

  Reigen nodded to this.

I just started pondering what all this meant.

Reigen had a history with my dad. What kind I don’t know but me being who I am he is not taking me lightly. Reigen seems to be on the receiving side of my dads overwhelming strength and power. That is what I sensed from this. He doesn’t want to take detours or play around with this. The motive to monitor me was now looking more clear.

“Leave my mom out of this.” I nudged him. “I have not called my dad since I came here. This is proof that there is no way for me to contact him. I won’t be helping you to find him either. All you can do right now is punish me for publicly hitting your brother. But as you said, I did not do any permanent damage so we can simply shake hands and let bygone’s be bygone’s.” I said.

“I wish I could believe your words, Rory. I really do, but I am in no position to trust any word or action that comes from you.” Reigen did not believe me.

I did not understand his actions or words. Isn’t that so simple to understand?

“Can I go now?” I asked again pointlessly.

“Not until you tell me what I want to hear.” He answered me.

“Nothing I say is what you want to hear. I don’t even know what you want from me.” I helplessly said. “I am very angry you crossed the line with Shin. I ask you to consider my feelings. There’s nothing that indicates that I am lying to you.”

“It's a very convenient position you're in but I can’t take your words at face value. Show me concrete proof.” Reigen gestured to convince him otherwise than just telling him. “If you can’t show me then corporate with me instead.” He told me a way to do what he wanted.

“And what would this corporation look like?” I asked.

“Help me find Sano. I need a location. Point me towards him. If you truly don’t know. Work with me!” He invited me to work with him to find my dad.

“No way!!” I shook my head. “After what you’ve done I plan to stay as far as possible.” I gave my answer to him. I will not work with people who did this to me. This is truly insane. Before Reigen could give me a replay a knocking sound interrupted.

We both looked in the direction the doors opened.

“Just me!” It was the voice of Yukari Winters.
