027 RORY STARTS ASKING THE RIGHT QUESTIONS

“Time’s up dear Rory!” A sudden voice surprised me as I approached my dormitory room.

I barely maintained my posture seeing those icy haired figures standing leisurely in the corridor. He just comes and goes as he pleases.

“What are you suddenly doing here?” I asked Yuji.

The words from the last time still echoed in my mind. I held back my anger trying my best not to engage in whatever he is. Though, it’s too late even if he is the one who has set this trap for me. Yuji is very high in my suspect lists right now but I have zero proof of this. That holds me back from coming forward to attack him or defend myself against him. As annoying as he was. I did not consider him as my obstacle. I trust my survival instinct and that’s what it was saying to me about Yuji.

Yuji ignored my question but extended his hand out waiting for something. I responded by pulling out a keychain and he asked me to get it from Shin and handed it to him. Yuji’s eyes widened seeing me actually do this. Upon this his smile grew instantly.

“I was starting to think it’s not in you! Even though you lack the skill compared with me you’re not innocent.” He spoke to me with a tone of superiority.

I only stared at his change of attitude and listened to his words.

He truly was looking down on me.

“Where is it?” I asked him for the envelope he promised me. Ignoring his taunting.

Yuji chucked and took out an envelope. Passing it to me.

“I am interested in what you will do with this.” Yuji said. Raising an eyebrow as I received it.

“Why did you stop coming to class?” I asked him another question that I’ve been wondering about.

“Ah…are you worried about me?” Yuji asked me back in a fake gratitude.

I just looked at him without any emotion. “I am just curious how much time I can savor without your presence.” I replied coolly.

Yuji only chuckled at my words unbothered.

“I happened to come off with an awful cold. Don’t worry! I will be back before you know it.” Yuji said.

That was an obvious lie because his health as far as I could see was healthy. His complexion was strong and eyes bright, lively even.

I didn’t really want him to know that I don’t believe him and let out a breath. Moving my feet towards my dorm room.

“In that case I would rather leave. I don’t want to be infected.” I said and walked away from him.

I could hear him chuckle. Then without saying anything else we both parted. I entered my dorm room and he left for the elevator.

Once in the dorm room I took off my coat and shoes. Leaving it hanging by the entrance and shoes on the floor by the wall. I put my bag on the sofa chair near the corner and put the envelope on my work desk and sat down behind it. The first thing I did was to open my personal laptop. I had two. One that was with me at all times that I used for my studies. And the personal one that I never used. In looks they both looked identical and that was on purpose. My personal laptop I had my own system that I developed with my dad when I was still studying under him. This program allowed me to unlock information that’s locked behind programs under strict password systems. If in the wrong hands it could be used as a tool to get information from anywhere one desired. It was untraceable as well. Blocked by a strong firewall which also worked as a security system for me. It was connected to my personal phone and any sites that I was registered to. Including my emails. I haven’t really used this much as I strictly was told by my dad to only use it to protect myself. The reason why I can’t reach him is because of this system. Simply, Sano had made an adjustment for himself to not let me contact him. This is why I stayed all night last weekend trying to crack those sounds but it was futile. He doesn’t want me to reach out or find out where he is and what he is doing. It does frustrate me but there’s nothing for me to do. The reason why I am using this now is for research. I haven't actually touched it since I came here.

The first thing that I put in the search was Akasia. The name of this town that I am in. I just want to know what kind of information I can get.

To my surprise when searching for this name what came up was unexpected. There were a bunch of sites that were unrelated. Random posts or business names but no locations that named a city. Nothing about this town. I scrolled through the only thing that caught my eyes was a government website that sent me to a page of a research done in the year of 1829. The research was in the humanitarian department and the only thing that matched to this name was a single name Vivian Akasia Freeran. That research was in exploration of society as a whole focused on life expectancy and theoretical research of how society will evolve in the future.

As I read through all the points. Time passed and it became late.

Overall it was well written research that I was surprised to find like that though it wasn’t what I was looking for. There was no mention of a city or anything related to what I was searching for. As if the city of Akasia did not exist. Even putting the coordinates of this city on the map was an unnamed area restricted by the government. A governmental authority area where citizens could never go. Usually under military control.

  What exactly does this mean?

Is Akasia a government controlled city? The citizens of this city. Are they all of them born here or moved here just like me? What does that mean for me?

I am already aware that the expectations of people here are very high and the fact that compared to outside of Akasia the skills people have are above average. Are they trying to get all the skillful people in one place to make them work on secret projects and develop new technology for the interest of the government? How did my dad get me into here in the first place and why? Questions kept piling and piling including the question of how did my mother move here?
